Cody is a goddamn legend man. Wow. He has had a lot of moments in the last few years. This to me was probably the coolest one maybe next too his match with Dustin at DON.

Holy shit @ Cody. What’s the recovery time on this surgery? Hopefully he can cash in on this momentum. This is the kind of performance that puts you in a different stratosphere.

If Vince remembers Cody did this, Cody is gold for the rest of his run.

I enjoyed the show a lot. I find that I enjoy WWE a lot more when I don't watch Raw and Smackdown and just watch the PPV's lol.
Cody Rhodes man. Respect. crazy what running on adrenaline and probably a few pain killers can do sometimes. I'm not a huge fan of a million finishers being hit and false finishes galore, but it was entertaining. Props to Seth to for being able to work around Cody's injury and carry his load. I actually like not needing the World Title to close the show. Keeping the belt on one show is cool with me. |

If Cody had done this a year ago, the SPWW forum would be calling for the head of the guy running the company that allowed it.

It's insane that they let him go--but it was a wise short-term business decision for Cody. He solidified his brand something fierce.

It always seems to trigger a nonsensical response when I shine a light on cult hypocrisy. That’s unfortunate. Would you like to talk about it?

The match lasted 24 minutes.
A complete tear of the Pec. Remember back when HHH tore his pec it was DURING the match so he had all the adrenaline. Cody tore his pec BEFORE the match. So he had to go through that match knowing how much pain he was going to be in and how brutal it was going to be. Cody is in my eyes now the absolute TOUGHEST wrestler there is. |

I’m torn. At first I was like “Why let him work injured?” But you can see why Cody (and Vince, but especially Cody) would see value in this impression being made. He can go away and “play it safe,” come back and be…whatever that is. Or he can come back after leaving this distinct fucking impression and if he was already worth what he was being paid, he’ll be worth double it then.
The smart business kind of trumps the truthfully barbaric nature of wrestling on this one, I think. All the press I’ve seen from it has been “Holy shit, wow.” A bit different from a guy getting concussed in the middle of a match and the company just ignoring it. For example. |

The negative consequence on this, outside of it has caused Cody any more complications, is if this becomes the new Foley jumping off the roof and we go backwards towards guys gutting out things they shouldn’t and companies thinking it makes them “cool” to send out guys with bicep tears or whatever to fall apart. |

Multiple prominent writers said they heard from people all over the industry that it was the gutsiest, craziest thing anyone has ever seen. And that's people praising him from all over. He's gonna be seen as a badass and even WWE isn't going to be criticized for this because it was a fully torn pec and it was his decision

Like thing about this. The guy had NO motion at all without feeling pain. Simple bumps would have caused severe pain. And he did it for 24 minutes.
I'm one of CM Punk's biggest fans. But I mean the guy could walk to the ring. Undertaker wrestled on a broken foot in the hell in a cell. Multiple other wrestlers have gone through way worse. I don't see Punk in a boot or a cast. So he's a bitch. Plain and simple. |

The story I would love to hear from this is that he partially tore his pec on Monday (storyline). So when he found that out, he opted to train to TEAR the pec fully ON PURPOSE. It would be a crazy way to talk about the injury but he's already a psycho and badass for competing in the match. Who's to say he didn't tear it this bad on purpose knowing that if it was only partially torn, he couldn't compete in the match. It's a completely fucked up thing to say and believe but at this point who the fuck cares.

And what he’s reaping from this totally helps me understand his decision. He’s stepping up, he’s being that main event guy, that true star. I do think it will lead to diminishing returns the next time someone wants to do this because they want to be as tough as Cody Rhodes, because they need to stand out somehow, but miss the part where Cody can give the performances outside that, this was a main event match, etc.
People thought Foley was just over because of the bumps. They missed the promos, his selling, his top level work for years. He was also the guy to do something on that scale that way. Most other things (all?) have failed to live up because they’re chasing its tail. |

Look at Brock and Roman from this years Mania. If memory served me, they both got hurt early on. But they both gutted it out and went on for another 5-8 minutes before the match ended. Because they get it. They know what it's like to be seen as the top star and the responsibilities with it.

If there's anyone that Cody indirectly gives a middle finger too and makes their actions look completely stupid is Sasha Banks and Naomi. Cody goes out, wrestles the main event of a PPV inside a gimmick match designed to influence extreme pain and punishment with an injury that most people would get surgery for right away if they could and on the flip Banks is crying because another female comes back and takes her spot in the main event. I understand being upset but this is a huge FUCK YOU to the both of them.

That is exactly it, they said if it was a partial tear he would not have been cleared, but with it already completely torn it there was little risk of making it worse, just extremely painful.

I think it goes without saying that WWE won the PPV contest this month. Double or Nothing feels like nun’s fart compared to the stir Cody made.

Yeah, I don’t get the link between the two situations. Good for Cody “sucking it up” and fighting through an injury but I don’t think that says anything in regards to someone “sucking it up” when it comes to being unhappy with their booking.
