If she had said her name it wouldn't have made any difference. You still wouldn't have known who she was or what shes doing there.
It was put in for the marvel nerds who immediately recognize her and mark out. Casual audience at least would recognize Charlize and mark out for her being in the mcu. |

In addition to the chair and cartoon theme, we also got the classic Prof. X mind waves. I was so happy.
He's definitely showing his age though. Sucks to think about, but he may not be around by the time we get to X-men |

My favourite of the phase 4 films, and that’s with me loving spidey, and really enjoying Shang-Chi.
I’ve got a soft spot in fictional media content for “good” characters turning bad, even more so when they are absolutely brutal and fucked up, and even more so again for female characters doing this seemingly as a few of my favourites are all female (MCU Wanda, Dark Willow, Illyria). The Evil Dead camera directions were great and really stood the film out against the pack. Great film. |

I had a nice little “I see what you did there” smirk during the Wanda chase scene. I didn’t so much go “Carrie or Terminator” but could easily see how they’d made her into a relentless zombie-type with the oil streaming down her face and the limp. Really appreciated that.
And a lot of the Raimi tropes too. Bruce Campbell showing up. Some of the framing of shots. There’s more that’s not springing to mind. |

They made a point to say she did the right thing in the end.
They also stated the darkhold heavily influences the user. That combined with all her recent trauma, and it's easy to say she wasn't herself. Not expecting her to win the noble peace prize, but shes far from irredeemable. |

She's almost an afterthought. Any less focus on her and she might as well have just been an artifact.

I think her role was done very well. Often times when you have a plot device character, they tend to overshadow other characters in a way that hurts the film overall. Thats not the case here. She moved the plot along without taking away from Strange and Wanda.
It is a little jarring for me to see her as less confident and unsure of herself, because in the books ive read, she's a tough as nails badass, but shes also far more seasoned in those stories, where as this version is still faily new to using her powers. So maybe we'll get there eventually. |

Feel like it takes away a bit from WandaVision.... like the story of trauma, grief, and learning to "let go".... was just like "Hey, remember that show? Well forget about everything but that she had kids, and just accept that she is evil now"

She was willing to move on until her practicing with the Darkhold in WandaVision's stinger, perhaps dreamwalking, revealed that variants of her kids exist. Right then whatever she learned went out the window along with the corruption of the book.

Film is doing pretty well. its passed The Batman foriegn gross even without playing in Russia Ukraine and China and will pass its global by the end of this weekend. should end somewhere in the 800mil range when its all settled making the 2nd most succesful post covid film (spidey at a whopping 1.8 BILLION) and should place strange 2 above civil war and other very solid MCU outings.
on a 200mil product and (based of industry averages) another 100mil in marketing this would be well above the 15% profit margin expectation. |

However, there was plenty of Raimi-centric fanservice to be had. Got strong Evil Ash vibes from the makeup work on the dreamwalked corpse. |
