AEW probably matters to TBS who has the #1 show on Wednesday night in all of cable. Or does #1 on cable no longer matter?

My issue is more belts means more people carrying them and that takes away from it being special. Right now we have 2 world champions, 2 network champions, and tag champs. 6 people walking around with gold. That’s enough. Adding a 3rd title when the secondary belt is already on a placeholder champ isn’t going to add prestige to winning a belt.

A third title doesn’t make whoever takes the world title and current TNT champ Scorpio Sky look more special. IMO it just normalized carrying a belt. It’s the same issue with title overload I had with WWE when they were touting 2 world champs, IC/US champs, tag champs and women champs. It’s just too much.

I can only assume you two are talking about how awesome AEW is. I agree. Very good show that America just needs to realize is out there. Then it will be #1 with a bullet. It’s so refreshing to see professional wrestling that doesn’t spit in the mouth of wrestling fans. Is it perfect? No. Nothing is. And people need to stop holding television to the standard of their childhood. Is it even possible to get an audience of over 1 million people who aren’t bots paid for by FOX and NBC?

Glad we have AEW. It’ll take about 50 years to undo the WWE’s horrible stain its put on culture, but each true match put together by the wrestlers who LOVE this business is one step closer. We’ll get there, pizza-cutter at a time.

You mean they have been #1 before, in one specific demo, not total viewers mind you, and even in that demo they have not been number 1 in 3 months.

I guess number 1 for a single episode every 3 months or so now means Mark's can use it to brag indefinitely.

Brag about being number one in a demo that lost 14% from the following week.

No. #1 in the same key demo that was always used for the “Raw is #1 for the night in all of cable!” derps. AEW did it it last week and does it quite often but it doesn’t matter apparently anymore. Gotta shift those goalposts.

It seemed you’d gotten a little smarter over the past week or two and stopped desperately looking for a “W” only to say something stupid and embarrass yourself. But alas…

ROH belts should disappear unless there in an active angle over said belts and the Owen belts shouldn’t exist.

I honestly think if that happened one more isn’t going to make or break things. I am kinda anti trios belt for your reasoning though.

I think Jay White is deserving of it. They just never do a very good job of building up to him winning it.

I also would have preferred a longer reign from Okada.

AEW is #1, OK? Forget viewership, women, POC, advertising revenue — the number that matters is how popular you are with people 18-49. Because people 18-49 with cable in 2022, especially if they’re closer to 50, are the sort of influencers advertisers want to target. They give off Elon Musk musk. I mean, Dave Meltzer says so, and he only switched to that metric recently so it must be current information.

I’ve heard people point out that shows like Big Bang Theory and many others actually do better than it. Where’s that data, huh? Why doesn’t Showbuzz release charts about the Top 150 UNORIGINAL programs if they’re even important at all? Who cares if the ads shown in those slots reach more people from more diverse backgrounds with more expendable capital? It’s all about reaching 400k 47 yr olds with ORIGINAL programming. That’s all that matters. Not women. Not people actually willing to spend money. Not people who actually influence culture. It just so happens the number AEW does proportionately well in is the one that matters right now. Maybe next year it will be something else? You’ll just have to bear with us on that.

AEW rules, it’s super-successful. Anyone who denies that it is good for pro-wrestling is the same as someone trying to stop medicine from reaching the poor. All you do is post memes and hate on CM Punk, who is basically Fleming to wrestling, so that’s you TOLD.

AEW 4eva! (unless Warner Bros doesn’t appreciate what a gold mine they have an cancel it because they irrationally HATE wrestling)
