Rate the Game: Week 61
How's it hanging, boys and girls? Ready for another week of this shindig? We've surpassed the 60th week which is truly a milestone...somewhat. Last week's Condemned: Criminal Origins wasn't exactly one of the more popular titles amongst the TPWW community as I would have thought as there was a surprisingly large number of people who hadn't played it. Fortunately, I wasn't entirely alone when it came to people who had played it and so we still can figure out where it ranks amongst the rest of the pack as we determine it's average rating. The leaderboard is prepped and ready to receive another entry. And away we go...
Well, as it stands the few people who did play it and rate it helped Condemned: Criminal Origins secure the number 37 spot and place it alongside Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. If that's not the biggest contrast between use of first-person perspective in terms of gaming, I don't know what is. I mean, there's porn obviously but that's a whole other issue. An issue we don't have time to tackle as we've got to move on to another game! Let's dive in and see what's on tap for this week.... Well, I would imagine this game touched the lives of more of you than the last one. This week, our game to rate is the Konami arcade quarter-munching beat-'em-up based on another popular franchise, The Simpsons. How does this '90s staple of arcades and Chuck E. Cheese's nationwide stack up? What fond memories, if any, do you have of it? Is it indeed a classic? Rate and vote and discuss and rant and all of that good stuff. Until next week! No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

Probably could have been higher if it came out later, and would thus have more characters and references from the show. Still fun, but doesn't compare to its fellow Konami beat em ups. |

It's TOO CLOSE TO CALL as to what drained more of my quarters between this, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and X-Men.

I love how this is an achievement and that they use that picture for the icon.

Sideshow Bob should have been a boss. And maybe Drederick Tatum could be like a power up or something.

definitely don't know how many quarters I wasted on this game. Remember beating it with a "random" in a mall arcade once. That was fun.
I miss arcades |

Of the big three from Konami, this is probably the one I played the least but only because it wasn't in as many places. I could find X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles almost anywhere but Simpsons, not so much. I remember being so miffed about it never being ported to any home consoles for a long time.

That was one of the great things of the days of the arcade cabinets. It was a nice little surprise seeing where one would pop up. I remember a laundromat had Mortal Kombat 2, some Mexican restaurant had Street Fighter 2 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a supermarket would have Primal Rage, Darkstalkers, and Ninja Baseball Batman, and even a local shithole of a pizza place had X-Men. I suppose it was nice way to earn a little extra cash on top of your business.

^This! The sole Pizza Hut that we had would often switch out what game was in the cabinet. They would have a jukebox as a constant fixture and right next to it we would be dazzled by stuff like Samurai Shodown and what not.
