Fucking Thanos. Enough said.
Pretty amazing flick. All of my thoughts have mostly been said so I won't regurgitate.
I saw it in BEAUTIFUL IMAX 3D and I feel the 3D was done really well. Maybe my 2nd favorite film as far 3D movies go. I can imagine the shots in 2D look just as great also. Hell, 3D wasn't even a big selling point for me, I just wanted to see it on a big ass IMAX screen.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Thor's entrance was a little cheap, all things considered.
I also had to explain Black Widows "powers" to some people but if you think about it, if you went into this movie without any knowledge of what she does, it's becomes kind of difficult to put a finger on it as the movie doesn't do a great job at portraying it.
I was also worried that there wasn't going to be a Stan Lee cameo as they were getting real close to the end.
But uhhh.... I don't think I have any real complaints.
I knew nothing about Black Widow. I assume now that her power is that she's a master interogator. Is there more?

Saw it again, in 3-D this time.
If there was ever a movie that could make a case for 3D, this is it. Money well spent. Instinctively flinched a couple times, cause I thought I would get an arrow in the face.
Tom Hiddleston nailed it, this time around. In Thor, he was more anguished. Like a spoiled emo child. In this one Hiddleston didn't play Loki. He WAS Loki. He was a lot more sinister in this, with a wry sense of humor on the side, as Loki should be.
Hope this wasn't just Whedon's direction with the character, and he gives the same performance in Thor 2.
Missed "Clench up, Legolas." the first time around. Hilarious.

I wasn't gay for this movie as 90% of the population (or 97% of the posters on here), but I was greatly entertained nonetheless.
I won't say that this will rank amongst my favorite movies of all-time, but I definitely enjoyed it........and wouldn't mind seeing it again.

I actually want to see it again. I thought it was that good.
Complaint: The action scenes were very pleasing to the eye, but, to me, it was Hollywood, once again, showing off how much money that they have. I know it looks cool, but is a plane steaming on fire, crashing into a building, causing the building to collapse, falling into the ground leaving the ground breaking and throwing rubble everywhere REALLY that necessary? Other than that, the action scenes were pretty damn cool. I'm just bitching because I can.
I want to give Scarlett Johansson a round of applause. I personally think she stole the show. Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo also get applauded. The other cast was great, no doubt, but those three mentioned I thought just did a great job and I under estimated them in their roles.

Honestly, they were just being true to the source material. Manhattan gets obliterated on a weekly basis in the Avengers comics. Would you have preferred an intense game of chess between Loki and Thor instead?
Avengers had to eclipse the movies that set it up. It had to be big. It had to be epic. And lots of stuff had to break.

Yeah, loved this film. Wasn't expecting anything else though. Also what is that picture going on about, $207.4 million? It just passed the billion-dollar mark.
Meanwhile:
Interesting rumblings afoot about Coulson being either a Life Model Decoy or the Vision. Don't want to get my hopes up though, especially since the latter is pretty unlikely. But Clark Gregg is apparently signed to appear in more Marvel films, and I'm hoping it's not just through flashbacks or because the standalone sequels are gonna be set before The Avengers or whatever.
Also it's pretty crazy that several corners of the fandom came out of that film flipping out over not the central team, but Loki and Coulson. Like those two characters have ridiculous followings online now.

Luke Cage was on the Avengers for quite a while before Iron Fist joined up.

Iron Fist wouldn't really 'fit' in the movies, in my opinion.
Luke Cage would be great, but having Iron Fist involved too would kinda feel a bit crowded. Like, there's a lot more prominant members who should be in the movies first.
Maybe for the next movie we'll get Hank Pym in some identity, Wasp and Luke Cage.

05-18-2012, 11:40 AM
Can't explain it really. It's why I used quotation marks to emphasize the word. It's not that he's not realistic etc, just as I said, I just feel there's other members who were a lot more prominant in the comics that should be in these movies. Iron Fist isn't one of them.
However, maybe an Iron Fist/Luke Cage movie would be pretty cool. I think this was even rumoured a few years back. But from that movie have Cage move on to join the team and maybe Iron Fist could just be mentioned, or get a cameo or something.
As I said, if they're adding more members for the sequel, it should be Antman, Wasp and Luke Cage.
Fignuts
05-18-2012, 12:26 PM
I think Iron Fist would fit, but he'd have to have his own movie first. Too much back story with Kun'lun and all that jazz.
There is not much to Cage's story however, so he can debut in an avengers flick.
Years ago, I would have agreed with you that you can't have one without the other, but for the past 6 or 7 years, writers have really stepped them up as characters, and they've both broken out of that stigma of always having to be paired up.

Just watched the movie again. I could actually hear Hulk deliver his one line.
Movie still made me grin.
Also, I don't know how, but I completely misunderstood Captain America giving Fury some money on the Helicarrier. First time I saw it, I thought it was intended as some sort of "Ha ha! Look! He's unintentionally racist because he is from the past" thing, and it made me kinda angry.
This time, I actually remembered Cap promising him 10 bucks if there was anything that would surprise him.
So the one thing I did not like about the movie was never really a thing.

Finally watched it again for the first time since opening week. I still love the movie.
One thing i didnt notice when i originally saw it and kinda got a laugh for some odd reason was..
When Hulk and Thor have their big brawl on the helicarrier and Hulk is trying to pick up the hammer. You just see Thor suddenly appear and deliver a flying knee.
I dont know why that made me laugh but I just cracked up laughing when I noticed it.
I also love seeing that Whedon was still able to fit some Buffy/Angel alumni in the movie. Seeing that Alexis Denisof played The Other made me laugh as well.

Thor being how it was perhaps helped it a great deal. It had the heaviest fantastical elements of Phase One, and it had to ground things pretty hard. It was a tricky deal; having Thor the god throw his hammer around would be overly fantasy, and nobody would wanna see 'Donald Blake' fist fight all day. I think they found a good balance.

Marvel's Joss Whedon-developed TV project has a name, and it's a familiar one: S.H.I.E.L.D., starring the law-enforcement agency at the center of Marvel's blockbuster films.
Deadline reports (with later confirmation from The Hollywood Reporter) that ABC has ordered a pilot, which Whedon will write with two of his frequent collaborators: his brother Jed and Maurissa Tancharoen, a husband and wife duo who worked with him on Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and Dollhouse. Whedon is also on board to direct the pilot, "schedule permitting." Whedon, Whedon and Tancharoen will executive produce, along with Jeffrey Bell and head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb.
Production will reportedly start immediately. S.H.I.E.L.D. is the first live-action series from Marvel TV, formed in 2010, to be greenlit to pilot stage, though a Hulk series is reportedly still in development at ABC.
