* Love JR calling shots in the booth.
* Young Bucks coming out like stars. * Great introduction for this match. Love the touch of Rick Knox saying something. * God, The Young Bucks calling out that shit during the match. I forgot about that shit. * Not sure I buy the ring rust story they're telling, but like matches where the Bucks sell an injury, I appreciate the effort. * Great to hear a crowd that gets caught up in the moments, as opposed to waiting for them to wake up. * JR really hitting the button of tag team wrestling being significant in AEW. * Excalibur really thriving in these main events. He reminds me of Mauro Ranallo. * Fuck me, can Rey Fenix fucking fly. * Fun match. Finish came out of nowhere though, because everything and anything gets kicked out, then you just get the end. They built emotion during that match though. * I kind of think they shouldn't show recaps of those sorts of matches. The highlights are the story, so it kind of reduces the emotional impact to see the reel. |

Price scared me away overall. So, I ended up not buying.
Buzzed through the results on the main page and the last couple pages of posts here, sounds like I missed a hell of a show. Droford's post above has an interesting point. Once they get the final numbers in from all the streaming and PPV buys, will the next show be the same price? Or will they change up the pricing again? |

It's been on par with a Takeover with some goofy shit underneath, but it's good to see the more substantial stuff be given primary focus.

It was the best thing on the show up until that point. It's not the same as the shit TNA or WCW used to do. It was a symbol to set themselves apart and move them into main event territory.

It's too bad they can't ride this momentum into their t.v deal.

Feel like they could get away with spreading out their main event-level stuff a lot more. I can understand why they swung for the fence with Double or Nothing, but Fight for the Fallen doesn't need to have too many exhausting matches.

That All Out card is looking pretty heavyweight. And letting those things stew for 14 weeks is a good way to get people hyped.

Can’t wait for WWE to counter this with a barnburner Lashley/Corbin tag match on Raw

Personally feel that's a big part of what makes wwe's longer PPV events drag so much. The pacing of the card is all over the place. I prefer the NJPW style of building up to the longer main event matches.

Apparently Dustin went into last night assuming it was his retirement match and he planned on leaving his boots in the ring after. Cody's comments after the match and invitation to face the Bucks were a surprise to him.

Vince better realize what's going on. He is in bad shape. AEW did in one night what WWE has failed to do in the past 2-3 years: create meaningful storylines. Doesn't matter in my eyes that they are a fresh company or not. Everything that happened last night had a purpose.
While I wanted them to stay away from anything WWE, Cody destroying the throne served it's purpose. It's an iconic moment that will be a foundation for this company for years to come. While I thoroughly enjoyed the first few matches, the three "main-event matches" plus the title showing were the things that really sold me on this company. I'm digging MJF. Guy looks and acts like the Miz but he might be better than the Miz. His arrogance is just outstanding. While it was painful to watch Bret Hart get in and out of the ring, that was a major name to show that first world title for AEW. Major props to them for getting him. Dustin versus Cody was just AMAZING. I loved how Brandi got involved. Earl Hebner was the right guy to referee that. While I was legit wondering if Dustin was going to pass out from blood loss, there were so many moments in that match. When he turned the figure four into pain for Cody, it reminded me of Austin/Bret when Austin was in the sharpshooter and blood was streaming down his face. There's some poetic justice in that though. Austin was in pain but he was in the move. Dustin had reversed the submission hold so while he was fighting through the pain with blood dripping out of him, he actually was using the move to his advantage. Loved the ending how Dustin and Cody will team up for Fight for the Fallen. The part that literally stuns me about this was how Vince and Hunter did not think this match would sell. They did ONE PROMO about it and had this match. Blood added to the overall standing of the match, but man did those two put on one hell of a show. Bucks versus Lucha I've watched tag team wrestling in NXT and walked away feeling impressed. Back when the Bucks, Cody, and Omega turned down WWE, I thought they were fools. I retract that statement 1000%. While Cody and Omega looked good tonight, the Bucks looked like the best tag team on the planet. I have no doubt when it's all said and done, they will be the greatest tag team of all time. I loved the story telling of this match. The Bucks missing spots added so much to the match. The crispness of the Lucha Bros. The near falls. The moves to the outside. The ONLY thing that concerns me is that this is the STANDARD for what they want in this company. Jericho versus Omega. Great storytelling. While Jericho is not in the best shape of his life, that guy told one hell of a story last night. His finishing the match with the Judas elbow was so sudden that it actually had me pop for it. Jericho cutting the promo at the end made me think that Page was coming back out which was going to make me cringe because it would be so WWE... But Moxley...the way they had him come in, hit dirty deeds against everyone, and close the show standing tall...they instantly erased everything WWE had done with him in the past year. And if they just let him be an absolute psycho like we know he can be, he will be one of the faces of AEW and his run with the Shield won't mean shit when it's all said and done. I could not be more excited for their next two events. A friend and I will be online trying to get tickets for All In 2 since we live in Detroit and we could go over to Chicago very easily. The product won't grow stale because you know there will be angles shot for youtube and such. It's hard to say and believe it, but this show made me love wrestling again last night. WWE has become so stale. |

