Are people upset about the match? Or the fact that Shawn may actually not want to wrestle?

Believe me, if he's really retiring, it's of his own will. WWE is not forcing him out.

Do not see anything wrong with that match, especially the ending. Michaels went out strong. The ONLY thing I'll say is that, MAYBE, the match should have had a different finish because it was the same as last year.

But a JUMPING Tombstone? Come on, that's fucking awesome.

HBK was made to look like he is just plain not as good as Taker. Two years in a row. He didn't come NEARLY as close as he did last year. He just looked like a man who didn't even care as much as he did last year despite the storyline revolving around his obsession being so high now. Ridiculous. What awful booking.

Alright, all these are IMO.

MOTN goes to Taker/HBK...that was obvious. Next in line I think would be Sheamus Triple H. I got more out of that match than any, and actually thought Sheamus was gonna win.

Why in the hell did they add that stupid "I bought the Hart's" thing. WTF why couldn't they just come down and beat his Vince's without the stupid mini storyline.

I think ShowMiz/Truth & Wisdom(I like the name) should've ran alot longer, and the Divas could've gotten off my PPV. Swagger came out of left field, nuff said.

Otherwise I enjoyed the show, and to be honest I did mark out like a kid during the Taker/HBK match.

Did anyone catch what HBM said about Flair coming back from retirement the other day? (I believe I saw it on the front page)... He's really not coming back. He said he doesn't hate flair for not staying out of the ring after their match, and that he understands, but he's got more respect for his own legacy than that or something to that effect. When I read it I knew it was the end of the line for the Heartbreak Kid. Kinda sucks though, as he's one of the best there is.

Loved Undertaker vs HBK II, Edge vs Jericho, and the ending to MiTB by using the briefcase to send Christian flying out of the ring.

Didn't like how the whole Bret vs Vince match dragged on but considering the health of Bret and the idea of using the Harts for a double-cross, it was decent but well short of the hype. Ended up being a match that sounds better on paper than it really became.

Quite a few screw ups tonight with the pyro. Rey Mysterio from what i can gather had to climb out of the little launching hatch as the pyro went off for it but it never sprung him into the air, the camera stayed away from that area for a bit then he was suddenly just there. Be interesting to see if anyone there caught that and will up it to youtube.

End match stole the show despite a few screwups, the "countered" last ride really looked poorly done and it looked more like Taker slipped than had Michaels grab his hair and slam him into the mat.

Overall pretty average for MAnia =/

what are you talking about

After he moonsaulted on to taker and gave him SCM, he clearly looked like he "had the win"

Michaels kicked out of multiple last rides, chokeslams, tombstones, became the first person to counter the Hells Gate

My overall thoughts:

Tag match - Solid match, should have been a bit longer, wasn't crazy about the finish.

Orton vs Legacy - What I expected. They didn't really have much to work with with the way they killed the angle months ago.

MITB - Liked it as usual. Couple a awesome spots. Did not expect Swagger to win.

Triple H vs Sheamus - Thought the match was very good. I think Sheamus should have kicked out of a Pedigree, but whatever. The finish was fine because it was kind of out of no where and doesn't bury Sheamus.

Punk vs Rey - Bit too short, enjoyed Punk's promo and a lot of the stuff he did in the ring. Especially loved him sitting up after the frog splash and going for the pin instead of rolling away.

Vince vs Bret - I went into this match with no expectations and it didn't reach them. Worst match I've ever seen. May have been better had the crowd been hot and they didn't do the Hart bullshit.

Jericho vs Edge - Good match, glad to see Jericho retain.

Divas tag - Was posting on the forums, didn't really pay attention.

Batista vs Cena - Was legit scared that Cena either fucked up his neck or got a concussion from that FU to DDT spot. Normal Cena match.

Taker vs. Shawn - Amazing match. Probably match of the year. Going back on my "better than last year" comment until I let it set in and I watch it a few times. Was much, much different than last year and I liked that. Loved the opening and the finish.

Overall, I'd say this was an above average WrestleMania. Really enjoyed it.

