Could be him from his profile page and messages I think he was a black guy.

I wonder if this means that WWE will give AJ Styles what he wants with his reduced schedule in his contract renewal.

Personally , I wouldn’t mind another promotion doing well. I’ve cancelled my network subscription and try and keep up every now and then but mostly just watch NXT.

Here's a possibility: when are Woods' and Kingston's contracts up?

I’d be interested to see what the “Are they main eventers, I dunno, maybe” types from WWE might do if they had a viable American alternative. Your Cesaros, Big Es, Balors, Kevin Owens types.

Could be fun.

It's definitely not Kevin Owens going, he signed a new five-year deal with WWE last year. A shame really as I'd be all for Owens and Zayn crashing the AEW party.

The New Day would be kissing away a lot of money and merchandise sales to potentially burn a bridge with Vince. The talent I see going are guys that have a very clearly imposed ceiling. Dolph Ziggler, Finn Balor and Cesaro come to mind. Sasha Banks from the women. There could be greater artistic frustrations than we know about, which could factor in to your Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn types. I really do not see AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura risking it this cycle.

I see Gallows & Anderson going. From New Japan, I can see Kota Ibushi signing with them. He's been very reluctant to tie himself down to New Japan, and he seems close with The Elite guys. I don't really see a big exodus of any more talent, because with The Elite guys possibly leaving (although I'm sure they'd still like to work with New Japan), it creates more spots and room for upwards momentum. Talent there can always play a "wait and see" game to see if AEW gets television or whatever. But if Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes leave, Jay White and Zack Sabre, Jr. become the biggest gaijin there by default. White is already being pushed as #2 although ZSJ has had some big moments too.

From WWE, I mentioned Ziggler, Balor and Cesaro, but it just depends on when their contracts come up. Balor signed with WWE in 2014, so assuming it was a three-year deal, he probably re-upped in 2017, which means he might be at the start of a five-year cycle, which means he wouldn't be free until 2022, and WWE is not going to willingly let him go. But maybe he only re-signed for two or three, or maybe his original deal was for five or only two, which can change things. I'm obviously just speculating.

I think Cesaro re-signed in 2016. That's still very recent. It's possible that a three-year deal would expire in 2019, but who knows how long he signed for? He doesn't seem as important as the guys they try to chain down for five years, so maybe it was just three?

Another guy I didn't mention was Rusev. He seems to have a rocky relationship with management at times. They seem to think he's worth something, but he's certainly been "underused" as they say. At the end of last year, I was kind of predicting him to leave anyway, but it seems his attitude (obviously from an outside perspective) is "dude, fuck it," and he's just happy coasting and getting the occasional mid-card PPV title match. But it wouldn't surprise me if he leaves when his deal is up.

Two more names that spring into my head are Luke Harper and Kassius Ohno. Harper has been MIA since Erick Rowan got injured. They seem to know how good he is, but he's not a guy they've ever really commited to. Lots of stop-start with the guy. Even when he hits it out of the park (like that match with Orton at Elimination Chamber last year), it seems Vince doesn't really want to get behind the guy to the extent that fans seem to feel he's worth. He's getting up there in age, so if he wants to prove something artistically, splitting with WWE to be a monster in a promotion where he's going to be a bigger dude (he's about the same size as Orton in WWE, which does seem to hurt his perception as a monster, despite him being able to work like one) could be beneficial. He's been with WWE for almost seven years now and main roster for five of them. If he's been smart with his money, he may not need WWE anymore.

Ohno is interesting. He seems content with his player/coach role in NXT, but as far as talent goes, he's got a bit more to offer than that, despite him ballooning up. He's still got stamina and indy cache that is not really likely to be capitalized on beyond his role of putting over the latest signee. If he gets bored or whatever and gets a decent offer to do a more focused version of that role in AEW, possibly teaming with Cesaro or even being a part-time manager type for him, then he might consider taking it. He signed with WWE in very late 2016, so if it were a three-year deal then he his contract would be up just as they are getting television, but who knows if he's on a proper deal with them or not? I can't see them giving him AJ Styles money to be in the role he's in, or necessarily committing to him long-term given his history with them and being released once before.

Rawley seems "so WWE" to me. He seems like the sort of dude who will chip away knowing that his sporting background and connection to Gronk will keep him getting paid and keep getting him opportunities.

Gable is an interesting one. He's obviously a very talented dude. He's got an Olympic background which should be something WWE really promotes. He seems to have a great aptitude for things, but they just don't seem "all in" on the guy. It's like they're constantly testing the dude way beyond what they need to. But freak athletes like him always have a major drive, so if he keeps plucking away, I can see him making it. And it seems like they are doing something with him now. Whether that's a short run with the Raw Tag Titles or a feud with Bobby Roode, I imagine that there are plans to at least feature him on TV in a mid-card spot.

My gut tells me to lean towards neither of them jumping. I think it'll be more the indy guys with artistic desires that they just don't get to fulfill in WWE. But not the guys in major spots. Guys like Rollins, Ambrose, Joe, Styles, Owens, etc. are just guys I don't see giving up their WWE spots.

If for nothing else it might give guys a bit of “use me, or lose me” leverage.

You look back at all of the NXT “promotions” from the last few years and barely anyone is being used. Guys like Rawley, No Way Jose, Tyler Breeze, Dillinger, etc. have done nothing for months. Sanity just got cycled in to fill out a spot for the Survivor Series and we likely won’t see them again for a while.

These aren’t guys that are gonna main event a new promotion but they could be useful for something.

the golden rule, it doesnt matter who created it first, its who copyrighted it first. Vince tries to own everything. If he thinks its irrelevant like a couple of old boys making 30 bucks he wont care (demolition using the name and look on the indy scene) But as he has shown before, if something could make a bit of money, he will get the lawyers involved.

I mean he already has with the too sweet stuff. Without that, I don’t think he could do anything about it. They don’t have a copyright on the colors black and white.

Doesn’t really matter anyhow, as Bullet Club won’t be a part of it. Fairly certain NJPW owns Bullet Club, and regardless The Elite recently shed the name on a recent episode of BTE. Bullet Club is now exclusively the BCOG’s.

Yep. Kenny, Cody, Marty, Hangman, and The Bucks all officially left Bullet Club a few weeks ago. They are a standalone group, and presumably still will be if they continue to hang around New Japan after AEW opens.

It would be cool if AEW actually worked a lot with other promotions, and had their champ occasionally defend the belt against outside talent.

I don’t know, partner. Seems like they should keep AEW as their top priority and not rely on appearing elsewhere until they solidify their brand. Fuckin GFW appears around the globe or so they say and make zero splash on any radar worth a damn, mister.

Yeah mister, I meant down the road. They have to make their belt mean something first. It would just be cool to see a championship that is defended against all comers, like old school NJPW.
