I used to be almost more excited for the Raw after WrestleMania more than the event itself. I now feel nothing after this one.

Going by Wikipedia and Post Wrestling, top 3 longest matches were:
1) Batista vs Triple H at 24:45 (Wiki) or 24:46 (PW) 2) WWE Title at 23:45 (Wiki) or 23:43 (PW) 3) RAW & Smackdown Women's Title at 21:27 (Wiki) or 21:28 (PW) Observer usually does match times as well but didn't for their Mania report. Shortest were US title at about 1 minute, Universal title at about 2:30 minutes and Angle-Corbin at a little under 6 minutes. |

I can see them going real lazy with Raw tomorrow and booking Becky vs. Ronda and maybe even Brock vs. Seth in rematches.

WWE needs to hire back Pat Patterson or something because they can’t do main event finishes worth a fuck anymore. Eric Bischoff always talks on his podcast how part of WCWs downfall creatively was that they never had strong finishes. The story and journey can be fucking amazing, but if the ending sucks it puts a damper on the whole deal.
If the WrestleMania XX ended with that finish just so HHH could stay strong for the Backlash rematch the next month or Daniel Bryan winning that way at WM30...that would have been the complete drizzling shits. It’s Wrestle-fucking-Mania, end it with a decisive finish. You can set the table the next night on Raw for friggin’ Backlash/Payback/MITB/wtf ever. That finish completely undermined the great match in a historic main event the women put on. |

Honestly happy with the overall show, but that finish fucking sucks. Best paced “Marathon Mania” to date.

If they had a clear vision with this and just watched the build to WrestleMania XIV over and over again and took notes on how to build to a Ronda/Becky main event, then this could have felt awesome. It doesn't need to be a carbon copy.
* Becky wins the Royal Rumble. * "You weren't an official competitor in the Rumble. Finlay has been put into a match with Drew McIntyre for putting you in there, and if he loses then your Irish buddy is out of a job." - Steph * "I don't like you, and you don't like me, but WWE has invested too much money and effort into promoting you as the Raw Women's Champion for you to lose to a disobedient entitled brat like Becky Lynch. I have appointed you a manager for your match against Becky at WrestleMania to make sure you walk out our biggest star and Women's Champion. Meet the maker of champions, Paul Heyman." - Steph introducing us to Heyman as Ronda's manager * Cue the two women talking shit and Heyman hyping up Ronda as the new phenom of WWE, and their most outstanding star. * Becky vs. Ronda at Mania with the "cage match music" to hype them both up. Becky comes out to her entrance, Ronda with the big star entrance. * Becky eventually gets Ronda in her submission hold, but Ronda doesn't want to tap -- she's too competitve. Heyman throws in the towel because he can't stand to see Ronda get her arm broken. Ronda keeps asking him why as she gets out of the ring, dejected, and Heyman tells her "There will be other matches, kid." * On Raw, Steph calls out Heyman for being soft. He was supposed to protect their investment and instead of cost Ronda the match. Heyman says that this is part of his plan. If Becky had snapped Ronda's arm then Ronda would be broken. By throwing in the towel, Ronda's pride is hurt. Ronda is mad. Ronda feels cheated, and she is now obsessed with proving something against Becky Lynch. She's not ready for the champ right now, but she will be, and when that happens, Becky is not going to know what hit her. Steph can either be satisfied with this, or realize that Heyman is pulling the wool over her eyes, and either fires or suspends him. * Becky is the babyface champion; Steph is the heel boss; Ronda is the fighter with her pride hurt, training for a comeback; any heel can be backed by Steph; Heyman can be around cutting promos, either as a heel or a babyface, hyping the return of Ronda Rousey who is training away. It's not fucking hard. Even if you hate the authority figures in wrestling, Steph has never properly thrown her weight around, and this sets up a clear thread for getting through your weekly television and a plethora of challengers for Becky. They can either be backed by Stephanie or forced into title situations by her. There's focus on the babyface and on her being a damn good wrestler, but she's too good, and it's rankling the heel boss who has spent millions on a prize fighter that can't beat her. |

Just saw a short clip of Balor crawling to the ring. The fuck is this?
Does he suddenly lose his ability to walk when he puts on that body paint? |

He’s always done that crawl thing with the “Demon”. It just was more noticeable because it’s the first time he’s done it at Mania on a 10 mile long ramp. He hasn’t always run around sticking his tongue out like an unofficial KISS member though.

So. I remember when they announced that there would be no more "split brand" PPVs, I posted about being worried about the future of Becky Lynch, and worried that she would not really appear in meaningful ways on PPV anymore.
Guys, I was wrong in my fears. |

In your defense, it was looking that way until they accidentally got her over by trying to turn her heel and actually letting her kick a bit of ass.

Just watched that ending. That's awful. Why would they even let women headline Wrestlemania?

Bob Backlund beat Billy Graham when superstar had his foot on the rope and went on to have a pretty successful 4-5 year reign (or whatever it was).

God, WWE just ignores all the stories they have. Reviews from the show sound pretty positive, generally, but just imagine if they built up all the stories in a natural and authentic way:
* Batista vs. Triple H should not have been about Ric Flair or "shoot names." Batista left the WWE and became one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood. He did everything there was to do in WWE. At Ric Flair's birthday celebration, he should have used that as a platform with a live mic to point out to Triple H that since it became apparent that Batista was the true box office star of Evolution and is the one guy Trips could never figure out, he's been marginalized by the company instead of being embraced as a true success story in the world of entertainment. He can still be douchebag Hollywood Batista, but have him make some sincere points about Triple H's insecurity and their history. * If Kurt Angle had wrestled John Cena, which seems to be where the fans wanted things to go, then you can show clips of their entire history. Cena's debut; their rap battles; Cena beating Angle at No Way Out '05; Cena inducting Angle into the Hall of Fame. Done. If you wanted to make a new kid, because the match was not going to live up to hype, why not Chad Gable? You know, another Olympian and the former tag team partner of Jason Jordan. You can have Angle select Gable as the greatest natural talent in WWE, and you can begin to tease some jealousy between Roode and Gable, with Gable taking the Glorious entrance into WrestleMania while Roode is left cleaning up scraps in the Battle Royal. * Brock vs. Seth has history that goes back to 2015. It really tells the story of Seth Rollins' entire WWE career. Kicking down the door as The Shield and then playing to The Authority to get opportunities, now he's trying to prove he can do it fair and square on his own. Can't you just imagine the promos from Heyman telling Seth that Brock has not forgiven him for handing him his only WrestleMania blemish since ending the streak? * Orton vs. Styles could have been more cerebral. Who is Randy Orton? He's a guy that has been working for the company for 17 years and has seen this prodigy come into his promotion and win the WWE Title and have to see him carry the WWE Title for a single undisturbed reign that lasted longer than any of his -- and he's done it in three years. A combined 1,169 days as WWE Champion between them, Orton can feel Styles closing in to his greatness in such a short time. |

I mean, to be fair, I guess I did fast forward through a bunch of the build to the match, but I don't remember revenge or that Mania moment being part of the build at all |

Just got back to the hotel. Really exhausted. Crowd predictably died during HHH/Batista and couldn’t fully recover even for the main.
Anyway it was a really long day but a far better show than WM29. |

According to those at the event, this is how bad it got at one point with the mood lighting.
Also WWE spoiled the WWE title match early by selling the Kofi WWE title shirt and a new Bryan shirt that likely will be his new catchphrase now. |
