I originally thought it could probably be Fin Fang Foom without the 'Fin Fang Foom' part. Wouldn't be very 'realistic' having a huge dragon turn up and calling it/himself 'Fin Fang Foom'.

Debating this because I want a pair of Captain America 3D glasses to go with my Darth Maul ones. Going to ask the AMC people if I can just buy 4 pairs of the 3D glasses (Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Cap) instead. Save around 35 bucks or so.

I wonder if Civil War's on their mind as far as possible movie-verse stories go. I know the Big 3's sequels will be self contained without too many references to the greater universe, but things will converge again in a few years, they need something big. Civil War should be adapted in some way.
Lock Jaw

Fox and Sony will never share their cash cows. Sad really, as I'd think even a cameo would benefit all involved. Imagine Nick Fury asking Wolverine to join a special team after the credits of The Wolverine, then Logan ironically says "I don't do teams." Cue Fury's "I got my eye on you" line and boom. Instant hype.

04-18-2012, 04:48 PM
Cameo for cameo would be fair. Have Iron Man pop up in Fantastic Four for 2 minutes... Captain America helping Daredevil out in a gang war.... Spider-Man popping up in the Avengers for a few minutes...

FF and DD are on stasis until Fox reboots them. I'd say for now, have Sony's current Spidey swing by in the background during the final battle in Avengers as an Easter Egg. Nick Fury after The Wolverine, stuff like that.

They could probably get away with not even having a Spidey cameo. Fury could maybe just mention it to one of his men; "I want you to look into this guy climbing up walls" or something... something that would obviously hint at Spider-Man, so that even non-comic fans should get the hint.

Are you dumb? can you not go past 20 words before you lose focus on what you are reading?
And likelihood of using the red hulk? Well considering in comics these days, red hulk is way more in your face than the green hulk considering he is only in his own book right now and red hulk is in the avengers, his own book, the AvX story, and even showed up in the Venom book. Sooooo in order to either A. build the team for future avengers films considering there already IS talk of the civil war storyline being used in a future film or B. introduce a villain that is way more visible and popular at this point it would make sense to make money on a character that has so much exposure.
But who are we kidding... you fell asleep in the first line of this post.

Well I went to see it last night and my word it was fantastic. I've never been so comfortable in a cinema, solely because I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.
I thought the general pacing of the film was really well done in my opinion considering how much there was to fit in and all the character reveals never felt forced at all, although they possibly could've shown a bit more of Thor getting back to Earth, although not exactly necessary, but considering how they made somewhat of a big deal about him not being able to return at the end of Thor, it could've done with at least a scene rather than him just appearing.
All the cast were on top form and there was some very "Whedonesque" moments which as a fan I can't complain about. All the one-liners that you would expect in a superhero movie were there and were done really well, especially from Stark, Coulson and towards the end Hulk. Coulson dying was a pretty big shock as well, although someone was always going to die in a Whedon film.
One gripe I have though is how inferior Captain America was portrayed in comparison to Hulk, Thor and Iron Man. They probably could've done with him going toe-to-toe with Hulk perhaps to show he is up there with them, but in the end it seemed he was more of an equal to Black Widow, than the other three. The scene towards the end when Stark asks Captain America to come up with a strategy was the only indication that his strengths and advantages over the others lie tactically and came across a little forced. Also speaking of Black Widow, she was done really well and came across as a complete "badass" which isn't really a surprise considering the director.
But yeah seriously, wow. Feel as though I've been a bit negative there, but that's only because the good parts are so obvious they don't even need stating. It really was a fantastic film.

I just read more info about my new crush Black Widow on wiki saying that:
In The Ultimates 2, she's revealed as the traitor to the avengers and sided with The Liberators and was later killed by hawkeye after she got nanonites activated by Iron Man rendering her in a hospital..
If they make a movie about Black Widow's origin, I might be watching but this spoiler version I just said, I hope they won't make it.. I just don't wanna see my sexy heroine ending up like that.. <3333 Scarlett. omnomnomnomnom.

http://www.nme.com/filmandtv/news/mark-ruffalo-signs-six-movie-deal-to-appear-as-hul/267220
Mark Ruffalo has signed a contract to appear as 'Hulk' in six films, including the recently released Avengers Assemble. The actor, who makes his first appearance as the character in the blockbuster, has signed on for five further films, which are likely to include a number of Avengers sequels and a stand alone Hulk movie.
Speaking to Collider, Ruffalo also revealed that he very much hoped to star in a solo Hulk film and how much he enjoyed making Avengers Assemble.
He said of this: "I was so impressed and blow away by how much [Joss Whedon] packs into this movie and how exciting it is and what a great ride it is, and how it just works on every level."
As well as Ruffalo, Avengers Assemble stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L Jackson. You can watch the trailer at the bottom of the page.
The film has so grossed over $180 million worldwide and topped the UK box office with takings of over £15.8 million last weekend.