<font color=goldenrod>HBK/Taker was awesome, and was the main reason I purchased the show.

That being said, I wasn't completely thrilled with any other match except Jericho/Edge. Batista/Cena got good towards the end, and Punk/Rey didn't get enough time, and MITB felt a lot shorter this year for whatever reason.

Not the top 5 Mania I thought it could have been.</font>

These are my sentiments exactly. I think WrestleMania would have benefitted more from being 5 hours, and allowing some of those matches which didn't get time get some time. I also found some of the booking decisions weird. Definitely not one of those classic WrestleManias that the line-up suggested. It's a bit sad, actually, because it did look much better on paper.

I really liked Money in the Bank. Kofi Kingston again provided some great moments, as did Matt Hardy and Jack Swagger. I actually hope this means Swagger is getting pushed. But yeah, it could have used a bit more time. Shelton Benjamin didn't really do much at all in the match except hit Paydirt

Triple H and Sheamus did a really good job with their match. Both guys worked hard tonight, and you could tell that Trips wanted to deliver Sheamus to the promised land. I actually also marked out a fair bit for Randy Orton. Chris Jericho and Edge also worked a great match. Jericho retaining makes Edge look a little weak, though. Would have been nice if they had included the Spear through the barricade spot in the actual match.

CM Punk and Rey Mysterio could have used more time, and Bret Hart and Vince McMahon could have used a fair bit less. I get what they were trying to do with Bret and Vince; but the fans just weren't into the slow dissection of Vince McMahon. The angle with the Harts, in my opinion, was fine; but then it should have been beat-down, Sharpshooter, over.

Tag match - blah

Orton vs. Rhodes vs. DiBiase - garbage

Money in the Bank - boring, supposed to be a ridiculous spot-fest, where were the cool spots? Also Jack Swagger is mad gay

Punk vs. Mysterio - I guess it was ok. Way too short to be good. Can't believe Punk didn't win.

Triple H vs. Sheamus - Horrible, horrible match. Almost fell asleep. Worst match of the night.

Hart vs. McMahon - Stupid. I understand Bret Hart, who is my all-time favorite wrestler, cannot wrestle anymore. He shouldn't have had a "match" if he couldn't wrestle. The whole Hart family lumberjack thing was retarded. I guess it was surreal to see Bret Hart just kick the shit out of McMahon for about 10 minutes. I guess that's what it was supposed to be. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything more.

Jericho vs. Edge - Good match. lol @ Spear

Womens clusterfuck - horrible, really did not need to see Vickie Guerrero's ass

Cena vs. Batista - fucking terrible. Almost fell asleep again. Hate Cena.

Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker - Really good match, even though it looked like Shawn was going to suck Taker's cock for about 17 minutes.

Predicted every match correctly except MITB and I thought Punk would beat Mysterio.

The crowd was pretty dead for the first half of the show. It was clear that the crowd was saving itself for HBK-Taker.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought Jericho-Edge was a little disappointing. I loved that Jericho won - caught me completely off-guard. But still a little bit short of what I had expected.

Punk-Mysterio was awesome. A little rushed, but great. Those two can flat-out go. The finish was predictable, but well-done.

MITB - cool, but where did the Swagger win come from? Weird. He'll be the first MITB to lose the cash-in, without a doubt. Stupid.

The Divas are hot. Kinda neat to see Vickie pay tribute to Eddie with the splash. Beyond that, meh.

Triple H and Sheamus were very good. Again, predictable match - HHH really worked to help get Sheamus over. Good match.

Cena-Bats was pretty good. Normal Cena match. I hate the STF though. It looks like crap.

Bret and Vince was painful to watch. Whoever booked the Hart buyout storyline should be fired. No one bought that for a second. Cool to see one more sharpshooter, though.

