Wouldn't be a surprise if it was real or a work either way. I don't really know where TNA are going with this angle so it might make a little sense to have them come out and say they are being persecuted by the TNA roster.

I mean I can't be the only one who is getting some shard of comedic value out of this.

I mean just picture this. You're RIC FLAIR. You're in a new company, something a little bit less "big time" than the employer you worked for previously. While your career and legacy spans decades and dates back to the fucking Nixon Administration, you are now in a place with a plethora of up and comers, and while many of the workers are also older and have "paid their dues", many haven't.

So you're at a bar post show, a bar NEAR the studio, that MANY of the other wrestlers go to afterward. Your sweaty after another show, your skin is red and ragged, you're disappearing yet immaculate rag of hair is drenched, but you're the Nature Boy and "WOOOOOOO!", get me a drink! And then another. And another.

And then, after several, Ric is feeling buzzed, feeling like he's got his jet flyin', limousine ridin', wheelin and dealin son of a gun state of mind right where he wants it. He's the Nature Boy! So he's shooting the shit with of the guys, talking about the wrestling scene in general, and holy shit what is that guy over there doing? Holy hell who is that? Is that....is that one of those queer-mo-sexuals? Well "WOOOOOOOOOO!", I'm going to go set this kid straight. See, if you wanna beat the man, you gotta BEAT the man, but you're not supposed to "beat" him like that...

Seriously there have to be a million reasons to throw Flair under the bus that are better than this.

This guy has a point. The mass majority of wrestling fans are male. Why would any male give a flying fuck if a wrestler is bi-sexual or gay. I don't hate 'em for it. But I don't like 'em for it either. And I sure as fuck don't care to hear about it. This is just another page out of the Russo book, trying to get mass publicity. Women in wrestling are largely trophies or fuck dolls. Women attracted to wrestling tend to already be drawn because of the dudes doing stuff that is incredibly homoerotic. And alienating a major part of your fanbase (childish homophobes who like watching oily men spoon) for a minor part is fucking stupid.

If they want gays kissing, they can go watch LOGO. I seriously doubt anyone got into wrestling with any delusion that it was some sort of open minded community that welcomes people. It was only in the last few years that "gay tendencies" didn't make someone almost an instant heel. Hell, Muhammad Hassan got booed before he did anything heelish for saying things like "I am an arab American" and "Praise Allah."

Oh, and he had a manager that spoke ferner.

I'm pretty sure pro wrestling will end up being one of the last bastions of televised homophobia. Probably not the last, but they still televise evangelical douchebags. And daytime talk shows.
