Mike Tyson is the scariest athlete of my lifetime. In the late 80s/early 90s he seemed like pure evil. That being said he completely destroyed that reputation from the mid 90s on. He’s made a bit of a resurgence lately but I can’t blame anyone born after 1990 for not seeing the big deal.

Not loving the Tyson stuff... I think its a mix of Tyson not really setting it alight, the yawn, the shirt rip which isnt his fault granted and the fact that I just cant take Jericho having beef with him seriously.
I'm not a massive Jericho fan but I do rate him. I don't see him as the confrontational bruiser type though so this kind of feels out of character to me. Dunno... Just not working for me. |

I saw a clip of the Tyson stuff. Man, the production of these shows just doesn't create that "spark." WWE are no better. Things are just so sterile and everything comes off as a set piece. It's not just the lack of crowd either. That's obviously a thing, but it's just the way guys are blocked out these days.
Tyson vs. Jericho is a fine idea in conception, but I don't think the execution of it can live up to the mental ideas people have, and it's going to come off as way inferior to "Austin and Tyson!" FTR are good signings. Smart moves to bring them in as babyfaces at first. It's a shame that the best tag teams are in WWE. The only other released talent AEW should snatch up is Miro Barnyashev. But I have a feeling they'll turn him into a comedy goof pretty quickly. |

I would like to see Miro too. Of all the WWE releases he would be the best IMO to sign up.

He'd have to issue it since the current one is only in effect for Cody's reign. Sort of like what happened when WWE did Open Challenges for Cena and Reigns.

I mean I think we all know Jungle Boy isn’t going to win the title. Cody’s going to put him over big to make him seem important but he’s not winning.
Which is fine. |

Oh, we know he’s not going to otherwise Cody won’t be able to do the Open Challenge that he promoted on Wednesday. That’s the problem.

It's exactly like WWE. I mean, of all the things to rip off, the John Cena Open Challenge stuff is probably one of the better things you can take, but it's the same right down to it being for an unnecessary secondary championship. |

I mean yeah, that’s your head canon. The reality is they’ve given away Jungle Boy isn’t winning. Unless someone has a car accident

I like an Open Challenge gimmick, they should have just made it a stip on the belt rather than implemented by Cody. Lots of room for heel shenanigans to get out defending.

They can do that without the stip too. It doesn’t lock them down into anything though. I still don’t understand the point of this championship though. Why does it exist? It was my same problem with NXT’s North American Title, all the titles in WWE, and even in New Japan.
