WWE Quack Doctor
What if WWE's doctor from 2016 onwards did not just write off Daniel Bryan, Sting, Edge, Christian and countless others off the active wrestler map by "Medically Retiring Them".

I think Daniel Bryan gets his fair shot at Babyface WWE Championship Run.
I think Sting gets a MUCH BETTER WWE RUN!
Edge gets to determine his end in his 40's rather than in his 50's.
Likewise for Christian and He probably gets a decent RUN at the World title too.

I'm just saying, all 4 of those guys were effectively "RETIRED" by a WWE quack doctor but have all come back stronger than ever.

You can only imagine the WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN moments had they all been allowed to return from 2016 and onwards.

I wouldn't call the Doctor a quack. They all really shouldn't be wrestling after the injuries they've suffered so I get airing on the side of caution.

Edge has openly admitted as much. He took a Batista Bomb a year or two before his retirement and felt both arms go completely numb. And he only made it worse from there. The fact that his injuries healed enough over almost 9 years where he could make an unexpected comeback has no bearing on the fact that he needed to be shut down at the time he was.

None of those guys were misdiagnosed though. Just because they eventually got cleared doesn't mean they were never injured.

Yeah this is one of the worst bad takes I’ve seen for a long time. Just because a guy takes years to heal up before being able to return doesn’t equate to there being no issue in the first place.

Yeah, the Edge thing was an entirely different bear. Part of his return is a result of advances in sports medicine and surgical procedures since his retirement announcement. If he'd have suffered the same injuries a decade sooner, he'd never have been able to come back. If he suffered the same injures a decade later, nobody would be having this discussion because he'd have likely never left beyond being written off TV for fairly standard recovery and rehab time.

Everyone else listed or not (such as Corey Graves... people don't even remember he was initially inring talent anymore) was more a byproduct of bad PR of either evoking images of Chris Be*oit, or getting trigger happy with ass covering.

But WWE quackery isn't new. Remember the mass firings of guys when the company tried to distance itself from it's dealings with a certain doctor (except Brock Lesnar somehow wriggled free of that association)? CM Punk's MRSA story?? The on-again, off-again "severety" of WWE's wellness policy???

Feels more like a game of whatever someone can get away with - company or talent - at the time for whatever suits needs.

For whatever you may think about him, Jeff Hardy got ousted for refusing to piss in a cup. Is it someone the company in question (not limiting this to WWE) don't see much value in and will use any excuse to jettison, or someone who is in the middle of netting them mad bank and attention, so let's downplay the severity of (x issue) either by half-ass diagnoses or "taking the talent at their word" when they downplay something? Will the worst case scenario get us bad press and/or sued?

I think there's a measure of sliding goalposts to this, and we automatically want to assign virtue and honesty to medical practitioners much like folks want to take the word of a cop over the word of random citizen. The doctors around this profession likely lean closer to a wing of HR. Unless it's shit like recessitating Lawler or finding a tumor, it seems to be more about finding the best case scenario for the most interested party - which is usually the company - and working backwards from there to find the diagnoses to suit said scenario.

Do we need Joe Jackoff for next week's PPV matchup? "Mild concussion-like symptoms; passed protocol". Do we think he's gonna die in the ring if he takes a DDT? "Severe concussion; we can't in good con$cience let him wrestle ever again."
