A long play for India is a much wiser move than expecting instant success there. Plus it gives people a long time to forget how crappy Jinder Mahal was.

WWE's tour of India is down to one stop.

The Times of India confirmed today that WWE's planned December 8th house show at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi has been canceled, with the December 9th date at the venue now being branded as a "Supershow."

In a match that was set up a few days ago, Triple H vs. Jinder Mahal has been announced as the main event. Mahal will be the only SmackDown representation on what is otherwise a Raw house show ...

Jeet Rama & Kishan Raftar, who are Performance Center trainees from India, will now be wrestling in their home country as they face Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas. Kevin Owens will no longer be appearing on the tour after originally being scheduled to challenge for Mahal's WWE Championship before he dropped it to AJ Styles.

As we reported at the time, until Neville was actually released, there was always a chance that the two sides could come to terms, paving the way for his return to the company. If what we are hearing is correct, that road has been paved.

Went back down to the lobby, the guy wouldn't let me in even though I just checked in a few minutes earlier. Dropped the pizza on the floor when he finally did let me in. Not saying that anybody is gonna do it in this match, but I think going forward as War Games becomes -- I try to think about the future. Look, Arn Anderson wasn't doing moonsaults off the top of the cage. So, I think there's a difference in how the business is done. This allows for there to a be a little bit of a different opportunity to do some things. I don't feel, personally, that we have changed the concept of what it is."

Though the rules have been tweaked, Triple H said he thinks they work better for today's generation. And while there are some changes, he said the match is still about teams "going to war" and it worked with the storyline that The Undisputed Era, SAnitY, and The Authors of Pain & Roderick Strong are involved in.

Triple H noted that WWE using War Games and Starrcade this month was a coincidence and the decisions were made independently. He said he's always been interested in bringing back War Games and has been looking for the right time since NXT started up. He called TakeOver: War Games a chance to take something from the past into the future and slightly reinvent it while still staying consistent with Dusty Rhodes' vision.

Full-time employees increased from 45 to 61. It would have been the company’s most revenue since 1997, but in those days, a far larger percentage of the revenue would have been ticket sales. The revenue was 2.007 billion yen in tickets, 1.196 billion yen in merchandise, 656 million in television rights fees (plus New Japan World revenue).

If you go with the idea that on average there were 55,000 New Japan World subscribers at $8, and it’s a 50/50 revenue share with TV-Asahi, that would be $220,000 per month or $2.64 million per years, so all their TV deals combined would only be $3.14 million per year which is the difference between a Japanese based wrestling business and an American based sports business where it’s all about television revenue and very little about ticket sales and merchandise. When Tanahashi first got hot and the company began its comeback, it was doing $9 million annually in gross revenue, so it has quadrupled business in about six years. It’s still not even five percent as large revenue wise as WWE, which will gross in excess of $700 million this year. Profitability the gap is a lot closer. From January 1 through September 30 of this year, WWE profits were $27.8 million
Some comparisons on how huge the gap is between NJPW and WWE in terms of revenues.

She’s also asking for a 50/50 split between her and the promotion for autograph and picture money and asking for 100 percent of her own other merchandise money (also consistent with most guidelines). She also asks for creative control, the ability to approve her opponent and do her own finishes, which in regular indies isn’t a deal-breaker since any top guy is basically going to have the right to approve that, but for some of the companies that run full-time and do storylines, that has been them balk. They are also asking for a 50 percent deposit ahead of time, which is also consistent with what most top stars on the market do unless they are working for a promoter they have a developed a long relationship with

Of that money, Flair is saying they didn't inform him about $25,000 they received from First Row Films, which is Rory Karpf's production company. Karpf directed ESPN's 30 for 30 documentary on Flair.

The TMZ report states that Flair also noticed a $12,000 royalty advance he never got for an endorsement deal with Jake's Fireworks. Flair says Legacy Talent and Entertainment told him they were using the money to pay legal bills when he inquired about it, something Flair denies he approved.

Shortly after his health scare earlier this year, Flair announced that he was parting ways with Legacy Talent and Entertainment and their CEO Melinda Morris Zanoni. He is now being represented by Get Engaged Media.

The three hours were:

9 p.m. 3.19 million viewers

Even though recent weeks have been higher than same period last year, probably still end with a lower year average because of how poor the numbers were in the first half of the year.

Meltzer mentioned that Vince McMahon thinking Balor wasn't over enough to face Lesnar right now was one of the reasons behind the decision.