HBK-Taker - great roller-coaster. But again, I never felt that HBK had it won. Last year, there was a moment when I was sure it was over. This year, it didn't happen. It doesn't help that last year HBK hit 2 SCM's and Taker kicked out, so I knew two wasn't going to finish. And God awful Michael Cole screaming "THE STREAK IS O-VERRR!" was a giveaway (which WWE does way too f*cking much, ruins the match). The mark in me wanted to see HBK hit one more kick after the "Stay down!" spot. Then I would have been convinced. Alas, wasn't meant to happen.

The end was tough to watch - I kept waiting for them to play HBK's music one more time, and they didn't. Made it feel absurdly real. They've actually convinced me that HBK has wrestled his last match.

This show really lacked the big WM "feel" aside from Taker/HBK, the end of Batista/Cena and some parts of Jericho/Edge and HHH/Sheamus.

I will say this: 10 men in MITB is obviously at least 2 but probably 4 men too many. If he's really retiring (I doubt he is even if he believes he is. It's wrestling. Come on.), but if he was really looking at this as his last match, it being to Taker after already losing to Taker last year is pathetic.

Like I said going in, I hate the face that the man pulls a 5 star match out of Taker that makes the demand for a rematch so high and his reward for that is jobbing AGAIN to him, being made to look like the worse man, not someone on the same level.

Cena vs Batista wasn't a bad match at all. I don't think it's fair to class it as such because you hate both guys no matter what.

Actually nah, 8 was probably better lol.

Taker/HBK was amazing and booked REALLY well.

Yeah, JR was the voice of wrestling. Doesnt sound like without him.

And yet, when he *was* on RAW every week, the internet fans kept saying they were tired of hearing him. Does anyone remember that? I do.

Nah it wasn't a bad match but I think the crowd really hurt this match (they did ger into it near the end though.)

I'm surprised they were so dead for it at the start.

Shawn kicked out of fucking everything. It made perfect sense with the way they were going into the match. Michaels was pretty much "I won't go out unless I die" type of thing. That was achieved perfectly in this match.

If you look at the match as a stand alone, without taking into account the storyline, I could see your point (whether I agree or disagree is irrelevant). But the storyline leading into this dictated how this match came across.

Overall it was a good show, but I guess we all grow up and Wrestlemania just doesn't seem to be what it use to. It could have potentially been the best WM ever but somehow most of the matches seemed rushed and not that great.

It's weird because WM19 for example had just as many matches, and somehow they went for a good amount of time each and even had time for Limp Bizkit/Cat Fight girls etc.

All the matches themselves were good though, but as I said they all seemed to finish too soon. The Hart/Vince was kinda boring. Woulda been better if Vince were able to get more offence in. But Natalya Neidhart looked HOT so it's all good.

Triple Threat:
How did a fued with so many possibilities and so much history end up as that.

Money in the Bank:
Never seemed to get going. More spots blown than hit. Who wanted to see Swagger win? Christian and Matt DESERVE it, and either would have made great Wrestlemania moments, cash in or not. Even Kane or Kofi would have pleased people, Drew would at least be logical. Instead heel Swagger who's been jobbing on Raw gets guaranteed a world title - way too soon.

HHH vs Sheamus:
HHH's draw wasted with a midcard jobber. They want to put Sheamus over. Fine. Then why the fuck a) Have a boring, lazy match. b) make Sheamus look weak. c) have HHH go over?.

Sheamus ends up looking worse than he did the day before.

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio:
Instead of 'getting revenge' Mysterio looks lucky to even get the win. If the same match happened on Smackdown people would consider it below average.

Bret Hart vs. Mr. McMahon:
51 year old professional wrestler assaults a 65 year old businessman with a steel chair and crowbar. But it's not enough. To win he needs the help of three fit, young professional wrestlers, a crooked ref and at least 10 family members as lumberjacks.

I'm a Hart fan and I found it almost unwatchable, 70,000? people in the audience seemed to feel the same way. What a way to end the greatest story in pro wrestling. It's almost as brilliant as the ECW/WCW Invasion angle!

Chris Jericho vs. Edge:
Edge never hits the move the match is booked around. Match ends as it's getting started. Edge's face run looks ridiculous. Great spot comes after the match where it means nothing, and makes even less sense.

