lol @ the joke going over so many peoples heads.
At this point he needs to just come out and say he was talking about her tits. Like, people will still probably be miffed, but easier to be forgiven in today's environment for not liking implants than for fat shaming. |

You should have heard Dave from like 98-2002. He's always been against "unrealistic body images". I remember him commenting alot on how ridiculously skinny Stacy Keibler got

He didnt even actually criticize her. He just stated that she had gotten implants in a cheeky way. If someone is offended by that, then frankly there's no hope for them.

This is fucking dumb. You're in a physical business. Your physique is going to be analyzed. He didn't say anything really negative about her from the sounds of that clip, other than she was more attractive in NXT because their act on the main roster has been "WWEized," where the superficial appearance of their women is far more important than talent. See; Bliss, Alexa; Carmella; Royce, Petyon; Kay, Billie. Bischoff and Russo jumping on this is pretty indicative this is just a witch-hunt on Dave. All these people will gladly work for a company that promotes propaganda for a country that puts women in prison for daring to drive, and then want to act as if calling a spade a spade is egregious. Fuck this company and fuck the people who support it. Also, fuck Russo and Bischoff. |

I get a feeling even though Dave is getting a lot of slack right now that this attention will only raise his profile in the long run. His influence on wrestling is so strong and undeniable. Call him a Journalist, critic, historian, dirt sheet writer or whatever you want Meltzer has raised tons of awareness throughout history for indie and Japanese wrestling. For example, All In would not be a thing if he hadn't jokingly challenged Cody and the Bucks to make it happen.

Hilarious that Beth Phoenix and Fit are "disgusted" with this yet they were around and I guarantee didn't say shit during Piggy James and making fun of Vickie Guerrero's weight.

I mean we have the whole Bliss/Nia storyline as well. Also I'd imagine if there was a female critic that had half the following Meltzer did that she would likely comment more than he does on the "attractiveness" of certain superstars, or loss of muscle mass/hotness etc... We all know Jinder looked amazing upon his redebut to WWE, not to say he looks bad now but is it really body shaming if I point out that "he doesn't look as good as he used to"? It's just an observation. And Dave is the Observer.

Lol I remember when Dave used to refer to JYD as the "Junk Food Dog" and the Ultimate Warrior as "The Anabolic Warrior" in the late 80s

How many women needed to go to prison for daring to drive so that Peyton Royce can afford her new tits to share with her boyfriend who thinks that rape is funny if you yell "Surprise!" before it? When you're in an internet argument, sometimes you say shit without thinking, but it's mighty presumptuous to project pity on the women in Dave Meltzer's life when your own ducks aren't in a row.
Also, Peyton is not very good at her job. This is not a sexist remark. She is a shitty wrestler and I bet that if she were ugly she would have never had a look. This dog-piling on Dave by people accepting paychecks from this company is miserably low, and it's darkly ironic. No one with genuine progressive beliefs looks at the WWE's post-feminist token attitude towards women and thinks "Man, they are doing a great job." If the employees actually buy into the WWE's "Women's Revolution" PR, then they are fucking marks. |

Let's see how disgusting Fit Finlay and Beth Phoenix find the WWE then. And if Tyler Breeze can make his voice count there, since we need to make it positive. I wonder if Renee Young will call the WWE a steaming pile of trash?

Dave does not seem stupid enough to post the location of a confidential DV shelter. Did he really do that? So much for not having sources, aye? It seems he can find people that have gone into hiding.
Is it bothering anyone else how obvious it was that Dave was talking about Peyton getting big fake titties? Way too many people are framing this like he was trying to fat-shame Peyton or something. I'm all for women doing whatever they want to their tits, but they shouldn't feel the pressure to do it to themselves, and that pressure does come from WWE. Let's not pretend they are trying to blow apart the patriarchal standards of beauty, haha. In their world, big boobs = good. It's irking me that this is being framed like it's Dave Meltzer against women when it's clearly Dave Meltzer against Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn's idea of what women should look like. |

Dave's been against that for the past 20 years and has been WAAAAAY more critical. It's these reddit/Bruce Prichard fans who just discovered Dave in the past 2-3 years that don't get that.

And for those who say that Dave only does this to women, go read an Observer from 1988 and see how much Dave devotes his Newsletter to giving the WWF shit for how roided up all their wrestlers were. I remember the Observer after Wrestlemania 4 was pretty scathing.

I actually found the newsletter online. Here's what Meltzer had to say after Wrestlemania 4.
-- Steroids. "I joke about steroids all the time. I give guys funny nicknames and I suppose I'm the most hated person in the world among heavy steroid users in the wrestling business. However, I'm not trying to be funny here. It was totally embarrassing watching guys really try to work hard, which they aren't used to, and have every match but a few totally die within two minutes because one, and often both guys, couldn't keep up a decent pace for a five minute match. I don't even want to talk about health risks here, because nobody listens. I don't even want to blame the guys here, because the reality of what the promoter is trying to sell forces 82 percent of the Titan workers to become human guinea pigs. However, the tournament was embarrassing. I was embarrassed as someone who appreciates the talents and sacrifices wrestlers make to see this stuff. It wasn't ha-ha, let's watch Lex blow up like lots of fans do, this was a sad situation. Shoot, Luger kept up a pace in his match that put most of Titan's guys to shame." |

I don’t take issue with people calling out Dave when they thought he’d insulted one of their friends and co-workers. I’d have done the same thing. But his apology seemed genuine and his explanation made a lot of sense. That should’ve been the end of it. No need to pile on further.

I agree with you on the apology, but I also think that the piling on in the first place is opportunistic, mean-spirited and uneducated. It's left me very sour towards those individuals.

I think it's relatively safe to say that most of the talent involved in the "aftermath" of what Dave said are a complete bunch of hypocrites with (at best) no more credibility than Meltzer himself.