Caught an early screening of it at midday. I was the only person in the cinema, which was pretty awesome and I never imagined would happen. Film was incredible! Loved it! Kinda wish the end battle was longer, the Avengers didn't really seem to be getting their asses kicked, in order to make the big comeback, but overall was a fantastic movie, and worth five movies of hype.
My only complaint was the fact I had to watch it in German! There were some moments I didn't understand, but the biggest gripe I had with it is the same thing I hated about Johnny English 2, and that's overdubs. Rowan Atkinson without Rowan Atkinson's voice, isn't Rowan Atkinson. The same applied to the Avengers. Stark's quips didn't seem as effective without Robert Downey Jrs. voice, and as you can imagine, Thor doesn't sound like an Asgardian God of Thunder with a German accent.
But this is a personal thing for me, and not really a problem with the movie, will definitely watch it in English when it comes out on DVD.
Was prepared to 'die a happy man' after seeing this movie, but now with the hint of Thanos being in a sequel, gonna have to prolong my life by a few more years.

Loved all the dialogue as well. And especially lol'd when Hulk punched Thor after they took down that huge dragon thing.
One quirky observation: nobody was hurt! Didn't see any innocent people die!!! Thor fell in that prison thing, on a beach, in broad daylight on a sunny day, and conviently nobody was there!!! Hulk happened to fall into an abandoned building! For all the cars being blown up and buildings collapsing and dragons smashing into sides of skyscrapers, I didn't see a single civilian get crushed/blown up/shot etc. Pretty sure I saw one car get blown up with someone RIGHT NEXT TO IT and they completely no-sold the explosion.
That's probably what I would do, too.
Rammy, the film is not out in USA yet.

Oh really? Fuck. Stayed until about halfway through the credits, but since I was the only person in the cinema, all the staff already came in to 'clean up' and get ready for the next viewing (yeah, because one guy made sooooo much mess), so I kinda felt a bit weird still sitting there waiting, so got up and left.

Whedon killed it, man. Just killed it. Absolutely the right choice for this movie.
It started off a little slow, which is necessary when you have to establish so much. The interplay between the personalities of the characters is fantastic. Hawkeye ended up getting the short end of the stick in terms of...well, pretty much everything. Which is unfortunate, but expected. He's stuck in an ensemble flick, and he doesn't have the benefit of having a whole movie to build him up like all the others. I really wish they'd given him some kind of mask or helmet, even a set of special sunglasses or something. Makes him less boring and gives more credibility to his incredible aim. Everyone else was pretty awesome, except Maria Hill, and only because she's given pretty much nothing to do except report stuff to Fury.
Mark Ruffalo narrowly edges out RDJ for MVP. Downey is possibly better as Stark here than he was in Iron Man 1, and definitely better that Iron Man 2. But Ruffalo did the impossible. He made me give a shit about the Hulk. After so many portrayals of Banner as a brooding, woe-is-me genius, it was great to see him portrayed as more in control, and to an extent, at peace with himself. When they make the next Hulk movie with him, I'll be first in line.
Onto some more spoilery stuff:
-The scene in which Hulk slams the fuck out of Loki is Top 10 material. Like, Top 10 movie moments ever. Like, Top 10 life moments ever. All the best applause or laugh moments in the movie are Hulk.
-Even knowing Coulson was going to die thanks to all the brouhaha here, it was still a shock when it happened. I hadn't forgotten it, and I knew it was coming in that scene, it still made me jump a bit. That's why I don't get too worked up about spoilers. It's not what happens, it's the way it happens.
-That said, I kinda wish I hadn't found out the Thanos reveal. Again though, still cool as fuck.
-The 2 minor gripes I had in terms of plot stuff was that it's pretty much glossed over how Banner goes from having no control of Hulk on the helicarrier to being fine during the battle of New York. But it's a 2 hour and change movie with a lot of stuff to cram in, so I'll give it a pass. And did the end of Thor go out the window? Wasn't Loki supposed to have possessed Selvig already?
-Favourite line: Cap, checking the inner workings of the helicarrier: "It looks as though it's powered by some kind of electricity!"
-I love the way Whedon trusts the audience to get it. Even little stuff like Coulson's last words. "They need something to..." you don't have to finish that sentence. And he didn't.
-Wish Hawkeye hadn't been a heel for half the movie.
-Scarlett Johansson's ass in a tight leather suit is the best argument I've seen for 3D yet
-If you can watch the last hour of this flick without a massive stupid grin plastered on your face, you're not a comic book fan. Or a movie fan.
In closing, fucking see it. Pissed that we'll probably have to wait 4 more years for another one.

