It was smart of Tony Khan to book an ok Dynamite to not overshadow his major announcement.

I am not interested in seeing a bunch of Smark NJPW Dream Matches. I didnt care when they had their ROH show. They can't even figure out how to book an all AEW PPV without Malakai Black getting stuck on the Buy In, now they are going to job out some their own people while the majority of their roster won't even be deemed good enough to make it on the PPV.

Now normally you know I would defend you on a lot of your takes Xrod, but I can't cosign that one. I'm hyped af for the NJPW crossover. It'll be awesome to see some of the best guys in the world in the ring come over and put on a show against the best AEW has to offer.

There is a lot of bad stuff going on right now in AEW. The talent for the most part is awesome except they all slap their thighs way too much and love to do super kicks and dives, they should really respect the Bucks enough to not do their fucking moves.
Tony is booking on the fly clearly. Blackpool Combat Club, what a stupid name and sure there could be worse things than Regal, Danielson and Mox in a group, but throw in Yuta Wheeler and you have a big pot of what the fuck is this stew! Mox and Danielson should be in major programs that would inspire people to tune in or buy something. But instead they are just kind of putting over Wheeler Yuta or squashing someone who works on Dark all the time or some local jobber. I don't get it. House of Black ... it's the same shit Malakai did on Smackdown for months and months... wtf Tony? As far as awards go they are bullshit especially from Meltzer but really there doesn't have to be a booker of the year does there? I'd say nobody deserves that honor! |

It will be interesting to see how they build up to the show, for sure. The core audience is going to eat it up regardless, but they have their work cut out for them in getting the casual/new fans to be invested in guys they've likely never heard of.
I'm in the boat where I don't really need build out of it. They can just present it as random best of the best match ups for all I care. I know who these guys are and I just want to see them kick each others asses in 9 star matches, 10 star if the Bucks and Omega are involved. |

I'll tell you a match I want on that card bad: Ospreay vs PAC. They put on a banger on a show a few years ago, I forget who it was for though. I just want more.

I watched some recent New Japan and it honestly kind of sucked. That was Strong, but their whole style is stupid as fuck. I’m sure people will mark out for guys standing around waiting to get hit, but it’s not going to result in business because people see through it. Focus on making your own product good.

New Japan rarely has big debuts like AEW does. This was a weird episode without a big debut. But there was a big announcement so that was big.

Just my final statement on the WWE guys in AEW. What's frustrating is that a lot of fans and of course these particular talents themselves (Malakai, Matthews, Andrade, Miro and others prob) think they could be main eventers. Well that was kind of the allure in bringing them in, giving these guys a better spot than what they were already doing. But so many AEW workers sit on the sidelines or work on Dark tapings. It kind of baffles me how Tony would get into this rut.
Part of the problem is Sammy Guevera. He's taking up a precious spot and a lot of time that could be devoted to someone else, someone better. He's had so much fucking TV time. |

A big problem is that a lot of the talent the WWE has cut, or never used in the first place, so they left, just isn’t at that level too. They get a boost from being positioned against “WWE management.” It’s the easiest way to go over in lieu of talent or brains. |

Wheeler Yuta can do all the moves, but when I saw him in New Japan his work wasn’t great at all. He’s too cooperative and didn’t do anything to make me like him. In fact, he kind of worked like a heel even though he was supposed to be a babyface. I’m not sold.

For this reason, I also don't particularly care if they throw notable people on the YouTube shows on a week they aren't on TV. Right now you have a segment of the internet acting like it's an "LOL AEW" moment any time somebody higher on the pecking order than the Dark Order end up on Dark or Elevation, but those shows exists entirely for reps and stat-padding. The bigger issue I have is the length of time people are being cycled. I feel like 6 hours of TV across 2 weeks should be enough time to feature everyone in a meaningful way. A group as cool as House of Black shouldn't be stuck in vignette hell as long as they have been. |

House of Black vs. BCC would be fucking fun. Don't know how you get there with House of Black seemingly in limbo at the moment but I'd love to watch those teams throw bombs.