I'm so happy that everyone loved the show. I'm still buzzing from it. I'm just happy. It reminded me of the best of everything, the best of WCW, Lucha Underground, New Japan, ROH... just the best of everything all put on one show.

From the little that I saw it felt above TNA but not on WWE standards. They need to stop with the WWE references- it reeks of insecurity.

I didn't feel any TNA from AEW... The references at the beginning made me laugh, the throne breaking works only if you watched Game of Thrones.

Sit through the entire PPV and if you feel the same way, then it is what it is. But making a comment that you watched a little and it's above TNA and below WWE is so incredibly short-sighted. |

I can say this... The Casino Battle Royal came off a little indieriffic. It wasn't a revolution for the match. There were some spots where the camera didn't know who to focus on because Joey Janella can't work and doesn't understand how to play to a camera and that he's not the only guy in the match. I kind of enjoy Joey especially in GCW or one of his shows but he isn't very good lets be honest. Also he looked like shit. I couldn't compare him to Adam Page, Page is far beyond Janella.
I have seen 3 Battle Royals live this year and at least double that from other promotions... I'm just done with them. Please no more Battle Royals for a long time. Also, Alex Marvez is just okay, but it is early for that team so they could get better. Excalibur and JR were a revolution. I wish they could just cut out Alex. But to be honest, he had his moments where I saw his value. For instance, he knows what the fuck he's talking about and that is super important. He just needs to control his nerves. |

I will say, and maybe I'm in the minority here, but I didn't care much for the commentary team. JR doesn't have the same fire or stamina he used to. And Excalibur seems good at explaining the moves, but doesn't seem good at story telling. I dunno, they were whatever to me.
But fuck me that show was still amazing. |

Unfortunately i think it's the age we now live in. Thumbs up or down based on reviews and 30 second clips that doesn't give you any feeling which is very very important. Otherwise it's just flippyshit

I am delighted for them and for wrestling because WWE is terrible and Vince is sabotaging his own shows by being Vince. Wrestling needs this. But the very fact they were having this show was a victory over them. Guys expressing themselves and the quality of the build of Dustin/Cody was already a big enough jab at WWE. There was no need to be so cheesy and on the nose with the throne. They got in so many statements last night from what I have seen without needing to be so direct. The show spoke for itself and was a massive criticism of WWE in itself. No need to be petty and reactionary with the throne bit |

Genuinely makes me so sad watching Dustin at his age doing what he did last night. So many guys have had so many years wasted in the WWE grind.
Goldust character was so good, imagine what he could have been doing for the last 10 years with stories and direction as he got older. A great character and performer could have told some amazing stories and, like so many others, a massive portion of his career has been wasted doing nothing important every week. |

Obviously didn't get to watch but it seems like I too missed a really good show. Hopefully the price point comes down a bit. I'll spend 30 on the occasional PPV but not more than that and I don't care if it's a PPV of God vs Satan for control of mankind.
That being said, I have watched a bit of it now via internet videos (Prob like a third of the total show) and I was bugged by a couple things: I didn't like the throne spot either. It's too early to be taking shots. They should have risen above that and just ran their show. If WWE starts taking more liberal shots at them, then they can start responding. I just didn't like the feel of it being done this early on in the promotion. If they end up failing for whatever reason it will be an ironic moment to look back at. And sticking with my argument from a couple days ago....I don't like Jericho going over....and having that be the place where Moxley debuted made it even worse for me. You have a WWE legend and first undisputed champion going over "The Guy" in your company in a match being announced by WWE's most prolific announcer and then you have a post match beat down from a former WWE champion.....all while trying to present yourself as an alternative to WWE. I. Don't. Get. It. Other than those things though I was impressed and entertained by what I did watch. Gonna watch more of it as I find it over the next couple days. So far I am very optimistic about AEW's chances at making it and becoming a viable competitor to WWE. That's still a couple years off at least in the states but I think they can quickly make inroads and challenge WWE in the foreign market much much quicker than that, especially with that British TV deal. |
