I enjoy anonymity. Its not something i think i can explain that would make sense. I like being able to get unfiltered conversations about wrestling from geniune fans and TPWW has always had a really rich tapestry of of fans from all walks of life.
The consumers are as much a part of the business as the workers and while i def have my own opinions ive always valued being able to come here and get an honest perspective from so many different people. Initially i wanted to kayfabe i worked at all but i cant have geniune human relationships if im not my authentic self...so this is the middle ground. I know thats probably super alien but it makes sense to me. |

While this may be true generally, my wife was a fan back in the day and still checks things out with me during WM season and Summerslam. She hated most everything else but loved the Styles v Joe feud at SS because it was "old school" as she put it, and it was more than just the simplistic "Grr! I don't like you!" and/or "Grr! I want your title!" that's so ridiculously the current product 98% of the time.

According to ShowBuzz Daily, viewership for the pre-show on WGN ended up being around 196k.

I'd assume so. Ended up being the 85th ranked show for the night and best viewed show for WGN going by ShowBuzz's chart.
http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/article...-9-1-2018.html More important is how many of those viewers ended up buying the event after watching a taste of it for free. Even something like TNA levels of 5k-15k gained would be a huge success for All In. |

I want to do a few official takeaways on All In, after stewing for a few days. It's a little all over the place because I am Vastardikai.
I bought the All In replay because I supported the idea of the show, not some of the talent. I am pretty much open in saying that I don't care for Omega or the Dumb Fucks. But I was won over by the idea of a DIY wrestling show that drew the amount of people it drew. And the idea of seeing Pentagon for the first time. I was on the fence the last three days and then decided Friday, "I have to watch this." It wasn't a bad decision. The last match should have been 4th and the 4th match should have been last I am not saying that because of my antipathy for the Jacksons or because of any love for Cody. This was the biggest Indy Show of All Time, and they gave it what was more or less a House Show Main Event. The main drawing point for the card, beyond the existence of the card itself, was Cody vs. Aldis for the 10 Pounds of Gold. Ironically, shortening the time made for a better 6 Man match. I am going to go into the timing issues a bit more in a little bit. What I want to mention is the fact that the shorter time made it the best match I had ever seen out of the Bucks. It had a wild pacing with all over the place action that reminded me of the good luchador matches from WCW. And this also made it the perfect 4th match on a card that ended up going last. In essence, it should have stayed at this length but came on the card sooner. Joey Janela is trash. I've been making this joke since Sunday, but it's true. As a promoter, Joey Janela is a genius. As a wrestler, Joey Janela is a damn good promoter. He was one of the guys whose match went over for time and there really wasn't any benefit for it. Did the match really benefit from the powerbomb off the stage or the Rite of Passage off a ladder through a table? Especially after he already did a Burning Hammer onto a ladder? Do the Burning Hammer spot, roll him into the ring, and go straight to the pin. Only do the Rite of Passage spot, throwing valets, officials, and various "security" around to drill the point home that Page is a sick bastard. Alternatively, maybe tease it and use that to set up the Cockathon as a way to save Janela from having his career ended at the hands of Page. And it doesn't help that I remember what Penelope did more than what Janela did, and that it looked like she hit harder. And this was more dissection than Janela's work deserved. The match with Pentagon was the first time I actually got the appeal of Kenny Omega. Seriously. Omega didn't do any of the dumb shit that pisses me off, it told a coherent story, and he made Pentagon look strong. It was his best match I have seen (didn't see the 2 out of 3 falls match with Okada), and I don't give a fractional fuck about Meltzer's stars. Pentagon was the most charismatic guy on the card. Everything about this guy screams star. The look is remarkable. He worked the crowd well. He is amazing in the ring. A smart business man can retire after a few months of selling Pentagon masks at shows. In other words, Vince will find a way to fuck it up. Okada and Scurrl actually needed the extra time. Unlike the other match that went over time, this match needed that extra time to make it a strong match. It was unprofessional, yes. But it is kind of ironic that a bunch of folks who are big on "Getting their Shit in" having to worry about the consequences of having to "Get all their Shit in." Basically, the average Indy Fan has the mental age of a 12 year old boy.Liking something bad because it's different? Yep. Cult like following and mindset to something? Yep. Think they know more than they actually do? Yep. Overly Amused by seeing depictions of a penis? Holy Fuck yep. |

Financial numbers from All In according to Meltzer:
Live Gate: $458,525 Merchandise: Every item sold out, no finite numbers from this FITE: Grossed more than $1 Million between Starrcast and ALL IN iPPV sales. Starrcast sold 11,000 tickets Pro Wrestling Tees did just under $500k of t-shirt sales Highspots had it's biggest merchandise day ever at the convention PPV Numbers: Not out yet and impossible to predict due to no prior reference point. Google Trends showed that this didn't have mainstream steam, but no wrestling show outside of WWE has shown that in recent memory. WGN Zero Hour: 196k Viewers. In line with station's top rated prime time shows, even on worst week of the night for TV and not in Prime time. Overall financial verdict: Grand Slam home run |

I guess I can say that I understand why certain people disliked the Ryan segment at ALL IN but I don't understand the EXTREME hatred of it. Personally I loved it, I thought it was hilarious and creative considering the story on BTE. People lashing out and verbally punching walls over it though, I just don't get. Just move the f on.

I didn't care for it, in part because it pops a bunch of Mark's who are mentally 12. I imagine there is a number of folks who want an alternative to WWE and don't want to see something that Russo wouldn't do because it looks too trashy.
And ultimately, it isn't going to attract new fans. |

I can flip how seriously I take wrestling like a switch, which is why I can watch a classic destroyer match, followed immediately by a joey Ryan comedy match and appreciate both for what they are.

I think it’s stupid and brings down the whole tone of the show. This was a historic moment for indie wrestling and I think they would have done well to keep the prestigious feel of the night and give it a bit of glamour and class.
Things like that are lowest common demoniator, lower the tone and ultimately, take away the prestige from the rest of the night. It’s ok not to mind it and it OK to find it funny, but people who hated it aren’t in the wrong either. I don’t want Joey Ryan’s blood, but I dislike what he does 100%, and it’s ok to feel that way |

Quite a few people if you have read back and forth online. Likes or Cornette get criticized for trashing stuff like this, but he is perfectly within his right to do it. I personally think it sucks and is about as done to death as the new day nowadays, on top of being ridiculous to begin with.

I mean I get not digging it but to act like it's "killing the business". It's a niche gimmick in a niche form of entertainment. In the words of Stone Cold Steve Austin on his podcast all the fucking time, "it was what it was".

I still really feel that people are willing to buy into something and “believe” it’s its intriguing and presented seriously. Take Cody’s moment on the show. After many years of irrelevancy and ridicule, people were still delighted for him to be the NWA Champ. It means something because it was presented that way.
What so many guys like Ryan do, is contribute to the decline of the art form. It might be fun, but it detracts from what’s special about wrestling imo. Makes it impossible to go “ALL IN” with the suspending of disbelief |

Like that'll stop him from being part the show. He accompanied Aldis to the ring at All In so I could see him getting involved in the rematch.

Apparently Jericho's surprise appearance at All In lead to the grand total of zero extra sales for his cruise so far.
