Yeah that's pretty much what I've noticed. (Personally I hope it actually kicks off, as it's got shit loads of potential, and another big MMA promotion is definetly not a bad thing)

Yeah but the finances are in the shits. And the TV rating was down 3 ratings points and everyone panicked about it.

Unfortunately I think it is being perceived as Pride Light instead of Pride V2 or (even better) a new promotion.

EVERYONE in the MMA game knew Tito's back was bad and he'd need surgery. UFC also had the chance to pay for it when he was under contract and then refused.
Let's not make Tito out to be the bad guy here. He worked through his deal like you should and now is allowed to talk to whoever he wants about a new deal. Nothing wrong with that. These same people who bury Tito are alll still licking Randy Couture's balls and what he did was ten times worse. |

tbh Krispy I'd heard about that (him needing surgery) ages ago...Which is why I didn't really expect him to sign with anyone...

Petruzelli got death threats..
PRO MMA: How did you celebrate your big win? Did you go out? Seth: Yeah I went out that night, I was a little scared to go out, but I reluctantly went out because everyone wanted me to go out. I had a couple of death threats and people saying some stuff, so I was kind of scared to go out a little bit but I went low key so it pretty fun then I had an after party here which was really fun. I got a little too drunk. I didn’t even have that much to drink but after cutting weight and not having much food I was drunk after just a couple of drinks. PRO MMA: You said you had some death threats, but was it the locals because I know you are from Florida too? Seth: Yeah, I’m from Florida but not from south Florida. It was mainly the Kimbo fans down there that was doing it. PRO MMA: Having to worry about some gangsters doing some shady stuff to you when you’re trying to celebrate your win, man that’s no fun. Seth: Yeah it kind of sucks and kind of takes the fun out of it. The first thing I said to the athletic commissioner when he came in the ring and told me to calm down was, “You gotta get me outta here, you gotta get me outta here. I’m scared.” I was just waiting for something to get thrown in the ring. http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2008/10/...ive-interview/ Sam Caplan: Can you talk about the aftermath? That was a pretty crazy scene around the cage with Kimbo’s crew. At any point were you concerned for your safety? Seth Petruzelli: Oh yeah, 100 percent. Afterwards, and I didn’t know it at the time, buy my wife had got threatened a few times. My corner had got threatened a few times. I had stuff thrown at me from the crowd. As soon as I had got done circling and screaming, the athletic commission told me I had to calm down because the crowd was getting crazy. So I calmed down and said listen, “You’ve got to get me out of here.” And I kind of started to get worried about my well-being at that point (laughs). Sam Caplan: Did the threats against your wife and your corner come from Kimbo’s fans or his corner? Seth Petruzelli: It was some of his posse that was around the cage. Not all of them were like that but there were a few that were talking some crap that I wasn’t very happy about. Sam Caplan: (Laughs) Do you have any idea what they possibly could have been mad at you about aside from doing your job? Seth Petruzelli: I have no idea. I heard this one kid, he kept saying “You cheated! You cheated! You cheated!” (Laughs) And I’m like, how the hell did I cheat!? I mean, what are you talking about!? |

There are talks of Gabe Gonzaga wanting to fight Lesnar in a Battle of the Beasts.. As of right now it's gonna be:
Mir vs Nog for the interim belt Lesnar vs Couture for the number one contender spot, winner getting to fight the winner or Mir/Nog for the undisputed belt So would Gabe get Lesnar either way or do you think he deserves a shot at the title (if Lesnar beats Randy and then Nog/Mir)?? |

And Randy signed a contract, then decided he wanted more money and acted like a bit of a bitch about it. Thats what contract NEGOTIATIONS are all about. He played the game wrong then cried at losing. Top bloke. I'd never count the guy out, but I for the first time really hope he gets his arse handed to him, even if it is against Brock, who I thought was a classless asshole towards the end and just after the fight against Heath. |

So, are they not gonna bill the Mir/Nog fight as a championship match?? Are both this fight (Lesnar/Couture) and Mir/Nog gonna be five rounders?? |

Nog V Mir is for the INTERIM UFC Heavyweight Championship (So yeah it will still go 5 rounds). Kinda like what Couture V Liddell was back in the day when Tito was champ but not fighting.

