star trek: lower decks
just finished its second season this weekend. love this show so much
i was cautious about it when it was announced, bc i was worried about what tone it would strike, but they have nailed it def my favourite trek series right now. when it ribs the previous shows it does so with a genuine love that makes it hard not to like. and the writers' knowledge of obscure throwback shit is superb. cast and characters are great. dunno, love everything about the show tbh (this is not a discovery bashing thread. i really like discovery too. it's a different show with different goals and i think it took them 3 seasons to get to where they want to be but i am keen for season 4) anyway lower decks absolutely rules, you should watch it if you haven't. thanks Quote:

I've only seen the first season but even as a non-Trek fan I laughed my ass off and found it enjoyable. The episode where Mariner gets promoted is my favorite.

They risked show disqualification this season running back the most important part of last season dramatically. If it wasn't Star Trek it would've been enough to stop watching the show.
A lot more stories in this season and not just as much easter-eggs/fan service. Great season and a crazy ending set up by various points in the season. "Captain Janeway" is in trouble! If they run back this without explanation they are done. |

Seeing Riker and Troi at the end of the last season was also a trip. I wasn't sure of the timeline as I'm not really familiar with when things occur as far as the franchise's universe goes. I guess it takes place sometime after Next Generation?

SPOILER: show i assume the thing you're talking about from last season is SPOILER: show i didn't mind it so much because it's not unprecedented by any stretch but yeah, i also completely see/get where you're coming from |

the last TNG movie (nemesis) takes place in 2379 so it's only a year after we last saw that crew though |

love this show, by far my favorite modern Trek show. thought this season was really strong if not a big jump in quality from the first. think Crisis Point from the first season is still my favorite episode overall but plenty of great standouts this season too
