View Full Version : Sin Cara's debut

Wow......that did not go well. Primo got in way too much offense, and that botch in the end was pretty bad. I don't know how Sin Cara is gonna keep that as his finisher with any wrestler over 250 pounds.

Doubt it was his finisher. He seemed abit nervous i think. Looked abit lost in the ring at times but some of the spots were good. I hope he ain't gonna do that same entrance of jumping over the top rope everytime...

That's WWE's style - the heel getting in the offense and the face making a comeback. If Primo did not get in that offense, that match wouldn't have lasted as long as it did. WWE is different than wrestling in Mexico or whatever, it's a different atmosphere, so he looked a little lost.

Besides the botch, I thought it was pretty well. I loved his entrance, how he jumps over the top rope.

It's going to be tough for him once he gets in the ring with guys who don't speak Spanish. That and the one man spanish fly won't work on other guys, surprised they didn't let him do his armbar.

Yeah... I don't see a top rope C4 staying as his finisher, but I think he has WAY bigger problems in that botch than most of you guys do.

Remember:

this guy slipped ON THE RAMP at WrestleMania on a cape that was a couple of inches too long and was never seen again.

Primo shouldn't have sat on the top rope after the slip. He should have tried a dive or something. Accidents happen, but you gotta adapt quickly. HBK and Piper seemed to be the best two guys at reaction to fuck ups/botches.

Gertner

Yeah, thought it was weird that they just decided to do the spot anyways. Primo could have crotched himself on the ropes and fell down or something. Kinda made it look like they didn't want to deviate from the plan of the match. His moves were impressive.

The Long Island Iced Z would have done better :)

Usually debuting wrestlers pretty much squash whoever they face. It just seemed the match had no flow.

It was a great, short match. Sin Cara looked amazing, and damn I forgot how good Primo is. I wish WWE would do something with him. :(

Dunno what TL and Porksoda are on about though, 'looking lost at times', Sin Cara seemed fine. The slip at the end was pretty bad, but to be fair it wasn't awful. It wasn't like when Shelton Benjamin tries a springboard and fucks up, or when Jeff Hardy tries a WINT and crash-and-burns.

What I meant was in between moves he looked liked he didn't know what to do. I found it abit annoying, as Gertner said it seemed to have no flow. I aint shitting on him, just an observation of his debut.

A lot of people want to blame Sin Cara for that botch, but it was Primo's fault. Sin Cara was up against Primo and Primo's foot slid off of the rope and he fell. That caused Sim Cara to lose his balance and fall. That being said...Sin Cara looked pretty good, but I am thinking that eventually 4 hurricanranas during each of his matches may get stale. I will admit though that I haven't seen many of his matches and so I may be way off base.

Match was fine, but it was kind of a dick move by Lawler to say "I don't think that's what happened there" when Matthews tried to cover for the botched finish by saying Primo fought him off.

Wouldn't be surprised if they made him scrap the leap over the top rope entrance, considering that's twice in two weeks he's barely cleared it. It's definitely impressive, but it hasn't looked very clean and it's a YouTube botch waiting to happen.

Thought it was kinda funny that he got a huge pop at first and then the crowd died down pretty quick once he came out. Wonder if the Tron made it seem like Rey with new music or something.

Other than that botch before the end of the match, I found him to be pretty decent. His theme sounds like a combination of Enigma, Porn music and jungle sounds :shifty:

And I really hope that he remains silent like Snake Eyes.

Remember Goldberg's debut? He did not dominate that one at all and look at the run he started with.

As for him being a bit lost, it might take him time to adjust and learn how to fill the in between moves time more as he stopped and looked around a lot I found.

Goldberg also wasn't being built up like Sin Cara.

I dont really care for Sin Cara. I think there are better high flyers in Mexico or Japan that they could have promoted and hyped up. He should have at least spent some time in FCW to "adapt" his skills to America kinda like Del Rio and Hunico did.

Side note, (I'll say it again) Why the hell did they bring in Sin Cara when they have Hunico still sitting in FCW? Hunico has been in FCW for awhile and is apart of a high flying team with Epico (Tito Colon) right now. I dont see why WWE did hype them up and bring them onto the main roster instead

I think it made Primo look good... which is good for Primo fans (all 7 of you). I feel they should have gotten a Million Dollar Man wrestling buddy out for Sin Cara's opponent instead if they wanted Cara to dominate.

The super C4 looked cool, but completely over the top. That should be a finisher in the WWE All Stars game. As it was said in this thread, let's see Cara do that on someone 250 pounds or more

I like the guy, I like his style, however as WWE's style goes, it looks like they're just hyping up a future X-Division champion.

Having not seen any mistico matches i was looking forward to this guy as some new blood. but hes 2 for 2 botching the jump in the ring, thats a bad sign that hopefully gets adjusted.

my main question is..is he doing anything that rey didnt do years ago with the luchadors in WCW? and everybody on here hates ray so how long before there are sin cara bashing threads left and right

and the realistic problem.. who can he have a program with other than rey, morrison and bourne who are all faces and who all wont garner him a push. way too early to decide his career so hopefully business picks up

I was surprised by how over he was already. Fans chanting "Sin Cara" and all.