Meltzer also speculated that McMahon may have made up his mind prior to the official change of plans given how Balor was positioned in the men's elimination tag match at Survivor Series. It isn't clear who will be challenging for Lesnar's title at the Royal Rumble at this point in time.

Balor lost to Samoa Joe by referee stoppage due to passing out in the Coquina Clutch on Monday's episode of Raw. After defeating AJ Styles at TLC, Balor lost to Kane on Raw the next night and was laid out by him the following week. The idea was apparently to build Balor back up prior to the Royal Rumble.

With the first month being free to new subscribers and it being $9.99 to anyone else, that wouldn’t seem to be much of a deal. Much of the appeal of still offering traditional PPV is to reach people without good internet connections, but you’d need one to watch Survivor Series with this option anyway.

Some updates on the lawsuit Flosports, Inc. brought against EVOLVE parent company WWNLive Inc. back in September.

The lawsuit, seeking $1 million in damages, was originally filed in the United States District Court of Travis County, Texas revolves around allegations that WWN, run by Sal Hamaoui and Gabe Sapolsky, had "robbed Flosports" by provided false information that led to the streaming provider paying inflated prices for WWN content.

WWN filed a motion on 11/13, requesting the lawsuit being dismissed, citing that the suit was filed in a venue (Texas) that lacks jurisdiction over WWNLive. Flosports had argued the case should be heard in Texas since they were doing business with WWN in that State. In their 22-page filing, WWN argued that their business was based in Florida, as are its business records and bank accounts ...

WWNLive also argued that Flosports has failed to actually state a claim regarding their allegation there has been "negligent misrepresentation" on the part of WWNLive. Flosports' lawsuit alleges that "WWN negligently or otherwise misrepresented the number of fans purchasing pay-per-view and video-on-demand access to their fighting events. When pressed for the data that backed up WWN’s spreadsheet of viewership, WWN originally claimed it had lost or deleted that information. Ultimately, WWN sent records listing many subscribers more than once and including purchasers of DVDs instead of broadcast services. Even with that artificial inflation of viewership, the numbers WWN attempted to account for were far less than those represented in its initial spreadsheet." Thus, "WWN induced FloSports to pay it hundreds of thousands of dollars based on data that was not only inaccurate and unreliable; it was just plain false."

WWNLive responded by denying there were any falsehoods in the Spreadsheet data Flosports received from WWN, noting, "That data was pulled from and compiled by a now-defunct third-party company named Fineline Hosting that was based in Florida." WWN is arguing that since the data was compiled by a Florida company (one that is now defunct) and was emailed to Flosports from Florida, there is no actual merit to claiming "negligent misrepresentation" in the state of Texas - even if there was indeed inaccurate information ...

Flosports alleged that they have "Invested time and money that it will never recover in the market" noting, "since viewership drives FloSports’ subscription-base and its advertising revenue, WWN’s misrepresentations robbed FloSports..." WWN responded to that, citing, "Texas law is unequivocal, however, that benefit of the bargain damages are not recoverable for a claim of negligent misrepresentation" and claim that Flosports' own language in the lawsuit admits such, therefore the negligent misrepresentation count should be dropped.

But he’s making a ton of money right now and when you are, unless it’s an injury situation, the lure of one more year is pretty great. I can’t think of one person who truly walked away on his own except Michaels, although guys like Orton have remained with a reduced schedule and are really happy with it. There could be that compromise when his contract expires (early 2019) so he could still make good money while having more time to be with his family

Fite TV offered New Japan is significant guarantee for PPV rights outside of Japan but New Japan wasn’t interested in the deal. It is leaving money on the table, because there are people who will order a PPV, and there would also be advertising for the PPV that will hit people that aren’t going to order New Japan World. But the New Japan mentality is they want everyone they can on New Japan World with the idea of this show building numbers and retaining them going forward. Really New Japan should at this point be working with American partners to do four major shows a year, the Dome, G-1 finals, Dominion and a fourth similar show from a major U.S. city, and put them on live PPV and then follow it a week or two later with TV specials on AXS similar to the big event boxing model
Quote:
ric Van Wagenen of Lucha Underground on the Masks, Mats and Mayhem show said they would tape an episode count in the 20s from mid-February through the end of March, and the show would start airing in the late spring or early summer. He said taping so many episodes so quickly is due to the budget constraints and that the goal is to make it appear too the viewers that the shows don’t have a greatly lowered budget and noted cutbacks in things like vignettes. He said they’ll be taping every weekend during that period and may do some three nights of tapings (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) certain weeks. He said a deal is in place not only for next season, but also seasons five, six and seven, working with the new budget. He said the plan would be a set of tapings once a year, at the same time, so season five would, in theory, be taped in the spring of 2019.