Also, I remember how incredibly well they built Dustin vs Cody just using those video packages. Neither guy ever needed to show up on TV before the match and the hype was through the roof based solely on how great those videos were. They should do that more often.

They could do a hell of an AEW vs. NJPW card BUT it's worth noting that they haven't advertised it as AEW vs. NJPW just yet, all we know is it's a dual-promoted show. Aside from a few multi-man matches, G1 Supercard wasn't focused on interpromotional.
And if it does end up being an AEW vs. NJPW gimmick, don't be shocked if it's maybe one or two "dream matches" with the rest of the card being multi-man tags with obvious fall guys. Not to spoil the fun or anything, just the reality that there are always going to be some political issues involved with a show like this. |

After Noah vs NJPW only giving us a couple undercard guys in singles matches, im not super hopeful about seeing any dream matches at all.

I do think there’s a slight difference between rival Japanese promotions and international partners. But I still doubt the card will be packed with marquee inter promotional singles stuff.
If they do, there will be at least two since each side is gonna need someone to go over. Punk vs KENTA is an easy one, particularly if Punk is taking the title at DON. Gets to make his first defense on his home turf and KENTA isn’t someone high enough on the NJPW pecking order for them to be put off on him eating a pin, especially against a big name who has openly expressed a desire to work with them. Then Okada successfully defends against someone (hopefully Bryan) but it’s Okada and nobody looks any worse for losing to Okada. |

Have seen like maybe 5-6 Kenta matches and they were all insanely boring to me...
Went to some small NJPW show a few years ago and he had like a 35 min match and the crowd was mostly silent throughout and a bunch of people in the crowd were getting annoyed at how nothing was happening for so long...

I would like to see some form of the AEW Elite vs NJPW's Bullet Club in a big 10 man tag. There are a lot of members to choose from on the NJPW side but you gotta have Jay White, it's just do you use the US team or the Japanese team?
Here is t a card I put together, haven't watch NJPW in like two years really so, you know. Undisputed Elite (Cole, Reddragon & Bucks) vs Bullet Club (White, Evil, Gallows & Anderson & Fale) Mox & Danielson vs Okada & Tanahashi United Empire vs FTR Naito & Wardlow vs MJF & Spears Jericho vs Shibata Punk vs Kenta Hangman vs Kota Ibushi Ospreay vs Omega |

Here is my fantasy booking of the AEW/New Japan dream card:
* The main event is Team Chaos against Team LIJ. Okada, Ishii, Goto, Trent, Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy vs. Naito, Shingo, Sanada, Andrade, Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt. Two amazing factions going at it, with so many dream combinations. Okada is the World Champion, so his team should probably win, but they can give the big win to Orange Cassidy to help get him even more over. * Kota Ibushi defeats Adam Cole. This should truly be a classic. After the match, reDRagon attacks Ibushi, but who comes to make the save? KENNY OMEGA! He clears house of the heels and then makes out Ibushi. * Jon Moxley defeats Hiroshi Tanahashi to win the US Title. After the match, Danielson and Regal are looking to beat up Tanahashi, but instead help him up and give him a nice reaction. * Minoru Suzuki defeats Jeff Hardy. Two legends going at it. Jeff is in tag competition so he doesn’t need the win. * Will Ospreay vs. PAC. Really great high flying stuff. Ospreay wins. * Taichi defeats Bryan Danielson. What a way to put Taichi over. * Wheeler Yuta defeats Zack Sabre, Jr. Danielson doesn’t want the match until ZSJ proves himself. They go for ages and show us all the amazing technical things they can do. Yuta wins but Danielson looks impressed. * EVIL vs. Danhausen. Books itself. EVIL wins because he is the serious evil wrestler. * CM Punk vs. KENTA. Best in the World! CM Punk wins this one, because KENTA is over 40. Gotta put the young guy over. That’s 5 wins for New Japan, 3 wins for AEW and a friendly fire main event with the faces going over. Would be a classic show that has something for everyone. |
