I think he'll be fine tbh.
From what I have seen him in (no, I have never seen Twilight) he seems like a good actor. |

i mean i'm not saying that i think he'll be "the worst batman ever" or anything. history has taught me to know better than to make sweeping judgments on castings before you see them in the role, no matter what you think of the actor
but my reflexive reaction is def "...him?" |

Well....we shall see. I wasn't pumped for Affleck and ended up feeling he was easily the best part of BvS so.....here's hoping.

Maybe they just hired him to show him the disappearing pencil trick.

I find it hilariously tragic that they're still actually trying to go through with this movie.

Matt Reeves did a great job directing and/or writing Cloverfield, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes & War Of The Planet Of The Apes so I have lots of faith in this.

Love the 2nd and 3rd Apes movies. He also did Let Me In, which was a remake but a damn good one. I think he's going to do great. Hopefully they start filming soon.

They neutered a masterpiece when they remade "Let The Right One In" as a teeny bopper flick and had the balls to alter the double meaning of the title.
Unforgivable. I didn't mind it so much at first and then I rewatched "Let The Right One In" which is as polished a gothic romance as there will ever be in this century. I'm still mad about it. |

Whoever plays Batman should just get voiced over by Kevin Conway.

Rumored villains are Penguin and Catwoman.... and maybe like 6 or 7 others.

Apparently it's going to focus more on the investigative part of the Batman M.O
So that sounds cool. I want to see gadgets and sleuthing punctuated by brief and effective vigilantism. Make it more Man From Uncle than Winter Soldier though, a bit of a Mission Impossible style would be nice. Take it back to the 60's and 70's. |

I like that idea. Takes him in a different direction than we've seen.

Robert Pattinson?
Damn. Last I saw him was in Lost City of Z. And he's done some other low level indie flicks since then it seems. How'd he pop on DC's radar for the role? |

By being a fine actor with the added bonus of absolutely huge name value and marketability off the back of his participation in the biggest franchise aimed at fluttery eyed young girls ever.

Pattinson has been in 8 films that are 60% or better on rotten tomatoes since the last twilight film as opposed to only one rotten film. Not bad.

He had done all of the right things to progress from teen heartthrob to serious actor. I respect the work ethic.

As do I. Smart really. Used two large franchises as a platform to getting better work. And now he's Batman.

I hope I'm wrong and I usually like to keep an open mind about things, but I don't think that this is going to be very successful. Following in the footsteps of the Dark Knight trilogies is going to be an extremely tall order, and I just can't see Pattinson being able to take the torch from Christian Bale.

Pattinson is a good actor no doubt, but I can't see him being able to duplicate Christian Bale's success. If it was up to me, the entire Batman franchise would be put to rest for the next 20-25 years. The Dark Knight trilogies was so epic, that you can't just make a new Batman a few short years later. |

Bale's Batman was great because of team behind it, not just because of Bale. Reeves is an accomplished director and seems to have a very firm idea of what he wants to do with the character. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see where he goes with it.

Did Batman ever have a werewolf villain?
If so, they should go with that. |

hell yeah, i would show the hell up for freeze (esp tragic/serious freeze) and/or man-bat. they both have the potential to be awesome.
tbh though other than freeze - or maybe a well-done poison ivy - i'd prefer it if they went for a villain we haven't seen already, especially one, in catwoman's case, we've already seen twice in two film series professor pyg would be pretty cool if they're wanting to highlight batman's 'detective' side, though he might not yet be established enough outside of the comics new 52-era dollmaker would work for similar reasons as pyg, though he appeared in both arrow and gotham black mask would've been good too, if he wasn't tied up in birds of prey (which, side note, i really hope does not suck) penguin would be ok but honestly after five seasons of gotham i don't feel like the character needs it; same for riddler. cobblepot and nygma were the breakout villains of that show and imo they feel pretty well represented on-screen as a result, even if neither has been in a film for 20+ years other villains i would be down for: - clayface - court of owls - hugo strange (they might avoid this purely for the 'dr strange' connection though) - lady shiva |