Because of only using talent two months a year, they are relaxing the restrictions on where the talent is allowed to work as far as television goes. The original idea was for them to be exclusive on North American television to Lucha Underground. Now the idea is that they would allow talent to work on TV in other groups and said in specific they are opening doors to ROH (which explains Joey Ryan in ROH this past weekend), NOAH, Impact and Stardom. He said they are also open to letting people out of their contracts who don’t want to stay. He said they would give people releases who don’t want to stay, but asked that they return for at least part of next season so they could write their characters out or have them drop championships if they have them. If that is the case, then the issue a lot of talent had should be rectified if they are able to get releases if they ask for them. It’ll be interesting who decides to stay at that point, because the one issue is that WWE won’t use anyone under contract to another company and don’t want to have a tampering case, so it’s been hands off on bringing people in for tryouts or directly offering people from here any deals. The one issue is they don’t have a location to tape at this point as the studio in Boyle Heights is being used, but the hope is to find a place in the Los Angeles area.

WWE programming alone would up FS 1's prime time average, but the negative is that as a sports station, there is the question as to whether WWE should fit into that category. For WWE, their audience would surely decline moving from USA to FS 1, both because USA has a much higher base prime time audience and because (based on August numbers), USA is available in 91,898,000 homes whereas FS is in 84,221,000 homes. Less audience available means and lower profile television which means fewer fans, although the difference in tens of millions annually greatly overrides whatever decline that will cause. And there are ways to reach fans other than television that are more meaningful than in the past. Nobody knows how quick the migration will be regarding the value of television time from a promotional standpoint, as well as monetary, as compared with streaming. Since UFC events on FS 1 stream and air on television, we do have actual numbers and of late, it’s still more than 98 percent of viewers will watch the FS 1 shows on FS 1 as opposed to streaming it on their television or watching it away from their television.

What makes this notable is that if FOX does keep UFC, the value of WWE for them goes down significantly. They could easily air both, since UFC is mostly Saturday nights and WWE is Monday and Tuesday, but it’s questionable that the station would want to pay the costs for both promotions.

WWE also met with CBS, Disney, Amazon and YouTube, to get ready for its next round of negotiations. Right now, no serious negotiations can take place because NBC Universal, the parent company of the USA Network, has an exclusive negotiations period that ends in about four months.

A lobbying effort led to the repeal of that rule and now they are back doing TV in the state. What makes this story funny is it's written that blood is a huge part of WWE, when it hasn't been for years, and that 99.99 percent of the time there is blood, it's theatrics, when actually, unless it's Vince McMahon or Brock Lesnar, and both of them would deny that's the case for them as well, blood is always accidental and theatrical blading has been banned in WWE for years. They acted like this would bring tons of tourism money for hotels, restaurants and shopping into town, which may be the case to a degree for a minor PPV and more for a major one, but hardly for Smackdown tapings that have been struggling to draw for the last several months.

"I think he might have looked too good. I think when you get when you hang around or you show up and you look that good, they in the WWE, they're ready for you to come back. You know, closer to the time after WrestleMania and I think I said that I believe we've seen the last of Undertaker in the ring. Now, I’m going to I'm going to go back on my word. Just looking at him the other night, I think there's some more matches left in the Undertaker.

So there's a TV and monitor to watch the show. There were three seats. Three chairs in front of the monitor and I was sitting in the one on the left hand side and in the middle now, to my right, sitting next to me, was Undertaker. And to his right sitting next to him was Kane.

We were all just sitting here watching the show talking about old times and stuff, and all of a sudden, the door happened to be open. All of a sudden, we saw John Cena. He went past the door and glanced in, and then he just went past. Suddenly we saw him backing up, he just backed up, and he looked in at the three of us sitting there - and he said, ‘that's pretty cool.’ And he just walked on."

The CBS channels are being restored, Dish said in a separate statement.

CBS content was pulled off Dish networks on Tuesday over a dispute that revolved around how much Dish would pay for 28 local CBS channels as well as three cable channels: Smithsonian Channel, Pop, and CBS Sports Network.

Negotiations between content distributors and programmers have become increasingly fraught as more viewers opt to watch their favorite shows online.

CBS went dark for about 12 hours during a similar carriage dispute with Dish in 2014.

