I dont think its humility honestly. Working along side people in recovery... its been really jarring. The mountain theyre trying to climb...i had it easy. Id honestly find it egotistical to lump myself with them. Those who are really putting in the work...well they deserve a lot more credit than they get or have gotten here in this thread even.

Its a situation of their own making, im not trying to paint them as saints or absolve them in any way, but its just so incredibly difficult to course correct after youve truly become addicted. Its a total loss of free will.

I had to help ppl with this too. "Total loss of free will" - fuck, I've never heard a better descriptor. The moment after we talked, and they looked at me with tears streaming down their face and said "Help me!".


Theyve been clean for over a decade, and it's incredible. The journey with her was difficult to witness, but I am thankful for her strength and willingness to move forward.
