We got 229-6 then, 'competitive score' is whats being said, we'll see....so tense, very few boundaries...
Well so much for that, Europe is now out of the World cup.

Sorry but India are the least gracious winners I have ever seen. Many could take a lead from a humble man like Tendulkar, and fuckwits like Harbhajan telling everyone how great they are, and how they had been telling the world how great they were but noone was listening really take a shine off it.
Was a great win for India, at the end of a world cup that probably went on too long. The quality of the cricket really suffered after the final 8. They will use this as an escuse to drop the minnows, which sucks, as they added real excitement to this tournament.
There is no doubt the best 2 sides were in the final though, both teams were light years ahead of anyone else. But I do believe NZ should have pushed Sri Lanka a bit harder.

04-03-2011, 06:00 AM
certainly, we did better than most expected pre tournament, including myself, but there's nothing wrong with expecting more once I saw how we were playing, and what we were capable of.
I feel that if our batsmen gave us another 30 or so runs in that semi final, we would have had a better chance.
Londoner
04-03-2011, 06:02 AM
That's always the feeling though innit, lol.
Harbhajan was CRYING because he was so happy. How can you expect the guy to be in control of how he feels and what he says in a moment like that. Unless you mean something he said prior to the win. They've been wanting a win for 28 years, you can't expect them to worry about being composed when they were that excited.
LOL where was this beauty hiding from us so long?

No harder than baseball in that the game is simple to understand, then the deeper you get it starts to get a bit more complicated.

Ya, that's a decent start. But things get pretty complex soon enough once you look into other modes of getting out and different formats of cricket.

Decided I'm going to Leics v Northants in the T20 tomorrow. I'll report back.
Mike the Metal Ed
07-03-2011, 01:41 PM
Typical Leicestershire game really. Northants are bottom of the T20 Northern Division, and despite a spell of poor fielding from the hosts, set a meagre 130/9. Leicestershire as ever decided to keep things interesting by losing Cobb and Du Toit for 10. Sloppy bowling by the Steelbacks (there were 23 extras!) and a 63 run stand by Jefferson and McDonald got the Foxes back on track, when Johan Botha ended that partnership with Leics on 73/3, Leicestershire seemed ready to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with Abdul Razzaq dispatched for 4 and a dropping run rate. James Taylor restored order, making it look easy in the end, earning 21 runs off 34 balls and seeing Leicestershire take a six wicket victory in the 18th over to stay second in the T20 N Division, trailing Nottinghamshire by two points.
Now if only we were better at longer forms of the game.
Only recognized Abdul Razzaq in there :'(
Mike the Metal Ed
07-03-2011, 02:01 PM
Yeah, both clubs are in the Second Division of the County Championship, so there were no real stars on show. Leicestershire more develop the talent to then get poached by Nottinghamshire because they have a test-standard ground, whereas Grace Road is about as high off the ground as I am. Hoggard is our captain, but didn't play today and hopefully you'll hear more of James Taylor and Nathan Buck in the future as full England players.
Explains your love for Hoggard.

Colombo: The ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat here Wednesday shot down Sachin Tendulkar's proposed changes in the ODI format making it a four innings 25-over-affair rather than current 50-over format.
"There is no need to change the format," Lorgat told reporters here at a breakfast interaction. Tendulkar, a prolific run-scorer in ODIs with over 18,000 runs, 48 centuries and 95 half centuries had written a letter to Lorgat, seeking a radical switch from two 50-over innings to four phased out innings of 25 overs each – method tried in Australian domestic cricket.
"We did receive a written proposal from Sachin, but that was a long time back. I myself have spoken to him many times about it, the last one as recent as during the World Cup in April. The success of the tournament showed that the 50-over format was sound in health and there was no need for dramatic changes," Lorgat added.
He further added," The executive board meeting after the World Cup decided that the present format was doing well. That has not changed," Lorgat stressed.
The senior batsman had argued that four alternate innings of 25 overs would be a fair way to balance the advantage gained by the team which won the toss in conditions such as bad weather, sub-quality pitches which historically had proven that a match can virtually be decided by the toss of a coin. Lorgat also commented on another point of contention with India –the DRS.
He thought the system was working well despite Indian dislike towards it. "Even the best of umpires have a success rate of 95 per cent. We see a five per cent improvement because of the UDRS while there can be 1 per cent margin for error. The question is if we want to sacrifice 5 per cent for 1 per cent?," Lorgat questioned.

Australia suck right now. There are so many good players being left out of the team who could put some of these senior players to shame. Clarke was the right man to replace Ponting, but should not be captain long term. Ponting also needs to retire soon, and Haddin, Hussey, and Johnson should follow. Clarke needs to be replaced as captain by Shane Watson or Tim Paine sooner rather than later, and needs to perform more consistently from now on in.

And David Warner should not be opening for us. He's a Twenty20 specialist who could probably bat at number 5 or 6 to start with. Ed Cowen is the unluckiest man in the country right now, along with Ben Hilfenhaus.

Tbh i've started to wonder(and this was back during the england series to) if India are being payed to lose some of these games(or give away aloadof runs at some point or whatever else). The fielding positions at times have been laughable/questionable. And after the english guy yesterday admitting to spot fixing it just brings the issue up again in my mind. Wish it didn't.

Rumours suggest there is a problem within the team. I use to make fun of the Pakistani side all the time. Not cool :'(

Learned my lesson from the India match and just booked a ticket for the match against Australia. Easy victory for the Foxes I feel.

Going well ain't it. Home advantage certainly seems to play a big part in cricket more so than any other sport.
Seriously! All the teams are becoming utter shiite anywhere else.

I heard England were 75/4 and felt justified in not waking up to Test Match Special today, but then I realised Pakistan had opened the batting, JUST maybe England can be the slightly less incompetent side and take something from this series.

Good call idiot replace Clarke with one of two people who are amazingly injury prone
That call is so dumb I can only but reply in caps
WHAT A FUCKING DUMB AND IDIOTIC THING TO SAY. TIM PAINE BREAKS HIS HANDS PICKING UP A CUP OF TEA AND SHANE WATSON TEARS HIS HAMSTRINGS ALL THE TIME. ARE YOU FOR REAL. COULD YOU HAVE PICKED TWO WORSE CHOICES. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
To be fair, I said he needed to perform, and he has. When they made him captian he was the absolute shits. Paine would have been captain one day if he hadn't of broken his finger playing. Not even sure if he'll ever come back now. Actually, that might have been a seperate convo I had with Guru Dave, but I have no issues with Clarke being captain as long as he performd.
But thanks for your feedback :y:
