Im not really looking forward to Mox/Archer, they already had the match at WK early this year..
Archer isnt winning so unless Archer gets the title match earlier than FG Mox is getting a year long title reign |

Apparently the random fireworks that went off earlier in the show was due to the nearby football field was hosting a family movie theater night and the fireworks were part of the festivities.

Doctor screwed up big time going by that explanation.
The match being "paused" would explain all the awkwardness after the bell rang since it wasn't meant to be official. Khan should scratch out ever using the backstage lift for those types of spots from now on. Not the first time that has caused a scary situation since they had a prior scare with a lift spot during the Street Fight earlier in the year. Forgot who it was that almost lost their balance on it. |

I liked the show but this was very easily their worst PPV ever imo, mostly because every other PPV has been really great and this just felt "fine"
My top 5 matches: 1. Moxley vs. MJF 2. Omega & Page vs. FTR 3. Jericho vs. Cassidy 4. Casino Battle Royale 5. Shida vs. Thunder Rosa - Pretty good but went on like 5 mins too long imo and started to drag... Dark Order vs. Natural Nightmares etc match kinda sucked... felt like a "WWE match" other than some of the cool stuff the Dark Order did towards the end... The Hardy stuff was a "bummer" also, very unfortunate! |

The crowd was also horrible and really put a damper on the show... one of the quietest, lowest energy AEW shows ever... not good!!! I guess the humidity was terrible like some people said but also just felt like the "real crowd" was barely mic'd at all

Had to go to my parents' house this weekend for a family thing so I watched the PPV in the background @ parents' house with my parents, brother and his gf... none of them watch wrestling
My brother really liked it a lot and said he wants to watch future AEW PPVs now. He loved the concept of the mimosa mayhem match, thought it was v funny. Loved Orange Cassidy and his gimmick, and loved MJF, and enjoyed most of the characters and storylines that I explained. His gf didn't seem too into most of it but liked the women's match and mimosa mayhem match and main event. She thought Shida was very pretty My parents were "getting into it" a lot and seemed to like the battle royal the most |

I enjoyed the show but I agree with everything Trips said. Easily the worst AEW ppv, more in line with a decent WWE ppv. Mox is awesome, great big time champ. MJF did great too, what a showing.

Enjoyed the show, even if it did seem to drag at times.
Also it was nice to watch a wrestling show that didn't have so many camera cuts. |

The Texas Deathmatch rematch...wonder if NJPW would let Mox defend the U.S. title with it in a double titles match.

I'm sure it's in Archer's deal that he could take NJPW bookings that don't conflict with AEW ones, same deal a lot of the roster has. But yeah, there's no reason for NJPW to allow their title to be defended between two AEW talents.

Also helps that NJPW now has their own weekly US show so less of a reason to need AEW to handle their IWGP US title booking and plans.

Still feel nervous about that Matt Hardy landing.
Aubrey Edwards threw up the X three times, it should have ended the first time she threw it up. |

Matt Sydal recently hinted he's retiring the Shooting Star Press from his war chest of moves after last night's scary botch incident.

Just watched the show. Mixed bag for me.
-Tooth and Nail was an embarrassment. Scrap this and give Darby and Starks a short and effective opener. -Bucks/JE was typical which isn’t a bad thing. Fun match and I like the arrogance of the Bucks throughout. -Battle Royal was very good. Right guy went over. -Sammy/Hardy stuff was very scary and not handled well. Seemed like Aubrey really tried here, but Matt, Sammy, Khan, and the Doc really fucked this one up. Thankfully by the sound of it that he’s going to be fine. -Women’s match was also really good. Thunder Rosa has a lot of personality, which is much needed in that division. -8 man tag was fine, but AEW needs to protect Brodie more. He just dominated Cody in 2 minutes. He shouldn’t be bumping around for low mid-card wrestlers. Everything was fine here except Brodie just shouldn’t have been in the match. -Tag Titles was a cluster that fell flat for me. Just too much going on. They had a great story coming in, but these four also wanted to have the greatest tag match ever. So we have a tag team in turmoil, one guy may be turning heel, and then it’s also 30 minutes of working different body parts. The match just tried to be too much, if that makes sense. Not bad by any stretch, but a cluster. -I was really entertained by the Mimosa Match. Loved it for the most part, although I would have had Jericho go over and take the bump into the OJ post-match, but whatever. Fun stuff here. -Main event was excellent! A GREAT match! Loved the inside vs outside of the ring story, the arm work, the finish. It was awesome. Great main event! Last edited by Mr. Pierre; 09-07-2020 at 01:26 PM. |
