I think it'll be an NXT guy. Probably Neville or Kevin Owens or something. I think 2016 is the year they really try to push NXT as legit

Daniel Bryan will be the surprised 30th entry and will win the 2016 Rumble thus erasing the stink of the past two. Of course on RAW the next evening he will give up the title shot due to injury.

Probably Reigns again but the WWE being more careful and gradual with his road to Mania push.
If I has to guess, either against Cena or Sheamus for the WWE title. Cena to create the torch passing moment or Sheamus because he'd have cashed in by the Rumble. |

My guess is WWE goes with Reigns or Cena |

Dean Ambrose would be "cool" to solidify himself as "legit", but then Roman Reigns could embrace being a kind of "tweener" and "force his way into the WM match" somehow.

Would have been "cool" to have Kevin Owens had kept his momentum and steam up and be World Champion by Mania, and then Sami Zayn comes back and wins the Royal Rumble....
People would be mad confused, but they could get it over. |

Depends on who the champ is by that point. If it's Rollins, then Cena or Brock would currently make the most sense. I'd personally prefer a Reigns uber heel turn, joining the authority and Rollins going face. Have Ambrose win the rumble and take on Reigns, while Rollins wrestles Triple H in the midcard.
Or put the belt on Sting, have Hogan win via surprise entrant and give him his win back from Starcade. |

Just don't see it for Cesaro. At least not right now. Maybe if his current run keeps progressing. Really, he or Owens should've dethroned Cena. Cena winning the title provided literally no long term benefit.

Reigns or Rollins, but likely Reigns. I know some guys on here have mentioned some NXT guys such as Kevin Owens, etc., but I think the WWE will build Owens up a little more. Owens seems like a very good bet for the 2017 Royal Rumble. WWE aren't going to do anything with Cesaro from what I see. Just for the record - I'm not a Roman Reigns mark or anything like that. I'm not even really a huge fan of Reigns (don't hate him but don't love him either). I'm just trying to interpret what I think WWE Creative is thinking (and will do). If it was up to me, Lesnar would win (after having made Undertaker suck his dick in front of everyone). |

I like the idea like I posted to heyman yesterday, owens comes in at number 10 lasts til the end to build his character huge and be almost ready, ultimately losing the rumble to brock

I love the idea of Owens kicking massive butt at 2016 Royal Rumble as well (making the most eliminations, and ultimately giving head to the winner in the final 2-4). I don't think Lesnar will be the 2016 RR winner, but I'd definitely be happy if it went down like that. Owens and Lesnar being the last two guys in the ring, with Owens showing no fear whatsoever and getting in Lesnar's face and giving him the double middle finger a la Stone Cold style. |

However, with that said, I'd still love for one day a complete nobody to win it, just to really add to that mystique that "anyone can win". Remember how batshit crazy the fans were going when they thought Santino was gonna win it in 2011?

If I had to make a surprise pick, I'd go with Finn Balor. The Shield Triple Threat could happen, any Brock Lesnar match is going to be big enough, Taker will probably wrestle another match, Triple H and The Rock will be doing something, Sting will probably be there, etc. The deck is stacked and I think someone facing John Cena for the World Title is probably their "franchise" match at the moment. Finn Balor showing up and winning the whole thing would be a "Whoa! This guy is the real deal moment." His entrance at Mania would be huge, and the crowd will be rabid to see him dethrone 16-time World Champion, John Cena.
It's obvious that Balor is the guy they are grooming as the company-friendly face of the next era. He's not only been presented as a mega-star in the NXT realm, but he got the major story of The Beast in the East special. They have his story to the top ready to go. His slow exposure is happening right now. I don't see him debuting on the WWE's main roster as anything but a big deal. He's not the colored shirts kind of guy, but they'll find a way to market him. And it's not like Cena is going away forever anyway. Slightly safer pick? Roman Reigns. I can see him being slammed against Cena, but the more I think about it, the more I think the fans might pan that entire match. Even a Money in the Bank cash-in from Sheamus wouldn't save that, because he's another one of those guys that doesn't ignite the smart crowd. I think that if they put Reigns into the World Title match, then you almost have to put him against Seth Rollins. And if you want to include Dean Ambrose, then you probably have to have him win the Money in the Bank briefcase from Sheamus. |

Most likely WrestleMania main events (from where I sit):
* Cena vs. Balor * Cena vs. Reigns (not advised) * Cena vs. Taker * Lesnar vs. Balor * Rollins vs. Reigns * Rollins vs. Reigns vs. Ambrose If I got to pick, I'd go with either Cena vs. Balor or the Shield Triple Threat; but I don't think you need the World Title for the Triple Threat. Cena vs. Balor could use it more. |