So both will be "championship" matches with the winner of each going to fight each other for the "undisputed" title, correct??

Just picked this up off tfn...
Those waiting for UFC President Dana White’s reaction to recent accusations that ProElite and EliteXC officials offered Seth Petruzelli a bonus not to take Kimbo Slice down to the ground during the main event of this past weekend’s edition of Saturday Night Fights will be pleased to know he has broken his silence. In an interview published in the Oct. 8 edition of the Boston Herald, White did not hold back in regard to his feelings about the latest controversy involving EliteXC. “It disgusts me,” White told the Herald. “I’ve been busting my (expletive) for 10 years flying all over the planet to show everybody what a great sport this is and what amazing people are involved in it. Then CBS throws this guy who fights at people’s barbecues on the main event because they’re trying to compete with us, and he gets knocked out in (14) seconds by a guy who didn’t win ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and couldn’t fight in the UFC. Then the guy turns around the next day and says, ‘The promoters actually paid me to not go to the ground with this guy. They paid me to stand up,’ which I’m pretty sure is illegal.” White didn’t stop there, as he expressed scorn for a promotion that has built itself around a former YouTube street fighting sensation. “(Slice is) a joke,” the Herald quotes White as saying. “It was bound to happen. These guys have lost $60 million trying to get this thing off the ground. They’re building their promotion around a guy who can’t fight. It’s kind of (expletive) stupid, isn’t it? You’re in the fight business and you’re building your business around a guy who can’t fight.” Usual outspoken, but fully justified Dana IMO. I think it also reinforces the promotion cometition argument. fact is, UFC have spent a decade laying the groundwork in making this sport globally mainstream, and everyone else is just trying to cash in on UFC's labour, and he is right to feel insulted that companies like EXC come and promote shows with fighters who just aren't good enough to make the grade in UFC. I don't think there is anyway of clarifying if they really have lost as much (or maybe as little) as 60m, but if Kimbo clears half a million a time, and that show is the demonstration of their progression, they are truely fucking up. its like 1st and 2nd division... |

Elite XC has been bad since the beginning.. Had they spent that money getting real fighters like Fedor and Arlovski, they could have actually competed with UFC.. Instead they blew their whole wad on women's fights and Kimbo.. Kimbo getting KO'd by Seth was the absolute worst possible scenario for them.. I mean, if Shamrock, Thompson, Tank Abbott, and even Mercer had caught him, they could've chalked it up to lack of pro fight experience, but to a cross dressing UFC reject, horrible..

I heard that before the card on Saturday night, that Frank wanted to fight Kimbo after finding out Ken couldn't, with like 2 hours notice..
It's funny cause if they had made it Kimbo/Frank, then even if he had lost, it would have been to a legend.. They obv thought Kimbo couldn't hang with Frank.. That being said, Frank would destroy Ken.. |

Seriously, do you read this thread?
I mentioned the Frank Shamrock thing on Saturday leading up to the show and the heavyweight title situation was discussed ages ago. |

This thread might have been where I heard it..
I remember talking to you about the title situation but I didn't realize they were still selling Coutture as the Champ.. I thought that the fight between him and Lesnar was gonna be just a three round number one contender type match until I saw that poster.. |

Frank hadn't had a medical with the Ath Commission in a really long time, so it just wasn't possible.
Has the world's least dangerous man made a statement or given an interview about dropping out yet? I've not seen anything. |

I haven't even seen a pic of the supposed cut..
In hind sight, they should have let Arlovski fight Kimbo.. It was kinda win/win cause if Arlovski won, he would be "back" to his old form and Kimbo would've lost to a former UFC HW Champ.. While if Arlovski lost, he got beaten by the "phenom" Kimbo.. Let Petruzelli fight Big Country.. |
