How to start a RIOT: Royal Rumble edition.
Step one: do not announce Strowman for the Rumble.

Step two: #29 is a masked man.

Step three: R-Truth is scheduled to come out, but is beaten up, his space taken by Strowman.

Step four: Strowman cleans house, leaving him and the masked man.

Step five: masked man eliminates Strowman. Then reveals himself to be... Roman Reigns.

Step six: Lesnar squashes Demon Balor in under a minute.

Thoughts?

Here is my best attempt:

* The cruiserweight match sees Lince Dorado randomly enter the match under Lucha House Party rules and steal the Cruiserweight Title. Everyone is confused and Otis comes out and screams randomly.

* Rusev defeats Shinsuke Nakamura with The Accolade in a match that starts off with an air guitar battle and rope poses.

* Ronda Rousey beats Sasha Banks in a match called on the fly where neither has any clue what to do. 80% of the match is Sasha walking around talking about how she's the boss. Ronda locks in the Armbar, but they miscommunicate, so Ronda just gets a sneaky pin on Sasha and that's that.

* Becky Lynch and Asuka fight to a double countout. Becky swears she is going to get her hands on Asuka and win back her title and that she's the talk of the whole world.

* Brock Lesnar squashes The Demon. He goes to pin him after one F5, but then picks him up and hits another as Michael Cole screams "It took two F5s to beat the Demon!"

* Daniel Bryan cuts a promo where he says that the pollution in this city has made him sick, so he's not defending the WWE Title tonight. He has found a new opponent for AJ Styles, however. It's EC3. EC3 then beats Styles as commentary informs us that EC3 just beat a former WWE Champion and the third greatest SmackDown Superstar in SmackDown history.

* Shane McMahon wins the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in a Handicap Match against Sheamus & Cesaro as The Miz stands on the apron clapping his partner on and Sheamus and Cesaro bump around like crazy for Shane punches. This goes for 30 minutes because it is a Shane McMahon match.

* Brock Lesnar wins the Men's Royal Rumble, with the stipulation being that Brock now doesn't have to defend the Universal Title at WrestleMania.

* Carmella wins the Women's Royal Rumble after entering #30 as commentators hype that she had the advantage. Ronda Rousey and Asuka come out and stare down Carmella, whose arm is raised by Stephanie McMahon as she points to the WrestleMania sign.

Here are my Dave Meltzer explanations:

* "Vince feels that the Lucha House Party should be a thing. He thinks that a bunch of Hispanic guys making their own rules could get people into 205 Live and Raw. When SmackDown goes to FOX, expect them to be a huge focus. Otis is just doing comedy at this point because it makes Vince laugh."

* "The idea was that Rusev and Nakamura are both competing to see who the most charismatic is. They might end up as a wacky tag team down the line. Nakamura and Rusev wanted to take a more serious approach to the match, but Vince was dead-set against it, because he feels that their value is in having a more fun feud."

* "They wanted to test how Ronda would do in an improvised environment. Sasha is always bragging about how she's the best, so this was sort of put on to embarrass her. The heat is going to be on Sasha for this one."

* "The plan is for Becky Lynch to go against Asuka and Charlotte in a Triple Threat at Mania. There is a chance it could close the show since Vince promised Charlotte the match, but the crowd is probably going to be too tired to care then anyway."

* "Vince wanted to put some equity into the Brock vs. Finn match, because he didn't think people would buy their singles match. The idea is to build Brock by feeding him the undefeated Demon Balor."

* "They wanted to debut EC3 in a big way. AJ Styles still hasn't signed his contract, so Vince wants to push the pressure on him. They think Bryan not wrestling is going to get him more heat."

* "They want Shane to look like the valiant hero in the team and Miz to look like he's coasting. Sheamus & Cesaro are basically just there to make other teams look good and keep the belts moving between players."

* "Brock won the Rumble because Vince can't secure dates on him for Mania, and because he wants to keep pouring that heat into Brock. The plan was for Seth to win and go against Brock, but Vince feels he's not over enough."

* "Vince thinks that Carmella is a star. They gave her MITB and the SmackDown title and they feel like she did a great job. Ronda wants to work with her and this a chance for both to step their game up. R-Truth will be in there as the comedic mentor to Carmella, since he's headlined every major PPV except WrestleMania. The Rock is considering showing up, and since he liked working with R-Truth so much in 2011, he requested working with him again."

Shinsuke has an amazing entrance, then goes full Bash at the Beach Jeff Jarrett and shoot lays down and takes the loss. We don't see him again until Double or Nothing where he won't be held back by a racist against Japanese owner.

Miz and Shane double cross each other yet somehow still win the straps.

Buddy Murphy or Kalisto beat one of the Asian wrestlers, again cause racist Vince.

Charlotte cost Becky the Smackdown title match, then Becky attacks Charlotte backstage and takes her spot in the woman's Rumble match, goes on to win it, and somehow both end up moving to Raw to fight Ronda at Mania.

Sasha loses to Ronda, and her and Bayley go on to Elimination Chamber to win the Women's tag titles.

Daniel Bryan retains when EC3 shows up on the stage during the match and goes full Lex Lugar looking at himself in 3 mirrors distracting A.J. long enough to cost him the match.

Finn smiles for a while, then eats about 5 German suplexes before Braun comes out and beats up Finn for taking his spot, turning heel again for no real reason at all, then in 6 weeks he will fight Gable and Roode at Mania with a different Ref's kid as his partner, becoming a face again somehow in the process.

Woman's Royal Rumble match is booked to be won by Carmella, but they get down to the last 2 and Nia Fat "accidentally" injures her, and they have to Audible to Nia winning, cause anti bullying or something.

Men's Royal Rumble, John Cena wins, goes to Mania and takes the title from Daniel Bryan, thus getting to stick it to a Bella one more time :O

I was being facetious in OP, but I can honestly see Lesnar dropping the title to either Reigns or Cena.

They're not going to at first, but there was this sentiment going around that he'll be "a babyface for life." I can honestly see crowds, once the relief the human being is okay subsides, going back to booing the shit out of him. They're not going to appreciate being guilted into cheering for the guy.

I think Brock will drop it to Seth at Mania, with Roman coming out to hug Seth and celebrate his buddy doing what he couldn't -- slaying The Beast at WrestleMania. But I can see Seth's push, given how ham-fisted WWE are going to be with the dedications to Roman Reigns, the melodrama from Seth, the smiling and the pouting at alternating moments and his general demeanour -- actually leading to him being booed. I can see him getting a touch of the Rey Rey's.