I guess if you build someone up, and they actually look "kinda cool"/shiny, the fans can get behind them like that.

For the record, wwe.com have edited out the botch in the video recap of the match.

I've watched the botch a couple of times over now, and its not so much the mistake but more how SC handles it. He would have been fine to get right back up and attempt the move again on a taped show like Smackdown, but it happened live on Raw instead. Basically, he no-sold a fall from the top rope to the outside. That never looks good. He should have thought enough to improvise another series of moves to get back in the position for the finish, or at least took his time getting back in the ring.

Instead he jumps right back in, executes the same set-up and hits the move on the second attempt making his mistake look blatantly obvious. It's not the end of the world though - he'll learn.

Not a good way to start

"– Vince McMahon is down on Sin Cara using a trampoline for his ring entrance since he’s botched it two out of three times at television events. Following last night’s flub, the unique entrance may be altered or completely scrapped.

Cara was said to be very nervous prior to his first television match last night in regards to converting to the WWE style of wrestling. Personnel were down on both him and Primo following their match."

Primo has to set up awkward on the top rope in order for Sin Cara to execute the finisher. It's a move that will not be perfectly executed every time. I also agree that he'll be in the doghouse for giving Primo too much offense. Primo did look impressive, though.

The end is nigh!

Jesus did you guys watch the same match or what?

Primo made Sin Cara look like gold. The one botch was Primo's fault however as his foot slipped on the ring post rope and momentum took Sin Cara down now it must have went pretty much un-noticed or it was quickly forgiven by the crowd because I didn't hear any "you fucked up" chants.

As long as WWE don't do something stupid Sin Cara will go to the top but they have to give him time to adapt. You can't have him run down the ramp and jump on a trampoline, flip over the top rope 100's of times a year and not expect some form of error he is only human!

I personally don't feel he needs the flip over the top rope anyway.

As for the match I think Primo really showed he can help Sin Cara have a good match, it was back and forth I really think Sin Cara got the upperhand though judging by my gut feeling and watching the crowds reactions. Again Sin Cara excelled the guy is a human highlight reel he's amazing.

I think people just want Sin Cara to fail but I have news for you he won't.

No idea why people seem so deadset on him botching. He slightly botched the jump over the top rope his first night. Very slightly. This week, it was even less noticeable. As for the top rope spot, wasn't his fault at all. Primo slipped. To me, it looked like Cara went over because he was trying to sell the botch as Primo throwing him. Which may have been Primo's idea as well, because you can see that he sort of holds onto Cara as he goes down. If it wasn't like that, then plain and simple, Primo's momentum made him fall. In neither case can you say he's to blame.

I don't blame him if he was nervous. He's a young guy who's been super hyped and is now in the biggest company in his line of work. Not to mention having to adapt to a very new style after working over 10 years with a completely different one.

As for him giving Primo too much offense, I don't think so. Sin Cara should not be squashing guys, ever. His offense is hit and run, he should be about out speeding the opponent, not overpowering him. The Flux Capacitor doesn't bother me either, as luchas should have their share of crazy aerial offense, though I'm not crazy about the amount of setup it will usually require. I'm assuming he'll have a different finisher for bigger guys.

As soon as I saw him fall off the rope, I honestly figured there'd be a topic popping up on here about it pretty quick, given the online wrestling community's penchant for mistaking a bit of fog for smoke from a raging inferno.

It seems like the type of thing where he should have just gotten in all the offense for the squash. At least against Primo.
The way they showcased him against Sheamus and Swagger was perfect, so I'm not sure why they would give him such time against Primo.

They also just want to get him out there and wrestling in their ring though, I'm sure. Lots of talented wrestlers seem to have a tough time adjusting to the WWE ring and style at first.
I've seen it happen with everyone from The Radicals to Jericho, and lots of WCW's cruisers.
It should clear up soon.

Well I think that the entrance botch is odd and probably should be scrapped... the finisher he did on Raw is fucking retarded anyway, his submission is much better as a finish. I hate coop moves like he did anyway... The fuck up was obviously Primo as he slipped but Cara didn't look in control either, a little nervous... I did however think that Cara sold it very well and it was okay for Primo to stay crotched. After the match I was like "damn", those guys are fucking good!

Primo was on like fire and Cara was impressive obviously with his cool head scissors from crazy spots, I'd like to see about 5 more matches with these guys. Primo needs a push asap I think. He's obviously very very good in the ring, a general you might say.

Only think bad I can say about Cara is he needs to be a little bit more aggressive in his transition from move to move or kick to kick, a little too much time was spent waiting for a trade off or something.

I'd like to see Cara go up against somebody who was less talented and bigger... maybe Swagger would be a good choice to see how he really can do against a WWE style wrestler. Primo wrestled like a Japanese veteran, awesome but not really the bar for the WWE style.
