According to the Observer, the main reason why WWE refused to release Neville until recently was due to them not wanting to set any precedent in the future if they caved into his demands and also so that NJPW couldn't get him that easily.
Also confirmed the terms of Neville's release did not include a non-compete clause so he's free to work elsewhere without any restrictions. |

A lot of folks expected him to jump to a US company but I was hoping he'd go to one of the UK fed's or Japan. Didn't expect Dragon Gate, was a surprise.

He has original character, left WWE on his own for his own reasons and didn't jump to the most likely suspect.
