Fortnite - Battle Royale (aka PUBG knockoff)
I know this thread will die, but for us console peasants who havent had a chance to delve into the whole battle royale scene, I highly suggest a download. I played some yesterday and had a blast. And its free so why dafuqknot!?

It's not really fair to call the Fortnite Battle Royale mode a ripoff of PUBG when PUBG is a ripoff of previously existing game modes. I'm aware that the PUBG creator was also behind one of the older mods for Arma 2/DayZ and it's follow up, but his original mod was a ripoff of the Hunger Games mod for Minecraft. ARK had a separate battle royale game out like 2 years before PUBG, but they merged it into the standard ARK game eventually to make updates more efficient.

IJS.

Also the Fortnite mode is funner IMO because of the creation/building aspects. PUBG is really dull and I don't get the massive hype for it at all. TBH I don't like this game mode anyways; no progression system is a big turn off for me and cosmetics don't really cut it.

Got it working now. I am beyond terrible and I don't understand why. Lost every 1 on 1 battle I had. Even when I have the jump 9n the person. Giving it 1 more go before I give up.

Okay, went better. 9th place finish. Ganked 1 person and killed 1 head to head. I understand how the cloud works now too. Game seems like it goes by way to fast.

Fortnite is definitely more polished, but I still prefer PUBG.

All joking aside they're essentially the same game, with Fortnite obviously having more polish due to the frame rate, but I just prefer a more realistic approach to this style of game, and the larger map of PUBG.

Fortnite is more an arena shooter in mechanics and I lean toward that in general.

As enjoyable as Fortnite is, for me, it can be so frustrating at times.

A couple months back, playing the Xbox version, I was sniped in the hip with 100 HP and 100 armour and instantly died.
Another match, around the same time, I landed a headshot with a legendary sniper rifle and it did a pathetically small amount of damage. There has even been times, just last week, I've actually seen my bullets pass through the enemy's chest, though that was the Switch version so maybe something is up with that. I have seen videos about it on other platforms in the past, though.

RNG damage really ruins the fun. It should take a cue from Overwatch and have set damage. If McCree shoots you in the body at 50 metres, it will always do the same damage. No RNG saying it might be a critical hit or it might be mediocre.

Another cue they need to take from Overwatch is sound design.
If you're in a team game, you can't tell if the sounds you're hearing are allies or enemies. I've lost count of how many times I've had to ask "Is that you?" to a team mate when I've heard a noise.
In Soaring 50's, I'll hear a glider and I have no clue if that's a team mate or an enemy. The map's no good because all I know are team mates are near me, not if they're flying by me. Either allies should make no noise or they should be very distinctly different sounds from enemies.
I'm not an expert on this stuff, all I know is they need to make it clearer what's happening.

Rants aside, the games fun, overall. Wish it had a little more emphasis on the building beside the "build a cube or a ramp" strategy.

What about a mode where two teams are given a set time to harvest resources and build a massive structure to protect their core?
When time is up, each teams structure, previously unseen to the enemy team, is placed on a battlefield.
The two teams then attack each other and the opposing structure. First team to eliminate the opponents team or core wins.
That's a rough outline.

They also should implement the leveling up buildings mechanic in from Save the World. If you don't know, in StW you can upgrade walls etc from levels 1 (what you see in BR) to level 2 and level 3.

I love playing, but boy do i suck. I just can't figure the aim out. 99% of the time i am in a 1 vs 1 up close shootout i die. i have no control over my cross hair. my sensitivity is .4 for X and Y. Now keep in mind this is the first online shooter i've ever played and i've only been playing for 2 months. I have XBOX and i just move the right joystick way too much when i encounter someone. plus i panic a lot, which doesn't help lol. But i play all the time and it's a lot of fun non the less.

A lot of the things you mentioned, i've encountered. just today my tactical shotgun bullets literally went through the guy and did no damage

Sound design is a big problem. I think thats a big complaint overall...at least when you squad up. 1v100 isnt an issue because obviously any sound you hear will be a threat, but when grouped, there should definitely be enough there to distinguish friend from foe.

Honestly friendly footsteps shouldn't even register. There's little tactical reason for that at all.

I am horrible too. Play on PS4 and still trying to get my first solo win... gotten 2nd place a few times... have 5 squad wins though all-time.

Warzone, which is their standard battle royale mode, is free to play. I'm not sure if dmz is included in that.

DMZ is like a battle royale but instead of eliminating all other players you are getting loot and extracting with it. Theres far less loot in buildings than in warzone and theres tons of ai enemies across the map. Armored ones guarding good loot. Theres even locked buildings you need to get keys for. But anything you successfully extract with gets unlocked for every game mode.

Tryed it a few times solo and with friends and its pretty fun.
