I read that the Bellas were apparently upset with Ronda's promo, so Nikki will 100p win in 4 minutes via armbar.

IMO it's a "worked shoot" because Ronda wouldn't have said anything unapproved. Maybe they didn't tell Nikki in order to get genuine reaction, but I could see her trying to add a little "spice" to the feud by acting "shoot" upset with the promo.

I think it's probably the most they've botched one of their own PPVs since the infamous ECW brand's December To Dismember that was scheduled for one week after Survivor Series and Vince forbid anything but the main-event being announced more than a week in advance b/c he was worried D2D would 'take attention away from Survivor Series' otherwise.

In fact, IIRC Vince put all the blame for the show being a disaster on Paul Heyman and fired him almost immediately after the show. Heyman/Vince had clashed about Lashley winning the title at the show as Heyman wanted Punk to leave as champ but Vince was all about pushing Lashley as the face of the ECW brand at the time.

Heyman also wanted Punk to make Big Show tap out in less than five minutes. Prichard ridiculed him for suggesting that on his podcast.

I am genuinely curious as to how they'll book the RAW Women's Championship match. Will it be "one-and-done" or will we see a screwy finish with Stephanie interfering?

You're right!

Also they had only announced two matches for the show before it aired, the main-event and a tag match between Hardy's and MNM (John Morrison/Joey Mercury). And the show wasn't even 2 1/2 hours long, which Vince again blamed completely on Paul Heyman, who wasn't allowed to book anything for the show really more than a few days in advance.

I remember reading about that.

I remember reading that Heyman did want Punk to win but Vince wanted Lashley to win, like you said but I also remember reading that Vince wanted Lashley to have a fifteen or twenty minute celebration in the ring after he won the title but Heyman was dead against it. Heyman also warned Vince and told him that the fans would throw it back in his face if that happened but Vince didn't listen to him and he went ahead with his plans anyway.

After the event, Vince wasn't happy at all with the reception the event got from fans so he blamed Heyman for December To Dismember's failure and the fan's reaction to Lashley's title celebration, so Heyman walked out of the company but remained under contract until Vince fired him.

Thought I remember Heyman saying, as a compromise, to let Punk tap out Show, give him a good, long showing while still having Lashley win but giving Punk the rub. Which would've been a much better idea.

Same person who complained backstage after AJ Lee gave the "Pipebomb 2.0" promo which is why that led to nowhere afterwards and can't stop blabbering about Cena whenever asked about her relationship and Total Divas in public.

Probably why WWE let her do a "worked shoot" on Ronda about her mom as some sort of appeasement.

I know that was a typo, but Callahan did stink in NXT. They didn't play to his strengths at all, and I think they attempted to just add bim to the collection.

It has goals (winning and losing) and it should have stakes in order to justify emotional investment.

The thing with all the comedy wrestling is that is completely defeats the point of any of that. I don't think it's impressive to go out there and pretend that the goals and stakes are ludicrous. And I think to non-fans, as opposed to being an obvious edge into to a staged form of entertainment, it's actually as silly as someone trying to do a comedy song but not being able to remotely play an instrument or be able to sing. "Why do you watch this shit? You know it's fake, right?" "Of course I do! Look at that guy swinging people with his penis! They're clearly not trying to fool anyone!" "Yeah, but why do you watch this shit?"

It's got even less of a point than WWE's sports entertainment, and I actually consider it a very self-conscious and self-hating form of wrestling. I'm sure the guys who do it think it is funny, but I can't help but think that they must be deeply insecure to need to overtly discredit any form of irony bribe. It's like they are too scared to actually try. And it's riddled with 15-year-old boy syndrome.

I think the issue is that it has become too much. Like with anything, a lot of it is fun in moderation. A goofy spot or a comedy match should be a palette cleanser. As should a hardcore brawl. As should a match chock full of "flippy shit". Problem is, now the wrestlers on every match of every indy show think all three of those thongs should happen in every match. It's too much, which makes it hokey.

It's why I personally dislike Young Bucks matches... I get the whole rebellion thing works for them, and that's fine, but the "a match isn't good unless it has at least one dive" philosophy makes dives not special. Cramming 800 finishes into a match before it is even halfway done might be ok periodically, but not every. single. match. Even the Joey Ryan dick flip was funny IN CONTEXT of the first time it was done (wrestling a guy who always went for a testicular claw, and having him suggest Ryan not only not sell, but actually reverse it because "American penis so big; so strong"): something that has been long since lost in all the time afterwards spent either having someone like Cornette only see the clip and focus on the spot itself or Joey making his penis into his whole one-dimensional gimmick. It was a time and place thing that was only good a hand full of times (not a pun). Instead, it was run into the ground.

