Two times, my Xbox One X froze for about 10 seconds while loading additional assets, one of those times caused me to have to restart the app. Nothing gamebreaking, and just twice in 8 hours isn't bad.


Some of the areas and models look better than others. The lighting is on point though. Whether the neon signs glowing and buzzing, or the bright shine of the sun, lighting is fantastic.


Music is awesome too. Lotsa variety on the radio stations. An actual very heavy metal station, which is the first one I can recall in any game I've played.


The wait was worth it for me. I've already had to resist starting another character for various reasons, but can see myself doing multiple play throughs.
I just finished the prologue and got that stud in my head. i'm thinking i can free roam soon? V ain't leaving her apt just yet for me...until tomorrow. soberish

Updates:


* Car audio no longer works. While not game breaking, it's extremely frustrating for me personally.


* Lots of clipping, pop-ins and stuttering. Kinda depends where I am in the city. This game has locked up on me more than any game I've played on my console. Goes from the occasional "freeze", (but I do see a loading icon in the top-middle portion of the screen) to a full on crash. I've crashed to "Home" 4x so far. Frequent saves are your BFF in 2077.



* Twice, whatever item I was looking at in inventory would stay on the screen no matter what I did. Had this persist through a braindance, which made it almost impossible to scan what I needed to scan


* The graphics look dated.... sometimes. This is tricky. Sometimes the game is gorgeous, other times, it looks fucking abysmal - like a launch title for the 360/PS3. I wish I was exaggerating.



There are other minor annoyances, but overall it truly doesn't feel "complete" I guess? They definitely need to work on console optimization. Hopefully they work on this first, as it seems to be the most detrimental.


If I had to rate it right now, it'd be a hard 5. The RPG system is there and working, but there are too many issues plaguing it right now for it to be great.

I honestly dunno if I even wanna play mine now. Found out that the PS5 doesn't get a 30 fps quality mode and only has the ps4 version in performance mode. XSX already has the quality mode as well, so kinda want to wait for PS5 to get it via patch or even until they do the actual next gen version patches. Whenever that may be.

I don't think expecting basic functionality has anything to do with "too much hype" you smug tit.


Now, I expect CDPR to patch the major bugs first, such as performance and visuals. Don't feel like it was ready for release, but pressure for holiday sales numbers forced it.

Pretty much echo what drave said in his last couple of posts.

I'm still going to play it as its generally what I wanted (The Witcher in the future) but it needs a solid few layers of polish to it.

V nowhere near as engaging as Geralt so far tho. Geralt was a character on his own where it seems like they want you to be V.

I guess I'm having a lot better experience than ya'll. Not 1 crash today.

Honestly, the game gets annoying with all the goddamn incoming cellular calls and side missions and car offers...makes it hard to peacefully explore. It takes GTA4's mobile phone spam from girlfriends/cousin and amps it da fuq up lol

I haven't played it, I'm just seeing that a lot of people are pissed. It seems like a nice game but the amount of hype it had combined with it being unfinished seems like a bad combo!

Not a single crash after I made that post, and things ran a shit ton smoother. Started a new character to see if certain "bugs" were just on my save, they weren't.


Still no car radio audio - which I learned is actually ANY radio at all in the entire game.


Get used to the calls, Samurai. The more you raise that street cred, the more calls flow in. Hit street cred 21 last night, so woot for that. Think that means I can get mantis blades now, fuck yeah. They could use without the god damn Delamain spam though. I couldn't give a fuck less about your stupid cars, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.


Also, like Drebin, I'm still playing through because the game is really damn good, what they are trying to accomplish with it I mean. The idea is pretty clear, and on PC, it is ALMOST bug-free. Still lotsa shit happening there too, but not nearly to the degree of the consoles.


I believe CDPR will fix this. Solely going off history of how they fixed up Witcher 3, they will straighten this shit out too.

Yeah, its playable and I'm enjoying it. They have enough cred that I'm not going to worry about them fixing things over time.

I think this is pretty much going to be the norm for massive open world games like this going forward. Its never going to be done and you have to put it out and generate the revenue at some point.

They're handling this waaaay better than Hello games did with No Man's Sky at the start at least. Could've just gone totally radio silent and put their heads in the sand.

I think they did their best to let everyone know what was going on without just saying "We have to put this out now knowing its 80-85% complete"

That's their one mark against them so far. Like you said tho, they'll get it right. Sadly, I think if they fail to correct their errors, they'll be done.

There will be patches, as outlined above. Obviously don't know the whole truth since I don't work there. It just reeks of "release it for that Holiday Bank" - quality be damned.


It's still very much playable. I've had no freezes or crashes since the last time I posted about it, even started a new game to check if it was just my save file for a single character - it is not.


The shittiest part of it all is just that they showed PC content the entire time, in all their videos (even gameplay) due to the console version not being optimized. The thing is tho, its spotty. There are plenty of moments the game is just beautiful, but when its ugly, its absolutely fucking horrible, like a 360 release title ugly. Not bashing older generations, as they were amazing at the time, but it shouldn't (and isn't) excusable today.


I will be patient and await the fixes. CDPR has a solid rep in my book with how fucked Witcher 3 was at release, and what they morphed it into. If not, they'll never get another cent out of me. Not going to lose my mind over it like some gonks are.



There have been other games with worse releases that turned things around. How quickly people forget.

I played the Witcher 3 at launch. It was leagues better than this on the base consoles. It had a few annoyances and bugs here and there, but there really isn't a fair comparison to be made between the 2. This game is almost unplayable on the base consoles. I won't say that it's worse than Skyrim on PS3 or ME: Andromeda, but damn it's in the conversation. Let my son try it on his base PS4 and I just couldn't play that myself.

picked up some mantis blades...first cyberware I've applied outside of the story. I'm nearing 30 street rep and been concentrating on completing gigs and side quests this evening.

haven't spent abilities or perk points in many levels....just can't decide how I want to spec. abilities are perma and perks are expensive as fuck to reset.

might pick up gorilla arms to replace mantis blades later on. I'm already op as fuck with my purple katana

Read this morning Sony pulled this off the PS Store and will offer refunds.

Got the PS4 version but own a PS5. But with all the stuff I'm hearing, I might just put off playing this a little while longer until some patches come out.

I called Rogue and halfway through the phone call her mobile video in the top left corner went away and she appeared next to me in the street hovering in the air like she was sitting down on the couch in the club.

Sooooooo many of the AI rogue personalities on those cars are hilarious. Agree though, reminds me of the Fallout 4 "settlement needs your help" spam.

lol yeah when they reneged on releasing the dlc for skyrim on PS3 I was angry. Especially after I suffered through that broken ass game all the way to a platinum. Running 7 frames per second and shit. Taking 83 years to load in because my save was too big and caused a memory leak due to poor programming. Then that nasty slap in the face that I don't get the remaining content. Gh3y.

Never did play that expansion.
