Ipod Battery

Any of you guys ever change your ipod battery before? I have a 30GB 5th Gen. video ipod that dies like 20 minutes after a full charge just playing music. I found one website that looks pretty reliable:
http://www.ipodjuice.com/video-ipod-...GB-550-mAh.htm

I can either just buy the battery and the installing kit for $40 and do it myself, or pay them an extra $20 to install it for me. They have videos and detailed diagrams on how to do it. I was just wondering if anyone had experience doing this before, any input would be appreciated.

It is very easy. I've done both a 3rd gen and a 5th gen and both are very easy to replace the battery, although each has a different battery.

Just make sure you open the case carefully because you don't want to damage the 2 connections to the mainboard or damage the wires. It'll take a slight tug to be able to pull the battery connection out, so don't freak out if it doesn't release right away.

BTW, I suggest buying the battery off eBay; I got mine for the 5th gen for ~$10. But if you want peace of mind, go ahead and by it from that store.

With that website, they offer a *special tool* to help open the case. If I buy the battery off eBay instead, what should I use to open it, just a flat screwdriver or something?

Thx for your help!

You can buy the battery off ebay with an opening tool, but that tool is a flimsy plastic. It will do the job, but you'll have to be careful not to break the tip.

You can use anything that's REALLY flat though. For example, I used a scalpel to slip in between the metal case and plastic face and pry apart the connections, although it did slightly chip the plastic (but I couldn't care less about things like that).

I ended up finding on on eBay here in Ontario and ordered it tonight, so it should only take a few days to reach me.

Awesome, thanks again!
