I think it really needs to happen. With ROH struggling right now and Anthem buying AXS TV it makes sense but might just be a rumor.

It would be okay with Impact re-branding as ROH after a sort of promotional war that is "good". I dunno there is a lot of wrestling right now. fffs.

Noid I take back what I said about NJPW and Impact, kind of. Looks like there will be some overlap even if it is only production. AXS could be a great niche wrestling channel. Very exciting time. And just amazing that Impact keeps coming back like this.

Plot twist: TNA comes full circle when they get bought by Billy Corgan, and they once again use the NWA prefix.
In all seriousness, though, does this mean they are getting purchaced from Sinclair entirely, or is there going to be some sort of network deal to continue airing syndicated shows and shitty timeslots? And on an entirely different note, I for one feel if Anthem is in position to pull something like this, they should, in hindsight, cut Matt Hardy a sizeable fucking "thank you" check for services rendered. |

Corgan couldn't afford TNA at the time he had a chance to take it over. I don't think he can afford to buy ROH right now with them going to TV. The thing about ROH is their video library, if they are going to sell that is whats going to draw the most interest.

Honestly I've not really watched Impact! regularly since the first 6 or so weekly PPV's way back when. I would catch episodes when they got on FS1 or whatever they were on after that but it didn't grab me. Ron Killings wasn't a draw for me at all at the time.
I tried to watch when Hogan and Bischoff came on board. I've seen at least one or two episodes from probably every incarnation of TNA. Yet this story really excites me. It's not as though I need more wrestling to watch... but last year when Impact started doing really good PPV's. Jericho seemed like he could be going there... things were looking up. That was the best version of TNA I had seen. The PPV where Moose wrestled Aries in Canada and also Penta/Callihan had a sick death match. I'm really excited for them, especially if they are able to "buy" ROH. I really have no idea what that company would look like then. Would it be Impact, or ROH, or something else? Pretty exciting regardless. |

I think it's mostly just a rumor and far from happening but so was Anthem buying AXS so you can't really rule at out.
It is fun to think about though and it's something I brought up a bit a go in another thread. Quote:

Lol, you don’t need to take anything back. I was just hypothesizing. Not surprised it’s the talk. It always seemed like a “logical” move (as much as anything in wrestling is logical).

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough: I meant after the fact. Anthem buys RoH, which then collectively gets bought by Corgan, putting both of them them under one umbrella of Smashing Pumpkins money.
A funny thing about iMpact/RoH: Ring of Honor has the structure, but can't keep talent from being pilfered and have to continually try to build new stars, and TNA has the talent, but also a nearly insurmountable stink of bullshit well after Vince Russo and Dixie Carter have been out of the picture. Even without my Billy Corgan fanfiction above, such a deal still has potential to do both sides good outside of just TV and financial obligations. And, with all the attention AEW and WWE are getting, might be able to fly under the radar enough to build to something greater in a few years if they don't try to match that hype, and sorta become the ECW of this equation. |