Batista vs. John Cena:
BAWWW GAWD CENA HAS OVERCOME THE ODDS. That it was the second best match on the card is not a positive.

Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker:
Nobdy wanted to see the Undertakers streak broken. Nobody wanted to see Shawn 'forced' to retire. One of those things happened and I can't imagine that sent the audience home happy.

I like the way Shawn just wandered off. They could have had Bret hug him in the ring as the ticker-tape fell. They could have had Hunter, they could have had the whole locker room, or any member of it.

I haven't seen a exit like that since Mysterio retired JBL.

Anyone who says HBK/Taker was booked poorly is fucking stupid. HBK literally kicked out of/countered everything MULTIPLE times. He kicked out of more of Taker's finishers in one match than anyone will probably for the rest of the year. Again, if HBK had won this match and nothing other than the last move changed, you could say HBK dominated Taker in this match.

There was one great match, and 2-3 very good matches.

There was only one really awful match. Were the Legacy and HHH/Sheamus matches so bad? No. They were solid, and that's the midcard.

How many Wrestlemanias are working with much better?

The MITB match was shit! There is too many people in it for each to actually get any substantial offence in. What did Shelton Benjamin do? He steals the show every year in that match.

Dolph Ziggler? Drew McIntyre? Fucking Jack Swagger? I can't remember anything these guys did.

Which is odd because Wrestlemania's have improved a lot in the last decade. Probably because until the 2000s Mania was all about a BIG ASS main event and then a bunch of other filler matches with the odd big secondary match.

WM 23 truly was shit though. :D

In what lifetime is Wrestlemania 18 better than this? Because it happened closer to the attitude era?

The Wrestlemania 18 card was dead aside from Rock/Hogan (hot crowd for a bad match), and Taker/Flair (great match)

The main event was dead. The rest of the card was shit. Austin jobbing out Hall was no better or different than the HHH/Sheamus match.

People need to get over the old days.

I don't think Shawn's overall wrestling career is finished just yet, but I think that the week-by-week regular component of it is. He doesn't have to do it anymore, and should take pride in what he's accomplished, be happy with his other stuff in his life, tend to family, enjoy his spiritual pursuits and just take his mind and body and float for a while.

And go out there in the world and have some fun too...get as far away from WWE for the larger body of this year, and maybe make one last comeback for something at the Georgia Dome next April(true last match against Trips, anyone?), and maybe get into the WWE HOF next year.

Shawn 'HeartBreak Kid' Michaels-2011 WWE HOF Inductee...needs to happen.

And for UnderTaker, for a guy who turned 45 just mere days ago, he's shown that he is the Greatest Ever Big Man in wrestling history. It was more logical that he won at Mania this year, and as a loyal fan and true to Taker since Winter 1992, I'm happy he's 18-0. Regardless of the 'Cena Flak' that exists online, I support the idea of Cena V. Taker in Atlanta next spring. It might be the last major opponent Taker would need to face at Mania anyway, so you might as well blow the farm on that for the Georgia Dome.

And if Taker wins that match, give him a break at WM XXVIII in Spring 2012, let him win that match, see him get to 20-0, and then...well, who knows beyond then, huh?

The UnderTaker and Shawn Michaels...rivals in the ring, and Icons Both.

Thanks Taker and HBK. =)

And Congrats, DeadMan. 18-0! =D

This mania was good. Why shit on it. The Tag team titles wasn't given enough time IMO, but MITB, Rey/Punk, Edge/Jericho, were good. I dont care about the divas, HHH/Ginger was good and clean and I truly feel that Cena/Bats was good until the botched Powerbomb spot, and the sloppy ending. I couldn't expect more out of them actually, so they get a solid 3 stars.

Taker/HBGod was great. I KNEW the outcome, and found myself rooting for Shawn ot kick out. I marked like I haven't marked in a long time( 12 months actually). I love how Taker built frustration, and even showed frustration/remorse for Shawn not staying down. Loved it to death. And I had Goosebumps when Taker helped Shawn up,and hugged him. It was a great moment for two of the most loyal WWE'ers left.
