Hogan until the Andre feud was having VERY good matches. The "Hogan couldn't work" narrative is 100% not true. They just haven't seen his house show matches. He got 3 very entertaining house show matches against lazy 1985 Don Muraco in a row at MSG. Not everyone could do that.

To me, working is about making what you do work. Get asses in seats. If that is happening because of you, it doesn't matter if you literally only throw a punch. Something about it is emotionally resonating. That's working because it's working.

However, the SNME with his rematch with Andre certainly more than sniffed Austin-era ratings. And merch-wise, do you realize the work one had to do to buy WWE merchant in the 80s/early 90s compared to the late 90s? You know the internet wasn’t a thing then.

And, while longevity itself doesn’t actually measure success, Hogan was the top draw in wrestling for a good 13 years. Saying his longevity at the top pales in comparison to Cena’s is just flat out wrong.

All of these points are just ridiculous.

You can't compare eras. PPV, merch, television was completely different between eras.