OMFG
- Fucking Perfect.
- Hulk stole the final battle in terms of laughs and action.
- The Thor/Hulk team-up was awesome. The final moment was great.
- I was worried Cap would be downgraded to make RDJ look better, but make no mistake Cap the fucking leader. he got strangers to follow his orders.
- Black Widow's interrogation technique managed to fool the audience and that is art right there.
- Giving Loki a somewhat comedic defeat is almost WWE job-out territory, but you can't beat that scene with a stick. I also missed Hulk's one line in the film because people were cheering so much.
- Hulk vs Thor, in live action... Great scenes, with both put over.
- Hawkeye was so badass in the final battle. The no-look shot was epic.
- "...He's my brother!" "He killed 80 people in 2 days." "He was adopted."
- Wish Jane Foster appeared as Pepper did, but I'm glad they referenced her.
- In fact, surprised at how much they referenced the past movies.
- I thought they would do a call back with Thor being able to power up Tony by having him bring back from coma/knock out/death, but Hulk screaming him awake was great.
- I can talk about this all day. I loved the movie. Will watch it many more times in my life.

I was kind of skeptical going into this mainly because I thought it would only appeal to huge comic book fans while ostracizing those looking for a well structured movie. I also didn't overly like any of these superheroes individual films, but I do have a certain nostalgic affection for the characters. That being said I actually really liked this. Whedon is a much better director than Favreau, Johnston, Brannagh and Leterrier. The humour was really good, and they balanced the indiividual character arcs, group arc and overall narrative. The action was actually enjoyable too, really liked the Rio Bravo scene on the big airplane, and there was a wonderful shot where it kinda tracked all the Avengers during the big Manhattan scene. I liked that Harry Dean Stanton had a small role as the janitor dude who found Ruffalo.
Most summer blockbusters are so ineffective and it was nice to take a break from some experimental Taiwanese/Romanian film or whatever the fuck I normally watch and let my inner child come out.

Going again this thursday to see it in 3-d.
The whole movie just flows together so well. Nothing feels like it drags at all. The chemistry between all these characters is amazing, and it's straight from the books. Wish Whedon would do more comic book movies.
Think I saw the scene where the camera pans around the team back to back about 50 times before I saw the film, and yet it is no less amazing when it's time comes.
Hawkeye and Widow held their own, just like I thought they would. Hawkeye especially was a total badass.
Loki was fantastic. I like how towards the end there was that one scene, where you thought Thor was finally going to get through to him in that cliched sort of way, only for loki to heel it up even more.
Skrulls were pretty good. I could see them returning in a later film, with their more traditional shape changing infiltration technique, in a sort of secret invasion adaptation, since the direct approach failed. Or maybe they'll even do the kree skrull war. Given the next apparent villain, they'll already be doing cosmic stuff.
Thanos is my favorite villain of all time. I hope Whedon is doing the sequel, because I don't know if I trust anyone else to get him right. But god damn, I didn't think they'd go straight for one of the most powerful villains ever. Thought they'd due Ultron or Kang first. Thanos isn't even an avengers villain. He's a villain for the entire marvel universe.
Some minor gripes
Caps suit looked a little better in motion, but it still looked a bit goofy next to everyone else's costumes. His ww2 duds do look a bit dated, but I feel like they could have done a bit better with the update.
Loki's alliance with the skrulls and Thors return to earth are poorly explained, but that's forgivable, as the movie is already almost 2 and a half hours long. Probably would have had to cut some other more important stuff.
Did they ever actually say "assemble" at all in the movie? Seems odd that they wouldn't. Maybe I just missed it.
Overall, this is my new favorite superhero movie. My new favorite action movie. My new favorite movie, period.

