Looks better than I expected it to be. Candyman didn't go on to be one of the ongoing slasher icons (probably because of part 2 being god awful), but I always liked the lore and vibe. And it's one of the very few movies that dealt with social issues in an internally consistent manner where it made sense to have a white antagonist in a black environment (then again 90s 'socially aware' movies were just plain better than now, imo).
Def seeing this. The added viral culture should really pump up the themes, especially given Candyman acknowledges it's the folklore nature of urban legends that keeps him alive. |

I think the original film is great, it holds up terrifically well.
It has such a dreamlike feel to it and has some legit scary scenes. |