No matter what is booked, Brock Lesnar is scheduled to be appearing at the Royal Rumble in some capacity but it's possible he may not be defending his title. With Finn Balor seemingly out and Braun Strowman not a realistic possibility, the only wrestlers left are guys like Bray Wyatt, Elias, Jason Jordan - who are actually in worse position than Balor.

Samoa Joe is a possibility and would likely be the best alternative as it could be a singles match for the title.

After Cody Rhodes posted a picture with The Young Bucks and Marty Scurll on a "scouting trip" at a venue earlier this month, Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Cody and The Young Bucks are in talks with multiple venues to self-finance a 10,000 seat show in 2018. The report noted that the show, which has been talked about for months, is currently planned to be called "All In" and mentioned Chicago, London, San Francisco, and Ontario, California as possibilities for where it could take place.

The idea originated from a Twitter exchange between Dave Meltzer and Cody in May, with Cody taking it as a challenge when Meltzer answered "not any time soon" when someone asked if Ring of Honor could sell over 10,000 tickets to an event. Cody and the Bucks would be partnering with ROH on the show if they're able to reach an agreement.
Cody and Bucks still need to get ROH's permission to do the show and no non-WWE promotion since WCW's demise has pulled off a 10k crowd show.

Sekimoto will be in action exclusively at those events, which will take place at the Pontchartrain Center.

Sekimoto, who received votes for Most Outstanding Wrestler in the 2016 Observer awards and in years past, wrestles for Big Japan Pro Wrestling, as well as AJPW and other promotions. His matches for WWN will be the first time he's appeared stateside in several years. No opponents for him have been announced yet.

EVOLVE will be going against a Revolution Pro Wrestling show on April 6th, with Hiroshi Tanahashi previously confirmed for RevPro. Tanahashi (along with Kenny Omega) is also scheduled for ROH's Supercard of Honor XII on April 7th in New Orleans.

Rey Mysterio & Pentagon (using that name) vs. Rush & John Morrison

As Mike Johnson wrote on the site yesterday, “The show was never slated to be a special and was produced as a house show, but WWE did film it with several cameras (they typically film every live event) so they would have it in their archives to offer via the Network down the line if they choose to do so. The show itself was written by Michael Hayes, who was the person that pitched the revival of the Starrcade name back in June. We are told that Hayes, realizing that WWE was running Greensboro over Thanksgiving weekend, seized on the importance of the timing and the tradition in the market to pitch that the show be branded as a "Starrcade" event. Vince McMahon approved the idea and it was announced several months later. The show was specifically written by Hayes with an eye on paying tribute to names who were important to to the market during the Jim Crockett Promotions era and with throwback graphics for the show.”

We are told this week's decision was one made by Ed Nordholm. There is no word yet what sparked the decision, but it opens the door for the company to try and mend fences with fans angered by the company's former stance against the Hardys ...

The move also appears to be made as a way to open things up between the company and its wrestlers in a way that has never been done before by a major, national promotion. It would allow the company to partner with its contracted talents to build characters and intellectual property together, as opposed to Impact claiming ownership of those characters if and when the talents move on at the end of their Impact run.

In particular, the agreement with the Hardys is that the Hardys will now retain ownership and all rights to the personas they used in TNA. The story behind it is that the Hardys were able to show financial and contractual digressions which left Anthem in a bad way, and this may be a public saving face for the company of just saying that they are being good guys and will be letting talent keep their gimmicks because of the feeling that it would end up that way based on a precedent that would be set in the Hardys case.

The reason for all the women call-ups is just that the feeling was with the same seven or eight women on each brand being featured, you’ve pretty much burned through most of the match-ups and there had become a sameness to the women’s divisions, and this would shake things up. Really, on the Raw side, they still hadn’t gotten to the Bliss vs. Jax program that was being built up and has subsided, and you’ve still got Asuka’s run and Paige was coming back either way (although originally earmarked for Smackdown). Smackdown was always building to Charlotte’s title win and there was still the Charlotte vs. Tamina feud they were building toward, but that side did need more new names ...

The book on Logan is that she’s a good worker but she hadn’t gotten any push in NXT and really was in developmental for a short period of time. It’s not a negative on her, but it does say that those in charge are looking more heavily at working ability for the women than ever before with that decision, unless there is some gimmick or idea that we don’t know about that is why that decision was made. But she was just brought up as part of a group, and maybe the idea is that she can be the workhorse of a team with Liv Morgan. I guess the next few weeks will give a better idea

If this is indeed NXT's show that will air it will be the first time that the current incarnation of the product airs on the USA Network.

