He either got hurt on that big powerbomb or right before it when he was kicked in the head by Pac... checking now and he was totally fine and moving really fast up until that point

AEW PPVs usually are 9 matches long and that list has 9 matches. |

Wild Thing might’ve just been an Onita tribute since he used that theme and just announced he was bringing back FMW
but either way cool to hear it |

Also, Page and Sky already attacked Sting that match. Why take focus away from Miro to do it again. It's just too much. |

According to PWTorch, last night's show did around 936k for overall viewership and a 0.31 for key demo ratings.
The viewership drop isn't that surprising but those key demos drop sure are. A month into the end of the Wednesday Night Wars and both them and NXT are back to doing what they were doing during it assuming this trend were to continue. Either the audiences for both shows are still fluctuating too much each week or all those new viewers went back to just watching their main show instead after trying out the other this past month. Showbuzz hasn't released their chart for the night yet so no clue if any outside factors contributed to AEW's drop this week. |

Are they? I thought AEW was hovering around 700-750 before? They seem to still be getting a slight benefit.

Mostly in regards to the demo numbers stuff.
The viewership is still higher than what they were normally averaging but also within what their upper level was during the "war" with NXT. The only real concern is if this become the actual trend going forward since that would mean the post-war boost lasted for just a month. Probably going to be the case for NXT now while probably need a few more weeks to see if its the actual case for AEW since their numbers spike more often in both ways. |

That excuse would only be nonsense had the NBA game involving the Lakers didn't also nose dive badly that week because of Presidential Address news stuff.
The Lakers game dropped by almost the same amount as AEW that week from what they had been averaging for their games on tv this season. |

It's a trend though. This happens every time
And there's always going to be something else on T.V. Always. I hate that excuse |

That still doesn't mean the Presidential Address drop was nonsense as an excuse since AEW's two biggest drops this year was from major political news stuff happening that night.
If you want a really good in depth look at ratings in wresting and actual real trends and viewership volatility, Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston does a fantastic job covering that topic. He's was the one who broke down how volatile AEW's younger audience is compared to WWE's shows and why they spike soo much unlike NXT when it comes to certain competition or political stuff going down on tv. Also him and Meltzer revealing that a lot of AEW down weeks are moot in the end because those weeks tend to be heavier in DVR viewers than usual. |

Brandon's great and I get that. But there's always going to something up against AEW, NXt, WWE, whatever and they always suffer a drop like this after a heavily hyped show.

It shows that there is still interest in special shows, but week to week is not going to keep the same level of interest.

If AEW is still declining a few weeks from now then you could make the case that the finish to Blood & Guts actually drove away viewers for real and not just mostly the casual types who only tuned in that week for that match just like they did with the Shaq match earlier in the year. |

I read something interesting that AEW has lost a fair amount of 35-49 female viewers lately . The reason being put out there is due to the increase of blood.

If people are tuning out of a wrestling show because of blood then good fucking riddance.

My gf who hates wrestling, sat down and watched the entire Nick Gage Dark Side of the Ring last night and thought it was awesome.

Imagine if they did THAT level of a deathmatch. That dude is legit fucking crazy. Entertaining, but crazy.
I can see that style not going over well with the general public. |
