Good. Now start playing pro.
"Need You Tonight" is a great place to get a GS on it. It's just an inverted C chord. I think it's C. I forget offhand. Anyway, play the same three notes a bunch of times.
Got two of my friends achievements on that and they have no musical literacy and questionable skill. XD.
I can only do well on a handful of easy songs on Expert. Mostly I'm still on Medium, but it really is a fun learning curve.

Ugh. Stopped playing for a couple months now. Probably need to relearn everything again. Though it's not like I learned much, but I was starting to get some muscle memory. Not getting my keyboard til after I get my tax return, so all I've got for now is the RB3 ivories.

You probably lost a step, but in my experience it's easier to get your chops back the second time. I haven't even played my 360 since I got out of the hospital, so I'm probably in a similar sitch.

Also, Harmonix lied to us. Supposedly, they couldn't just add pro guitar to older cuts, which is why I re-bought several Queen tracks and why Bon Jovi had three "Rock Band 3 Versions."

That's what happens when you apply a completely logical DLC plan to a game like this, rather than a completely batshit disc release plan.
Activision had the brand recognition, more pull with big bands, an excellent music creator (in concept and partially execution) and they still fucked it up.

I bet if they had continued their "vow" to "support" their franchises (Guitar Hero and DJ Hero), they'd still be making money off the franchises.
Of course, they "had to" kill it.
Honestly, I'm not sure what was going on in their heads. You didn't see them putting out 6 Call of Duty games a year....

What strikes me stupid, is that they obviously didn't have a problem nailing some notable acts. It would have been nothing at all to lessen disc releases and increase DLC, in fact that would have saved them money. Who thought is was a good idea to release a Van Halen game? What 'market research' concluded that to be a good move?
And then the old non-transferable setlist thing, that they tried to do but failed at. And certain DLC not playable between games (which was absurd). And toward the end they had some decent ideas (Party Play was elegant and awesome), but they burned themselves out. Shame, their note charts started getting better too.

VH was like the second most requested/desired band. Of course, the question is, second with how many people?
And since MEtallica was THE most requested band and it didn't set the world on fire, why continue?
I didn't get the non-transferrable DLC thing. Once makes sense. You weren't planning forward. It's not the best scenario, but it is what it is. How you continue to make that mistake through several iterations of games is beyond me.Rock Band got it in one. While they're not perfect, they certainly did that right.
Activision is really good at pleasing investors, though. I suspect that investors don't care as much about DLC, and want hit DISCS being released.
The true bummer of this is that Rock Band 3 probably is the best music game out there. People wanted something new, and they got it--but the market was flooded and too few people actually bought it. Which seemed to be Activision's way of saying "If I can't have her, nobody can!"
But pro keys are pretty awesome. Pro Guitar is nice, though I hate the low end guitar model (I thought it'd be fun, but you're still pushing buttons and that's just not a similar experience). The higher end Squier is probably different, but the Mustang doesn't really play like an actual guitar. Kinda moot, since my Mustang was destroyed a couple months ago, but still. I wouldn't mind owning a Squier at this point, but I don't have that kinda cash to throw around.
Keyboards actually make practicing fun. That alone makes it better than any other method I've tried. I won't pretend I'm an expert on piano, but it's helped me greatly. I even find myself playing some of those songs on my actual keyboard.
Of course, the catch is you have to buy more "plastic instruments." Yeah yeah, both are MIDI controllers, but I doubt most people care. Even the Squier probably sounds like shit when plugged in. Though it may be a good learner's guitar, my only real interest in it is as a controller, and nobody even remotely serious should look at that thing and thing "I'm gonna sound good on that!"
That's probably because when I sing, I have to be drunk.
You must be drunk a lot. You're all over the leaderboards. Including a couple dozen songs I haven't beat you at because I haven't sung yet.

Check your info this is not the same as the "marketplace theft" profile hacks. This requires no profile. As far as the 360 is concerned it's a save file. It's Rock Band that interprets it as dlc.

I know that, the DLC songs are being unpacked and repacked like with the RB1 exploit as well though, I've seen it on a bunch of private torrent sites. All's I'm saying is watch out, you'd be naive to think your song cache isn't viewable by Harmonix or Microsoft.

I know that, the DLC songs are being unpacked and repacked like with the RB1 exploit as well though, I've seen it on a bunch of private torrent sites. All's I'm saying is watch out, you'd be naive to think your song cache isn't viewable by Harmonix or Microsoft.
OK Gotcha. HMX monitoring your cache I don't doubt, and it could lead to a ban. Thanks for clarifying.

I was disappointed that there's still no venue select.
Seriously, Harmonix has been asked for this since day one, so what's the holdup?
Also, I've seen no real confirmation that custom songs are disabled. The worst I've seen is people bitching that if you have custom songs you can't play Dani California, but that's not actually the cause, since other people have issues.

Depends on how you define "developing" the tracks, I guess. It looks longer, especially since they treat the different steps as sequential.
Also, since they say they can churn out the product in about three weeks normally.

Kind of like taking the on-disc only stuff and releasing it for optional purchase. Now do Boulevard of Broken Dreams, because it's the only track I really want.

I have recently rediscovered this game, thanks to my roomates joining in the fun.
First time I've ever played with other people on a consistent level. No high scores will be broken, as we always play after a lot of drinking, but whatever. The best is doing road challenges, and seeing someone who is into jimmy buffet and grateful dead sing a random setlist and get children of bodom.

We play regularly and this game is insta-fun. We need new guitar controllers, though, and hell if you find one now that the genre is dead.

As long as harmonix keeps releasing new tracks, I don't care how dead it is.
Just bought the bush pack. Sixteen Syone ftw. Though they need to put out Glycerine.

Kal's point, erroneous as it is, is about the difficulty in finding the actual hardware (guitars in this case) so you can play the game. Because unfortunately, the DLC is useless without the peripherals to play it.
But still, Mad Catz makes everything (even if they are out of guitar controllers right now) and there's a major second-hand market of perfect good fake guitars.

I need a PayPal account because all the kiddies on Ebay use it, and there seems to be some guitars on Ebay. The only thing here locally is the Legends of Rock guitar, which I guess would be fine for whoever's on bass. Aiming for the Stratocaster for lead. Also need a new mic, a second mic stand, and a blue cymbal.

That reminds me, I've been meaning to get Legends of Rock if it's cheap enough.

Not interested in the game, but I'll have to deal with it since the guitar comes with the game. Nothing but bundles here.

I wanted to play the game, but it wasn't worth full price. Or thirty dollars.
Surprised they even have bundles, mind.

Jokes on them, places are trying to get rid of the things. Might be worth screwing with whatever studio mode they got, but I hope I can resell it somewhere. Like the next day.

I don't have much an opinion of it either way. The sale made it worth it, and it seems like a great game in concept, I just can't seem to get it down.
It was a good buy for 600 points, and it's a pretty decent set list honestly.

Yeah, there's no response.
I did some looking around online and found some similar reports (some people having this happen straight out of the box), and it looks like I've just got a dead guitar now.

That's rough. My RB2 guitars both survived being drowned in a fire. One's buttons are slightly less responsive, but meh.

Every time I do John Lennon's "Imagine" I have a habit of looking off to the like the B camera is there. And that's not even the wackiest 'living the performance' thing I've ever done.