Random Notes/Trivia/Thoughts:
- Thor's look covered his three major costumes; sleeveless/cape = Kirby, sleeveless/no cape = Ultimate, full armor = JMS.
- Aside from the Bifrost, we now know that the Cube and certain dark magic can also transport you across the realms.
- After the events of IM2, it seems Stark does not trust Natasha or SHIELD in general.
- After acquiring Hawkeye, Loki did some scouting - already knowing about Cap, Hulk, and Black Widow. He really should have been primed about Stark's arc reactor heart, though.
- All of the hero vs hero fights ended in some sort of draw, except for Widow vs Hawkeye.
- Cap could hang with Loki, who in turn has fought Thor, who has shown to hold his own against Hulk. One could conclude that Cap could potentially survive a fight against Hulk if they were ever to tango.
- How would James Rhodes/War Machine feel meeting Captain America? And has Rhody ever been approached by SHIELD, being not only a superhero but a soldier himself? Hmm...
- Nobody said, "Avengers Assemble!" Or I may have missed it. Would have been perfect before the iconic sweeping shot.
- With Thanos revealed, I think Thor 2 will be the most significant of the 'fallout' period. His movie deals with the cosmic areas of the Marvel U., and the famous Infinity Gauntlet was last seen in Thor. It seems things don't stay in Odin's Vault for long.
- They finally make it clear that Natasha is from Russia, which should make a possible appearance by Winter Soldier in Cap 2 more interesting.

It's probably one of those things that they wanted to delve into more, but was cut for time.

Something I thought of, but probably requires too much thinking and best to just not think about at all, is that maybe Hulk could just sense who the enemies were here. Seeing the Avengers battle the alien invasion, and then even Captain America telling him to 'smash' (at least, that was the german translation of what he said), probably made him realise this was his side.
Of course, Hulk has yet to show any kind of reason before that, so this seems illogical why he even went in for that spinning shot to begin with.
Maybe they will dig into this in another Hulk movie?

Some Thoughts On Hulk:
- At the end of Incredible Hulk Banner opened his eyes with some ambiguous satisfaction. The talk of the town was whether he made a heel turn or finally had control of it. Banner's payoff line at the end of Avengers, after alluding to some 'secret' for the whole movie, imo finally answered the question IH raised in that last shot. For the most part, he is always in control.
- Hulk busting loose on the Helicarrier was preceded by the big group argument, that heavily hinted that they were all subtly under the influence of Loki's scepter. Look at their eyes and gestures of headaches from a few of them. Also listen to the unease music. The camera angles were also shot with discomfort, particularly during Thor's line about them being petty (and small!). This same kind of psychological mindfuck shot was used when Widow was watching over Hawkeye after is face-turn, and he was describing how it was to be under Loki's control. I figure Hulk going crazy at the base was an extension of that anger, as it was Loki's play all along.
- Hulk does not reason well, but several movies shows that he himself his a hero. The shot in Ang Lee's Hulk where he jumps on a jet to save the bridge. The entire third act of Incredible Hulk, too. When Banner unleashed Hulk at the final battle, he knew who the bad guys were. He did, however, remember his brawl with Thor and he certainly got the last word there.

I think it is all about how he changes. On the hellicarrier, he was triggered by what was going around him. His "rage" wasn't focused, so when he Hulked Up, he just went after Black Widow because she was the only one there. Then fought Thor because Thor was getting in his way.
When he changed for the end fight, he was pretty clearly "directing" himself at the bad guys. So he smashed the bad guys, and helped the people who seemed to be helping him. Part of him obviously remembered fighting Thor though.
Same with in Incredible Hulk. When he Hulked up "directing" himself at Abomination, he clearly had more control than when he is set off via other means.

Oh yeah, saw the movie BTW. Was pretty incredible.
Had a big grin of awe/enjoyment throughout the entire climax of the film.
The only "fault" I could really give it is the lack of explanation of how Thor got back to Earth.
Was just like "Oh Hey, Thor is here now" and "Odin must have used a lot of power to send you here!"
Minor point though, that I don't really care about because I was too busy being blown away by Awesome.

Something off topic I noticed during the previews that struck me as odd.
I sort of understand why Battleship is using that wierd screeching moan sound effect that was so prevalent in Transformers, but even the new Spiderman seemed to be using it at points. I especially noticed it in the scene with the tower falling. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it just really stood out to me.

Liked the movie. Few things. One,I think Thor is terribly boring. CA was too til he was in his enviroment at the end. How can Coulson die if hes already signed on for five more movies? Hawkeye was a lot more awesome than I thought he would be.

Also, to some degree, Mr. Blue's experiment may have added some extra level of control even though it didn't fully suppress his condition as planned. Though he can still rage out, perhaps we'll see a more heroic Hulk going forward.
As for Mr. Blue, the prequel comic series went ahead and established him as The Leader, and that comic is canon far as I know.

I loved every minute of it, and it felt like I was watching an actual comic book.
I thought Captain America was going to get the short end of the stick, but he was awesome you could easily buy him when he was giving orders to everyone.
It's really hard to say who stole the show though, because there were so many great performances.
So much to love about the execution of this film. The comedy was every bit as good as the action. Some of the lines/exchanges/"beats" were fantastic.

Apparently, marvel has aleready reserved the date of May 16, 2014. People are speculating that it's for Avengers 2.
I wonder if Thanos will be the actual villain for it, or they'll just have him somewhat involved. i say that because where the fuck do you go from after Thanos? He is baddest, meanest, most dangerous threat in all the marvel universe. He's taken over all reality, several times. Not even Galactus or the abstract entities have been able to stop this guy.
Feel like it might be better if he is still in the role of "puppet master" in the second film, though still taking more action than he did in the first. Then in the 3rd movie we get the direct, cataclysmic battle.
Saying that much, I would definitely have Ultron be the next main villain. Maybe even have Thanos somehow influence the rise of Ultron's sentience.
Who would you guys like to see as villains in the solo films?
For Thor, they could go the route of Odin dying, and Thor and friends having to fight Hela to get him back. Maybe have Enchantress, or Ulik as a secondary.
Cap, I think the only way to go is to bring Red Skull into the modern age, but add the twist of the winter soldier being under his command. My one beef with the first film was that the battle between Cap and the skull didn't seem as personal as some of the other marvel flicks. They were just fighting on opposite sides of a war. I think now that they've had their first epic clash, and bringing bucky back in as skull's puppet, we would see some real chemistry between cap and skull.
Iron man is a bit trickier, since as I've said, his rogues gallery is kind of a steaming pile of poo. Ben Kingsley is already a part of it apparently. Despite marvel saying he won't be the mandarin, I think they're lying, as he seems very good for the role. Mandarin uses 10 alien rings in the comics, so maybe in this, he can use 10 rings made from the skrull tech left on earth after their failed invasion.
Dunno, this movie got me so amped, that this stuff just goes in and out my head all day.

Also, to those saying this isn't even close to the batman films, I think it is a bit unfair to compare the two. Yes, they are both superhero flicks, but they are two very differnt kinds of movies.
Dark Knight is the perfect dark, gritty, realistic supero movie, while Avengers is the perfect colorful, explosive, as-far-from-reality-as-you-can-get, super hero movie.
They both are the be all and end all of their kind, and which is better comes down to personal preference.
For me, I grew up with X-men and Avengers, and seeing giant battles unfolding accross massive cityscapes. People and things beyond your wildest imagination waging epic clashes. That is what The Avengers is. It takes the scale of the battles right from the page, and the spectacle alone, is enough to put it over The Dark Knight, for me.

Not gonna lie I though The Red Skull was going to be in the after credits scene
So this is some stupid fanboy thing that actually doesn't matter, but...
Iron Man 2 takes place 6 months after Iron Man. Thor takes place during and directly after Iron Man 2. I'm not sure about Captain America, but I would think it takes place sometime after Thor.
Now I question The Incredible Hulk. I have heard that it takes place during Iron Man 2. Now that would explain the after credits scene in the Incredible Hulk since it seemed like they were talking about the Avengers. I don't buy that though, I think it takes place after Iron Man. Since Fury was in the end of Iron Man.
In the Avengers though Bruce Banner says he went to Harlem a year ago.
So in short the Avengers does not take place in 2012, but instead takes place in 2010.

Cap 2: Winter Soldier. Explain Bucky's longevity along with Nick Fury's, who alluded to the Infinity Serum in IM2. More badassery from Widow and Hawkeye. Since Cap's with SHIELD now, he needs to dress the part some of the time - use the black bearing Bucky-Cap suit for a few scenes. May be some world hopping; good time to visit Wakanda and meet a certain prince...
Thor 2: The Enchantress and Hella would be cool. Visit some other worlds. Selvic really should head to Asgard.
Iron Man 3: Seems like a given that some version of The Manderin will be the villain. More War Machine action. Rescue perhaps? Too soon?
Avengers 2: War of the Fucking Gems.

Pretty amazing flick. All of my thoughts have mostly been said so I won't regurgitate.
I saw it in BEAUTIFUL IMAX 3D and I feel the 3D was done really well. Maybe my 2nd favorite film as far 3D movies go. I can imagine the shots in 2D look just as great also. Hell, 3D wasn't even a big selling point for me, I just wanted to see it on a big ass IMAX screen.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Thor's entrance was a little cheap, all things considered.
I also had to explain Black Widows "powers" to some people but if you think about it, if you went into this movie without any knowledge of what she does, it's becomes kind of difficult to put a finger on it as the movie doesn't do a great job at portraying it.
I was also worried that there wasn't going to be a Stan Lee cameo as they were getting real close to the end.
But uhhh.... I don't think I have any real complaints.
