Watched this today with my buddy as our schedules tied us up yesterday.
A lot has already been said all I'll go with my main takeaways. Luchasauras looked like a star. Versatile moveset for a bigger guy. Omega v Pac was stellar. Lived up to the last minute hype and Kenny losing was a surprise. Cracker Barrel match was a lot of fun. I like Darby Allen as a natural brooding underdog and Joey Janella is entertaining enough. Not a big Jimmy Havoc guy but he has seemingly lost every time out so getting him a win was fine in an entertaining match. Mad crush on Hikaru Shida. Riho is ok. She's going to get manhandled by Nyla Rose, and I think that's why they're putting her in that match. Women's belt is gorgeous. Side Note: don't think I've heard the announcers once mention anything about Nyla Rose being transgender during the broadcast. Which is good. No need to play that up. My buddy said he thinks wwe would be all over that, selling how progressive they are. Cody v Spears was great. Typical Cody match. It's not some technical masterpiece or high flying, high spot affair. Just gold, old fashioned story telling. Tully was great. Arn was an awesome surprise. Thought Spears should've gone over to help cement him as more than a good hand. Also thought this was the night MJF turned on Cody, but alas. That'll come another day. Still a good match. Best Friends v The Dark Order was easily the most boring match on the card. Best friends are ok and the Dark Order, especially Evil Uno, look bush league as fuck. I couldn't get over that Dark Uno is just some fat guy with his pants pulled all the up under his chest as a bad ass, dangerous, intimidating guy. He's just a fat guy with flappy flaps rolling around the ring. His partner is fine, just really generic. The ladder match of death was just that. Jesus fuck the spots. The Canadian destroyer off the ladder and thru the table was prob my fave. Second being the package spike piledriver on the outside. The bump Nick took where he clipped the ropes was brutal. Awesome that the Lucha Bros won. Hopefully that'll be it for these 2 teams for a long while. Jericho v Hangman was a good main event. Nothing was going to top that ladder match but this didn't need to. I liked the busted open spot, Page looked good, Jericho was in top form, and the right guy won. That Judas Effect elbow is going to generate a great pop when someone finally kicks out. All in all I enjoyed it. It wasn't great, or groundbreaking, but it was a fun show and its marquee matches lived up to the hype. |

They should let Cody's story with MJF slow burn to a turn. Jericho was talking shit to Cody via twitter maybe that is the next program. Perhaps during that big match MJF causes Cody the victory. I loved how they made the corner men an angle for All Out Spears/Cody, it would be cool do that with Jericho/Cody as well. Let's say that Spear's aligns with Jericho and Jericho starts using him to do his dirty work against Cody. Jericho has Spears second him at FULL GEAR, Cody once again has a choice to make for his corner and this time goes with someone a little more experienced his big brother Dustin!
MJF is obviously slighted by the choice and costs his best friend Cody his shot at the AEW Championship. |

Agree with the slow burn on the MJF/Cody thing but I think it'd be better for Cody to turn on MJF.

AEW has this huge gulf on the Men's Side. On the top are the established guys:
Jericho Omega Cody Bucks Lucha Brothers Mox Second Tier is the folks with potential upsides: Pac (struggle to put him in the top tier) Page MJF Luchasaurus Jungle Boy After that is the shit tier. They are either shitty wrestlers, have shit house gimmicks, or all of the above: Everyone Else |

Just wanted to pop in and say that the weird skeleton ref woman in the main event was really distracting

If this company got out of there own way, and presents wrestling like the Pac and Omega match, it would be a homerun. |

There's a lot of indy guys we haven't seen as much of and who could also grow really well over the next year or so. Someone like a Darby Allin -- who I am already a big fan of so far and look forward to seeing more of, Sammy Guevera, Kip Sabian, etc. |

He's a dick to Cody's wife, dog, and friends eventually Cody will get sick of it and tell him off. Then MJF can unload on Cody. I just don't think MJF needs to turn on Cody to get heat. |

Had no problem with the ref reacting to the kickout. Seemed like she was as shocked as the crowd (and Page for that matter), didn't ruin anything for me.

I thought Aubrey Edwards did a great job at Double or Nothing. I haven't seen her at All Out. I think, in theory, she's a good choice to main event ("Look at how progressive we are"), but great referees kind of make themselves invisible unless they need to be. Emotional or not, trying to sell or not, she probably should have stuck to what made her great at DoN, which was being a bad-ass that was going to call it straight down the middle and took her job seriously.

That's what she did at All Out. Not really sure what the problem is with her but the one piece of the match she got involved in was warranted as Jericho was testing her and she went back at him. Thought she was great during the main event and the crowd ate it up when she went off on Jericho.

No idea what anyone is talking about. Didn't notice the ref at all outside of the little argument spot with Jericho.

She was VERY over the top the whole match...everytime they hit each other she cringed, made weird faces and flung her arms around like she was the one being hit
Maybe I will get used to her |

Yeah has to be nitpickers nitpicking something and the ref is the only thing they can come up with.

Cody 100% has an Attitude era match with all the over the top nonsense. Don't get me wrong, I loved the match, but I love over the top nonsense when done right, and Cody and Spears was very enjoyable. It is just a little funny the guy who "killed" the attitude era is the guy who keeps performing exactly that way. Hypocritical. The ladder match has too many standing and waiting for the next spot. Spots are great in matches, but the whole match being step by step by step, paint by numbers spot to spot to spot, it's just not as good as a solid wrestling match. Same issue with the cracker barrel match. Pac/Omega, Cody/Spears, and Jericho/Page were worth the money. There were some cool spots in the 2 gimmick matches, but other than they 3 big singles matches, the rest of the PPV was nothing to glorify. That's not nitpicking, that's just where they can improve. |

It's true, Aubroe was horrible and this moment is why. I wanted to say something on Twitter but I didn't want to hurt her feelings. It's something Tony can deal with. Her reactions were theatrical as hell during the final throws of the main event. Didn't ruin it but it was really shitty to steal focus like that. We don't need a ref to interpret the action via fake subconscious physicality.

I guess it's just me, but the ref took nothing out of the match for me. The only "theatrical" thing I really noticed was her reaction to the deadeye kickout, and that didn't bother me at all.
I don't know if people just like to complain, but it is what it is. |

It's not, but seeing one doesn't take me out of anything. Moves and stuff should make sense (maybe the wrong phrasing but whatever), but at the end of the day it's a TV show that I watch to be entertained.
It doesn't bother me when referees react to things. Most of the time I probably don't even notice. Should they flat out beat up guys like Shane Sewell did in TNA? No, that was dumb. But showing emotion isn't an issue for me. Her being shocked in the moment ruined nothing for me. |

For the record, I liked her going back at Jericho, that was great. But her flailing around to every punch and posing is the issue