Here's the schedule for the events:

January 19th -- The Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island
January 20th -- The Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts
January 21st -- The Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York

Vince McMahon previously mentioned the idea of cruiserweight-only house shows on a conference call in February, but no timetable for them was given then. For those who have asked where 205 Live's Gran Metallik and TJP have disappeared to, we are told neither is injured but it's a case of WWE not having anything for them at the moment. Rather then spend money to fly them around the country to hang around backstage, they are being kept at home until creative works them back into the mix.

WWE filed a trademark on the Paige crew "Absolution" on 11/27. I would suspect they are in the process of doing the same for "Riott Squad."
Original filing for "Ruby Riot" got contested which is the reason for Ruby Riott's new name.

One thing for certain is that with Callis in a power position, that Bruce Prichard won’t be back, although that seems to have been already in the cards since Jeff Jarrett left. When they did the angle on television getting rid of Prichard, he was to return as a heel manager, but there have been so many changes since that angle was shot and his name hadn’t been mentioned since, but this would probably lock the door on that one happening because of past heat between the two from WWE.

Callis and D’Amore will be part of a three-man creative team, with Sonjay Dutt, who remains head of talent relations and day-to-day creative. Callis and D’Amore will also manage and execute company business. Callis is unlikely to become an on-screen character as when he was studying the company since a deal was expected to go down, he felt that Jim Cornette was a great performer but felt the authority figure regularly appearing on a wrestling show gimmick was played out.

But the talent level will decline. The company has its fixed income sources, mostly the Sony Six television deal from India and the other international deals. The company had talked a few months ago about getting back in the house show business, but after booking a group of shows in the New York area that didn’t draw well, they have scheduled nothing since.

There is a claim that Quetzal stiffed her because Sexy wasn’t cooperating, while Sexy said she was the victim. Quetzal said everything she tried to do, that Sexy was uncooperative and said she was a fan of Sexy Star and was disappointed. She also said Reyna Isis is as unprofessional as Sexy Star. It also could be old-school mentality that a TV star comes into pro wrestling and the wrestlers try to teach her respect by making it difficult for her. I’m not advocating this, as everyone outside the business would say this is silly, and you don’t hear much about it in the U.S. business anymore, but it was part of the business in the U.S., Mexico and Japan until the modern era

It’ll be interesting to see if Lashley, at 41, tries to go back and fight because he pulled out of Bellator to concentrate on pro wrestling because of his contract, and that storyline was kind of a weird way real life mimicking storyline. The belief right now is WWE and ROH have interest in Edwards, with the WWE interest likely for NXT. They passed on him years ago, but that was when they had the negative mentality toward ROH stars that is no longer the case, and it was also as a tag team with Davey Richards, and they are no longer a team

The situation with Chelsea Green (Knockouts champion Laurel Van Ness) is that after she won the title, hours later, she asked for a release and it was turned down. The company was really upset because they had already gone through several days of tapings and angles to build for her winning. She admitted she had made a mistake in not asking for the release on the first day of the tapings and then going through all the plans of making her champion without saying anything. Apparently there was an agreement that, since she held the belt, that this wasn’t supposed to be talked about publicly anywhere until she lost the title. Unless they arrange something at an indie show quickly, that wouldn’t be until the January taping and the last word we heard is that it would be at the January taping.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has made it clear to SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan that Dr. Joseph Maroon will be the person that makes the final decision regarding Bryan possibly being allowed to wrestle in WWE again.

Meltzer notes that the angle between Bryan and Shane McMahon is not designed to lead to them having match against each other.

Keep in mind that things could change and there is talk about Bryan being allowed to work a limited schedule in WWE if Maroon clears him. If WWE doesn’t clear him, then Bryan has made it clear in interviews that he wants to wrestle again in October once his WWE contract expires.

While there has been speculation about Bryan turning heel, a Shane heel turn is also being rumored for the Clash of Champions PPV.

WWE doesn't seem "hot" here. I know that we're like their fourth biggest market or something, but I can't see them doing 50,000 again. Unless they have Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar for the show.

I actually really hope that Bobby Lashley, James Storm, EC3 and Eddie Edwards all sign with WWE. Lashley, Storm and EC3 would all "fit" the main roster WWE. Lashley has grown enough to be "money." Storm would be a great supporting player aligned with Bobby Roode. EC3 could be a stock WWE "star" (whether or not he ever moves the needle). Edwards is a solid hand and might be the one best off going to ROH/New Japan or whatever.

