Brock must like the water in the Shark tank! This is how he's gonna come back from getting dismantled??? War Brock!
FROM SHERDOG.COM
Ending months of speculation, UFC President Dana White today revealed that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Brock-Lesnar-17522) and top prospect Junior dos Santos (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Junior-dos-Santos-17272) will coach the upcoming 13th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” after which they will square off to determine the heavyweight division’s No. 1 contender.
“These two will coach, and then they’ll fight, and the winner will fight [UFC heavyweight champion] Cain Velasquez (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Cain-Velasquez-19102) when he’s healthy,” White said during a media conference call to promote the UFC’s Jan. 22 UFC “Fight for the Troops 2” (http://www.sherdog.com/events/UFC-Fight-for-the-Troops-2-15120) event.
In late December, it was reported that Velasquez would be sidelined for six to eight months with a torn right rotator cuff which required surgery. White said that the UFC’s original plan was to match Velasquez against dos Santos at UFC 129 (http://www.sherdog.com/events/UFC-129-TBA-15427) on April 30 in Toronto, but that the “TUF” idea simply fell into place after learning of Velasquez’s injury.
“It made all the sense in the world once we knew how long Cain was gonna be out,” said White, who stressed that no interim title would be created in the champion’s absence.
“I literally hadn’t made any phone calls yet and we hadn’t contacted anyone [about coaching]... I was driving to work one morning and I thought, ‘You know what? That makes sense. Let’s see if we can do this.’”
Filming for the series is set to begin in the last week of January, with the season premiering March 30 on Spike TV. The latest iteration of the UFC’s long-running reality television series will feature a cast comprised solely of 170-pound competitors. Welterweights have previously been featured in the show’s second, fourth, sixth and ninth seasons, which yielded current UFC fighters Joe Stevenson (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Joe-Stevenson-65), Matt Serra (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Matt-Serra-1305), Mac Danzig (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Mac-Danzig-3396) and James Wilks (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/James-Wilks-10569), respectively.
The season’s tournament winner will be crowned at the “TUF 13” live finale, which MMAJunkie.com reports will take place on June 4 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
No date was announced for the bout between the heavyweight coaches, but White said that Lesnar and dos Santos would “definitely, 100 percent” meet at a June UFC pay-per-view event. UFC 131 (http://www.sherdog.com/events/UFC-131-TBA-15720) is rumored to take place on June 11 -- one week after after the finale -- at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
Lesnar was handed the second loss of his nascent MMA career by Velasquez in October, when he had his belt taken in a brutal first-round TKO loss at UFC 121. Prior to that match, the former pro-wrestling star had rattled off four straight wins, including stoppages of such UFC luminaries as Randy Couture (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Randy-Couture-166) and Frank Mir (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Frank-Mir-2329).
One of the heavyweight divisions brightest prospects, dos Santos is undefeated in his six Octagon outings. After bursting onto the scene with a knockout of Fabricio Werdum (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Fabricio-Werdum-8390) in his UFC debut, the 26-year-old “Cigano” tore through Stefan Struve (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Stefan-Struve-15063), Mirko Filipovic (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Mirko-Filipovic-2326), Gilbert Yvel (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Gilbert-Yvel-323) and Gabriel Gonzaga (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Gabriel-Gonzaga-7306), stopping all four with punches. Dos Santos went the distance for the first time in his career last August, when he took a unanimous decision over Roy Nelson (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Roy-Nelson-10249) to become the No. 1 heavyweight contender. <!-- 300x250 AD -->

Do you guys think Dana is going with Brock and JDS in response to the Strikeforce Heavyweight tourney and maybe that was why it took him so long to announce the coaches?
Krimzon7

absolutely this is why Dana went with this fight. Before the announcement of the HW GP, Faber/whoever would have been the best possible matchup.

Kinda sucks for Dos Santos cause he already had the title shot but the ratings will be huge for TUF and all around good for UFC so..
:y:
Lesnar's last fight in MMA then.

It's win/win for the UFC. The ratings for TUF will be high and if Lesnar wins they'll have their biggest money maker back in the title hunt. If Lesnar loses it will make JDS a more mainstream name and Brock can go back to the WWE with his tail between his legs.

