My CD drive takes too long to read CD's.
Is there any way to fix this?
SOmetimes I will go into Gamespy and click on a room and it will sometimes take around a minute before the CD starts spinning. Then the room sometimes ends up full because of it. |

Seriously, I know it's the joke answer, but reformatting probably wouldn't hurt.

First things first.
I'd look at the CD's themselves, are they scratched or damaged? The CD player won't like that. I'd then do a backup then a reformat. If that doesnt work I'd replace the CD Drive, they wear out after a while, and I had the same problem so I replaced it. You can pick em up for like $20 these days. No Point in pissing around. |

It's been slow even after I've reformatted.
I dont get rid of it because it's also my burner but another CD drive to read CD's and another to burn sounds like a good idea. So good that I cant believe I didnt think of it. |

Then clear up some disk space by deleting excess crap. Run Scandisk and then defrag. Hope this helps. |
