Lol damn.
I get the point of his argument, but all the added shock value that is always part of Cornette's rants hurts the credibility of the argument. I would have to think Vince is gonna give that baby a contract as soon as it's born, so she isn't losing that much money. |

Cornette is a troll and the more attention people give him the more outlandish shit he’s gonna say.

lolol wtf
Not gonna lie though, my first reactions when I heard it were "Vince is gonna be PISSED at her and Seth" and "Why would she choose to do this when she's at the top of the company". |

Cornette eat, sleeps, breaths, shits, pisses and ejaculated rasslin. It's his entire life. I'm not surprised he's unable to fathom having a child when at your peak.

I also don't think getting pregnant was intentional.

I’ve never seen someone so often taken out of context as Cornette. If you call what he said “worked up,” you clearly don’t listen to Cornette. It was half riffing on how shit babies are and half “you’re in a cherry spot and you actually choose to walk away right now? Fucking, alright.” There was absolutely no bitterness in it.
Obviously there can be many issues compounding Becky. Maybe she had a condition that made having a kid unlikely? Maybe she genuinely wants out of WWE for a period of time for some reason? Corny brushed over those. They aren’t as funny as telling Seth to wrap it. But she’s also in a bizarre business. If you’re an athlete or on-screen/touring performer, being pregnant is something that you need to think about. There wasn’t legitimate hatred at Becky for choosing to go and have a baby. |

She’s 33, fertility starts to drop off a cliff from the mid-30s so I can see why she’s going for it. She could come back in 2 years still at an age where she can go. All of the aesthetic issues Jim points at (jokingly or otherwise) are minimised by Becky’s attire so it’s not like she comes back looking wildly different. She’s also at a point where she has a lot of cache; she’s leaving at almost the peak of her powers. Do it in 2 years and she likely wouldn’t be as valuable due to booking/creative/momentum.

I was half-expecting Cornette to praise her for finding a way to take time off and not be overexposed. There are elements that are actually very good for Becky (you know, outside of personal fulfilment).

She's extremely lucky to have had her career last as long as it has, especially in a prominent role, since more often than not female wrestlers usually retired in their mid-to-late 20s. Meltzer had a pretty good point in this week's Newsletter of how you can make a strong case of her being WWE's greatest ever female star due to her reaching legit super stardom and the money she was making for the company. Especially for someone who wasn't a hand-picked star nor seen as potential mega star material by Vince and co until it actually happened. |

I’ve actually listened to some of Cornette’s stuff in the last few weeks and he has some great takes on certain things. He was asked who he would want to manage if he made a return to wrestling in an onscreen capacity and he gave this great little promo/outline for Jacob Fatu, and he dismantled a match from AEW (Darby Allin vs someone I think) where they went straight in at top gear, his insights made a lot of sense. He loses me when he puts on the gimmick. He can’t give a rational critique of certain people (Omega comes to mind) and goes off on an incredible rant that pops some people but loses me.

It was Allin vs Sammy Guevara where they almost immediately went to a ladder break spot.

Are we sure it's not Seth that is pregnant? After all Seth is with someone that calls themselves "The Man". Becky's promo voice is irritating so i shudder to think what she sounds like when getting pumped.
Probably along those lines. |

Omega is a fucking amazing in ring performer. Yes he doesn't care about psychology and his facials are irritating. Thing is, Cornette doesn't say he's Ann amazing in ring performer. He just shits on him. He's had listeners send questions about his inability to be objective when looking at Omega. Because he isn't. And that's fine.

He's an amazing in ring performer. Is he a great storyteller? No, because his in ring psychology sucks. But as far as getting in the ring and putting on Ann amazing match, he's ace. Ava he's been ace for a long time. It may not be compelling from an emotional standpoint. But it sure as shit is an amazing performance.

Cornette would agree with you that Omega can do spectacular shit. Where he would disagree with you is how you define that with terminology. |

I mean, Jake Roberts was a pretty bad in ring performer from the stuff I've seen. But he was an amazing storyteller. Being able to athletically put on a good wrestling match and tell a story are not one in the same.
Ricochet v Ospreay is a prime example of a match with zero storytelling. |

Jake Roberts was a good wrestler, he got a hell of a lot out of a very simple approach. His work reminds me of a surgeon, just methodically dismantling people until he hit that DDT.
Jake the man is pure scum but he was a pretty good wrestler and a great performer overall. |

Jake is what every boring methodical heel these days is trying to be. Baron Corbin might as well have snake skin boots. But it only works if you have Jake’s demeanor.

Yes, Ricochet vs. Ospreay is an example of a match with zero storytelling. That's why it fucking sucked and I turned it off a few minutes in. It's why a guy like Cornette desribed it as "a brilliant display of gymnastics, but it wasn't a wrestling match." Synchronized swimming without the water. I can't remember the exact verbatim, so I paraphrase, but you keep using your definitions to define other people's instead of re-evaluating your own. You separating "storytelling" from "in-ring" is a personal exercise that not everyone is going to agree with. |

I think Bray is a very good and well rounded worker. Jake was great making his matches compelling and build up to that ddt. His short clothesline sucked. It looked bad. Because athletically Jake didn't seem to gifted. But you ignore it because psychologically he's on an entirely different level and can tell a story without having to do much. Imo.

Like, I guess that's fine. That's your business and what you enjoy. But I just don't see the logic in accusing someone of Cornette for not following your template, even though he says the exact same things but just doesn't say it the way you'd like him to, haha.

I will say this about Cornette; if he could ever just not give a shit about storylines or the type of wrestling being promoted, and was strictly just an agent in charge of laying out matches, he'd be a brilliant add to the company.