Canada and Vegas get all the good fights. God forbid MMA goes south of the Mason Dixon line. Maybe we can get an all women's Strikeforce Challenger's card one day down here... that might even be asking too much... although Amanda Nunes definitely gets a "Dat Ass!" award.
Poor Brock, fed to the sharks again.

Dunno why everyone is sleeping on Lesnar.. IMO the fight against Carwin solidified him as a champ.. Sure he got rocked but in MMA, if you don't get rocked you aren't fighting the right people.. He weathered the storm and pulled off a high level submission.. Sure Carwin was gassed but that just proves how tough Lesnar was.. He took for five minutes what no one else had been able to take for a minute and a half.. Sure Velasquez out boxed him but every fighter gets beat.. It's how they come back from those losses that pave their legacies.. Dos Santos is a devastating striker but he is unproven off his back.. And if you think Lesnar can't put him there, you are fooling yourself..

I think he is completly capable of putting him JDS on his back, but Cain showed you can get up, and we've seen that when Brock gets tagged he turtles. I just think at some point JDS is going to catch him and knock him out.

Dos Santos isn't as big and strong as Carwin.. He won't be able to get up as easily..

The most underused punch in MMA is not the jab, it's the uppercut. JDS specializes in the Uppercut. Brock's suspect guard is very prone to JDS's signature punch. Let's see if the uppercut can get off before the double leg goes down

Im pretty much going to disagree with everything you just said here....
The carwin fight exposed brock and gave everyone the blueprint on how to beat him which is, stop the first takedown and then punch him in the face. Then pick your punches.
He in NO WAY pulled a high level submission. He did an arm triangle. Thats a white belt level move. Not that thats a terrible thing because its a great move but its one of the most basic and first moves you learn.
Yes, every fighter gets beat. Lesnar got slaughtered. TWICE
For lesnar's sake i hope he is a fish out of water on the mat because if he can stop the takedown or at least get up right away, lesnar is fucked.
Dos Santos isn't as big and strong as Carwin.. He won't be able to get up as easily..
Carwin didnt get up... he stopped the takedown. Cain got up and hes smaller than jds

ummm i dont know where u got that but its still the jab, but yea lesnars shoulders are so big he cant cover his head without crossing his arms which leaves the perfect opening underneath.

Call me nuts Reav, but I see way more jabs than i see uppercuts when I watch a night of fights. Now, I'm not talking about using a jab ala GSP...I'm talking about simply the use of it over a card or night of fights.

That's fine but it still doesn't change anything I said. You don't need to be a high level wrestler to stop a shot especially if you keep a guy in striking range and especially if the wrestler is affraid to get hit.

My question is, will Brock be able to teach/train guys or will he even show up? Brock is notoriously fickle and seclusive, and a moody bitch...not that I would ever say it to his face. But for some reason I have a feeling he will act a lot like Shamrock did if not worse on TUF. Just kind of show up, not help the guys, and get an attitude.

Only way Brock would improve is if he stopped being scared of getting hit in the face.

JDS has the best hands at HW in the UFC, so it's safe to say he's a better striker than Cain, atleast for now. I just really hope JDS wins and we don't have to see Brock get dismantled by Cain again.

I think in combat sports the promoters have to be a little edgy or out there in some way. Dana in many ways is just an updated version of Don King and Vince McMahon. It got him this far so I doubt he'll change now.
I do hate how he sometimes capriciously makes decisions on the podium or in front of the camera. Dude definitely likes whipping his dick out for Ariel Helwani.

I can kind of see where he comes from. If you were a part of something that was marginalized and put your time, effort, energy and hair into making it work despite doubters, you'd get kind of pissy at times too when people who are employed because of what you've done start questioning you.
Bill Gates can't necessarily do the same thing because Microsoft is held to a higher standard than the UFC, but I'm sure in private he's felt the same way at times.

Cain's brown pride tat is just as stupid to me though. I understand repping your heritage, but is Brown Pride in prison letters across your chest really necessary?
Liddell probably regrets getting the back of his head tatted since he's forced to wear a mo-hawk 5 years after it went out of style.
Frank trigs tramp stamp is also unfortunate.