I actually liked the Golden Bucks vs. Mysterio, Fenix, and Bandido match from All-In because it was frantic, fast paced, and short (due to time constraints which happens when you book a show full of people who have never had to bother with keeping things in a certain amount of time). It was the best match the Brothers Jackson were in that I've seen because of those facts. My only complaint was that it should have been the fourth match while keeping the same amount of time it had. Their style is best suited for 6 minute throw everything at the wall kind of matches, but they try to stretch it out and do other shit and it falls flat on its face.

As for Joey Ryan, I have said that one spot was only funny the one time and it had everything to do with it being a counter to Danshoku Dino. I prefer his Chase Stephens bit where he was a typical white meat babyface who just happened to be gay. His whole bit at All In was not worth watching, and I had to explain that to my Dad, who's 75.

As you can see, it's an all female track listing (I wonder why?).

The only themes I'm really interesting in are Katie Lea's, Natalya's (but we've already got the full version from the SvR games but it's still a good theme), Beth Phoenix's, Molly Holly's and Ivory's.

I've also noticed that just over half of the themes are from the 05-09 period but you can't really complain as the vast majority of women before 2005 were only given really generic sounding production themes, especially in the late 90's/early 00's, which are only represented by Ivory, Stacy Keibler and Molly Holly. I'm not counting Stephanie's theme there even though it's from 2002, because she's the boss' daughter so obviously she would have been given her very own theme.

I think it's cool that we've been given two themes that were only ever used once, with those being Beth Phoenix and Emma, who by the way, is the only "2010's" theme on the album and yeah Tamina's theme is from 2012 but I can't really recall her using a remix of "Tropical Storm", so I think that may be a completely unused theme all-together. I think maybe she was going to use it but plans were made to pair her up with AJ Lee, so she just began using AJ Lee's theme instead.

I remember reading somewhere that although the Uncaged albums are credited to Jim Johnston, he has never had anything to do with the albums as it's all CFO$ doing. I remember reading that they're given free range to the WWE music library and they select which themes get added to the albums. They are also apparently allowed to change the names of tracks which they did with Viscera's theme from Uncaged III. It's original Jim Johnston title was "Fuck Me" but they changed it to "Gut Punch". I think maybe they've done the same with Molly Holly's theme as its title is simply "Molly Holly". I'm sure its original title was "Virginous", "Virgin" or "Wholesome". Something that was related to her gimmick at the time anyway. "Molly Holly" is kind of a boring and unimaginative title and doesn't really scream that Jim Johnston made it. I think CFO$ may have wanted to change it but couldn't think up of something so they just went with "Molly Holly" because as we've seen with their themes, they are just simply creative Gods.
Layla's early theme "Nasty Girl" was really good. Disappointed to see it not on the list.

Besides being upset over Ronda's promo a couple weeks ago, Nikki Bella is now upset that the word "Diva" has a negative stigma to it. Probably because she's currently the most high profile person and symbol from that era and its poor quality left in the WWE.

Quote:
“I think that’s what hard for the women of that era now because Triple H and that group decided to say it was a bad word. It’s like wait what do you mean? You guys for years taught us to make this an amazing word and that's what we did. We put our blood, sweat and tears into this. And I saw the work that went into that.

It was beautiful. I got to be a part of that bride you said when people wanted to see more of us and that was beautiful. Then when it gets taken away from the Diva era, that hurts me. That’s why I’m back. You think Diva is a bad word? Then I’m going to kick your ass and show you Diva isn’t a bad word.”
https://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/20...-wwe-evolution

She's already been public before about being upset that people have a low view of Total Divas and not crediting it with the start of WWE's Women's Revolution instead of NXT. Same for legit thinking it was her match and people wanting to see the Divas brand wrestle more that caused fans to revolt.

Real reason was fans hated how WWE refused to fix their handling of the main roster women and didn't want to see the more talented NXT women suffer the same piss break fate.

There is one person who can be credited with the Women's Revolution. And her last name isn't Bella or McMahon. Also, her first name isn't AJ or Paige.

It was Sara D'Amato. She went from being one of the best women's wrestlers in the world (who Vince didn't hire because she was too "old" and "ugly") to training the girls and her track record is amazing. No Sara, no Women's Revolution. End of story.

Also Johnny Ace considering he was in charge of talent signings at the time. His preference for hiring women was you either had to have glamour magazine beauty or someone he would consider picking up at a bar or strip club for a date afterwards.

No coincidence that once he got fired from the job, the skill level of WWE's hiring of women afterwards started to shoot up in quality. Less preference on Ace's wiener as the judge and more towards having actual wrestling skills or other skills that could be molded into being a good wrestler.