In that case, it was thrown out due to the statute of limitations from when the deals were in place to when the lawsuit was filed having expired. Levy, on a Chris Jericho podcast, had apparently said that Vince McMahon had paid off a judge.

The agreement was made between lawyers that both lawsuits were to be dropped. However, in the settlement agreement, WWE retained the rights to refile the lawsuit against Levy if he were to ever sue WWE again on any contractual matters.

After recent depositions by WWE of Bagwell and Levy, their lawyers opened up settlement talks regarding dropping of the case.

Not sure if it’s the case now but there used to be a point where wwe.com =/= WWE (as in Vince didn’t have for final say) so it could very well be a top 5 of whoever made the video or signs off on .com content. It could be them “testing the waters” to see who gets the best reaction in the comments.

The bad news is the second hour drop was significant, resulting in the second lowest rated hour number two on Raw in history, only beating the episode that went against the Trump-Clinton debate in 2016. That means it was even below hour two on July 4th in the past ...

Gainesville Police released the arrest report for the incident, which happened in Gainesville, Florida at 10:30 p.m. The victim is listed as Vannarah Riggs (independent wrestler Su Yung), who Swann has been in a relationship with for approximately five years and has been married to for nine months.

The arrest report states that Swann and Riggs were involved in an argument after Riggs had wrestled at a show in Gainesville. Swann was critiquing Riggs' performance and began getting angry with her. Riggs got out of the vehicle they were in after getting scared that the argument was going to escalate. He chased her and yelled for her to get back in, then allegedly grabbed her by the arm and around the neck with his arm after Riggs said she didn't want to get back in, putting her in a headlock and dragging her back to the vehicle.

A witness to the situation said they saw Swann push Riggs back into the vehicle while she screamed for help. They also said Riggs was beating on the window and screaming for help as they drove away. Another witness said they saw the vehicle driving erratically, with Riggs jumping out of it while it was still moving and Swann getting out of it while it was moving to chase her. The vehicle wasn't put in park and rolled until it hit a telephone pole.

Riggs told police that she was afraid because Swann "has a temper sometimes," and that she was trying to get away from him because she was afraid the argument would escalate into physical violence. Riggs said she told him to stop the vehicle so she could get out before having to jump out while it was still slowly moving. She said Swann grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back in despite her not wanting to go with him.

Swann denied grabbing Riggs and putting her back in the vehicle, saying she got in on her own and he never physically touched her. He said he was trying to get home and her phone had the GPS on for directions.

The domestic battery charge is listed as a misdemeanor and the false imprisonment charge is a felony. Swann was taken into custody around midnight last night and was in custody as of this morning.

Under their zero tolerance domestic violence policy, WWE issued a statement saying that Swann has been suspended indefinitely.

A video of Jericho aired following the match. He congratulated Omega, asked if he's ready for Wrestle Kingdom at the Tokyo Dome and said we'll find out who the best in the world is then, and told Omega he's going to beat the hell out of him.

When the video stopped playing, Jericho appeared inside the ring and gave Omega the Codebreaker. Jericho continued to beat Omega down and hit him with the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. He laid out the referee and one of the young lions before continuing to attack Omega, who had been bloodied by this point. Omega briefly fought back until being hit with another Codebreaker.

Don Callis went into the ring to check on Omega as Jericho started to walk away, but Jericho came back and gave Callis a Codebreaker.

Tetsuya Naito won MVP for the second straight year, Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega from the January 4th Tokyo Dome show won best match, Io Shirai won the top women’s award, and Katsuyori Shibata was honored with the Fighting Spirit award. Suwama & Shuji Ishikawa won tag team of the year and Yuma Aoyagi from AJPW won rookie of the year.

Rolling Stone interviewed Kenny Omega about his match with Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12. When asked about using blood in the angle they did at the World Tag League finals, Omega said: “I've been lucky where I've asked for a little bit of trust from the company. When you put yourself in a situation like that, you either hit consecutive home runs or you're dead in the water, because there's a lot of money on the line, there's a reputation on the line. And a lot of times I really forced them to step out of their comfort zone. Between last year's G1 and now with Jericho, I have done a lot of things the company isn't necessarily comfortable with, but they're seeing positive growth from it. Drawing blood is a faux paus. They don't like it at all. Our parent company makes its money through anime and card games.”