Had this really fucked up idea if the WWE can't get Ronda Rousey for Mania. I was having a coffee thinking about what a gem Renee Young is for the WWE. Honestly, if RAW opened with Renee Young running down what you are going to see tonight, the show is already 50% less embarrassing. She's got a girl next door charm, and she's what's vogue when it comes to a female television personality.
Then I started thinking about the weirdest things the WWE could do with the Rumble. Like the weirdest thing you could book without sinking the company. Here's the most dangerous thing I could come up with: * Stephanie McMahon begins to get annoyed with Renee Young, who does her job as an interviewer and asks The Authority about some things they don't like going on at the moment. * An in-ring segment leads to Stephanie insulting Renee Young so badly that Renee eventually says "You know what, I might be an employee here, but I am sick of you talking down to me." Stephanie: Who the hell do you think you're talking to? * Renee goes to answer, and Stephanie smacks the shit out of her face. Stephanie relishes in the moment and Renee fucking TACKLES Stephanie McMahon. Referees pull Renee off Stephanie, and Triple H comes out and points to the back (implying Renee needs to go there and will be disciplined later). Renee -- fired up -- slaps Triple H in the fucking face! * Stephanie comes out the next week and says she's not going to fire Renee Young for the biggest mistake of her life. Oh no. She's got something better in mind for that bitch. The Royal Rumble is coming up, and in the Rumble's vast history, two women have competed in the Royal Rumble Match. Renee Young is going to be the third. And she'll be #1 out there. * Renee is worried about this -- not being a trained professional and all that -- but she says this is her dream job, so she'll do what she has to do. * At the Rumble, Young comes out wearing all-white, looking hot as hell. #2? Luke Harper. The commentators talk about how this has obviously been set-up. Harper is a man that obviously has no problem hitting a woman. He stalks Renee, who escapes the ring, and he goes to corner her outside it, when Dean Ambrose hits the ringside area, attacking Luke Harper. * The relationship between Ambrose and Young hasn't been mentioned on the air, as it hasn't been pertinent. But Ambrose is a warm-blooded male like anybody else -- and he has issues with The Authority. He makes perfect sense to play Renee's "white knight." Plus, they're bound to have chemistry together, right? * Renee stays at ringside, defiantly, although she doesn't interact with anyone. Eventually some ruthless heel, grabs her, and lariats the fuck out of her. Major heat. Renee is taken out on a stretcher. * The match goes on, and let's say the last two guys are Dolph Ziggler and Rusev. As these two men fight, Renee Young, holding her neck, walks back to the ring. This is where the announcers need to sell that she's coming back out due to defiance. Stephanie shoved her into this match, she wants to she how tough she is by sticking it out. She's not out to win it, she's just standing her ground as a human being. * Dolph asks Renee what she's doing in the ring. "Get out, I don't want to wrestle you! This is dangerous!" etc. Rusev grabs Ziggler, goes to toss him, but Dolph reverses and sends Rusev over and out. But the momentum carries him a little, and he's sort of hanging over the top, so Renee grabs his leg and gives him that last push out. * RENEE FUCKING YOUNG HAS FUCKING WON THE FUCKING 2016 FUCKING ROYAL FUCKING RUMBLE!!!!! * Stephanie would come to the ring screaming, like Vince did when Cena and Batista eliminated each other. "This isn't going down like this!' screeches Stephanie, who approaches ringside and gets dropkicked through the ropes by Young. Show goes off the air with her triumphantly walking to the back, and the announcers having no clue what is going to happen on RAW as a result of this. * Renee Young has no intention of wrestling for a title at WrestleMania. She forfeits her title shot and doesn't care what the company does with it. But she does want to fight Stephanie McMahon. You build to Stephanie McMahon vs. Renee Young, with the reveal that Young has been training with Dean Ambrose for a while, and maybe bring in Ronda Rousey as a kayfabe trainer for Renee Young too. Stephanie suddenly starts to shit herself. * You could also get Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose out of this. * The WWE could also turn one of their live events into a "Royal Rumble Redux," given the apparent non-finish of the previous one and put it exclusively on the WWE Network. * This idea could also lead to The Authority changing the Rumble concept to "the winner is likely to be in top position for a WrestleMania title shot, given the event that "anything can happen." This would allow the Rumble to get sort of a fresh life, given that it often feels quite predictable, and it can sour The Road to WrestleMania if the audience feels everything is too transparent and can see the end game. If Roman Reigns' was guaranteed to be the guy facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania this year, do you think his win would have pissed off people so much? |

I think they'll jam him in there. That's unless Vince/Kevin are on a different page to Triple H on him. But so far they seem to be treating him like he is a big deal. I mean, that Beast in the East show wasn't an NXT production, was it?

I feel like I'm an idiot for liking that idea as much as I do. But come on -- if Renee Young got to beat up Stephanie McMahon, don't tell me you wouldn't mark. Wouldn't need the Rumble to get there though.
