Rate the Game: Week 83
Remember, remember, this second day of November! For it is Week 83 of this amazing journey that's more epic than Dune and more gory than Halloween Kills! I'm certainly eager to see what November has in store for us as far as these games go but we've got to see what October left behind for us last week. We talked about BioShock previously and while there was a decent amount of praise for it ultimately it comes down to where it lands on the leaderboard. How did it fare overall?
Well, Solid Snake finally has some company at his side as BioShock ties with the stealth legend with a 4.33 overall score and shares the number 12 spot, scraping at that door that leads into the elite class. It's quite the exclusive club but still, a pretty strong outing for the journey into Rapture. Well with October behind us let's kick off the new month with a bang...or a dud. Who knows? What do you got for us, bowl? Had to use a different host because my usual place for .gifs was acting up. Well, anyway, the bowl has spoken and has delivered its gift to us! Rate the Game: Week 83 is going to have us look at yet another Genesis mainstay, the sword-slicing action experience known as Shinobi! We have Ninja Gaiden on our leaderboard but how does this particular ninja romp compare? Let's go back to the past and rate this sucker and kick November into gear! Until next week! No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

First played in the arcade and later on my Sega Master System. Game was VERY fun, but also very challenging. I do recall one part of the Lobster levels which had this fucking jump that had to be perfectly executed or you would fall. I would get to the point where I could get through the game without dying, but not this stupid jump.
If I could get past that jump though, I would beat the game every time. Arcade was much harder. This was one of my most played games on Master System until I got Double Dragon. |

I'm going to start something similar to a GoFundMe where we send Lock Jaw all the games on the list he hasn't played.

He doesn't want to do that. The idea of a game and/or console that doesn't just "load up and play the game" does not please Lockington of Jawrus, or so he has said in posts past.

The thing is even though it wasn't as frustrating as Ninja Gaiden, at least in my experience, Ninja Gaiden was more memorable. I don't know. This is a tough one.

I should ask my friend if I can borrow his copy of that Sega Collection so I can give it another go.

Have to ask M-A-G, if the voting stays how it is- one 5 vote and six "Haven't played" votes does the game stay with a 5 average?

Eh, as avid players of both, they feel like different games. If I could take it down to a 4, I would, looking back. The "best" normal weapon in shinobi being a gun was kinda meh, but still. Ninja Gaiden is easily more memorable, imo, because of the saturation of NES consoles in the home. The arcade Ninja Gaiden was WAAAAAAY different. |

If it's at a point where there's just a ridiculous amount of people who haven't played it and it's still just one vote, I'll leave it up to you guys. Personally, I would still put it as part of the list with an asterisk but I'll absolutely do what you guys want. There's still six more days, though, so we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

In a true statistical collection, "not played it" would equate to not being eligible and wouldn't be counted.
never played it = / = 0 |

Yeah but I think when you have over 85% of your pool saying they didn't play it the best practice would be to not assign it a ranking.

If there is an ass washing poll and only Simple Fan votes that does mean 100% of TPWW has dirty asses.

I'll be giving it my rating before the week is up once I give it the once over with the Sega Collection I'm borrowing. I doubt I'll be giving it a 5 as I don't remember it really sticking with me like other games from that time. 2 scores should be the bare minimum, no?

Ninjas are silent killers. Did the gun have a silencer? If so then it is acceptable. If not then that is a fraudulent ninja that probably also lacks the honor to kill themselves for their shame.

A ninja that uses a gun brings shame upon his family.
Unless that ninja is Snake Eyes. Because Snake Eyes is rad. |

Agreed. It's strange that in various character wikis, there's no mention of it!
Me smells a cover up. This is why Sega failed! |

OK, scratch what I said before about frustration. Why the fuck is this thing so anal about the double jumping? I think I repressed all of this.
