How can I get a full screen on my TV when connecting it to a laptop with a HDMI?

My 32" Sony Bravia won't show in full screen when I hook it up to my laptop. Is there a solution for this?

I know for my computer, it doesn't display the full screen because your laptop/desktop is most likely not at 1080p (1920x1024) or 720p (1280x720).

Do you know what video card you have? Is it ATI or Nvidia?

Whatever card it is, does it have a program that lets you adjust settings? For example, ATI has Catalyst Control Center and I can go into a menu and have the program scale up the desktop space so it can fill out the TV screen.

Sorry I couldn't tell you. I'm useless with computer specs. This is my laptop though:

Hmm, the quick work around would be to use the TV as your primary display (and disable the laptop screen).
