Grainy computer monitor
Here is the situation. I have an old laptop that is now hooked up to an external monitor because the screen on the laptop died. I don't know why the screen died, but it just flickered and went out one day. But now when I hook that same laptop up to the monitor the picture is grainy and colors don't look right. I downloaded a new driver but that did not do anything. I'm out of things to do.

I've done some looking into the situation. The display on the monitor says that it is analog and the display for the non-functioning laptop says it is digital. Is this part of my problem? If so, how do I get my monitor to display digital?

Still grainy with TWO laptops now. Maybe it is the monitor itself or the cord? I don't know. It was working fine like last week.

Have you tested it on a "friend's" monitor to see if that is the case?

I just unplugged the VGA cable and plugged it back in and straightened the kinks out. Now it is working pretty much perfectly, though I can still see bits at the top where it is slightly grainy.
