I'm thinking the second text was Steph the more I think about it. Leads to tension between HHH/Steph. Builds up Punk trying to take down establishment. Keeps them away from Title as well so can get a long term champ after so many quick changes recently.

3) Sandbag Swagger.
Was Riley sandbagging or something?
probably just a bit of mis-communication, one of them "going" earlier or later than the other thought

Overall thought it was a pretty good Raw. I think the Del Rio/Cena feud they are teasing should be good. I also really enjoyed the Nash/Punk stuff even though it's kind of a step down from what we've gotten from Cena/Punk the last few months. Truth/Morrison had a nice little match also. Looks like I'll be streaming Raw with Monday Night Football in the background this season.

Dosed off after the Punk/Steph thing, I miss anything of note?
Raw didn't feel that great to me. The Punk/Nash promo was great, but I'm not looking forward to a potenital match. I'll enjoy the ride TO the match, but not the match itself.
Also, the Divas surprised me by actually wrestling. For a Divas match without any real wrestlers, its was pretty damn good.
Otherwise, it was meh to me. Truth vs Morrison was okay, but it just feels like the wheels are spinning in place. I felt last week should have been the blow off.
Still not a fan of Del Rio. He's okay in the ring and fun to watch, but I'm just not into him. The match was okay and I liked the finish.
As for Cena, it made no sense for that promo to happen. It would have been a great promo, had it made any fucking sense. Why is Cena pissed at Del Rio? He won the title in a legit way, and had just wrestled Rey in his home town and won clean. But Cena has a problem with him.
Feels like the title scene is going right back to the same old shit. I'm also weary about Punk. He'll be fine until the Hunter feud wraps up, but after that I fear a push down the card.
I'll say an okay Raw at best.
Every time a heel cashes in, he gets shit for it from the face. It's common practice now.
If it weren't for that, we wouldn't have had that great Punk/Hardy feud
Doesn't mean it "makes sense" but it's just the norm

<font color=goldenrod>Excellent Raw overall. And yeah, I loved the fire Cena brought in his promo...even though it sounded like Cena hadn't even watched the show. "There will come a day when you have to defend the title"...uhhhhh he just did.
Thoroughly looking forward to next week.</font>

After all the interest Punk as regenerated in the product, let alone his merch sales, I think it'd be far fetched to think he's gonna be demoted again after this.
Even if he is, Chris Jericho was pushed up and down the card and he made it work like gold. I have no doubt Punk could do the same
Also, I think we'd sooner see Punk vs HHH than Punk vs Nash

Dunno. I am probably going to get shit on for saying this, and accused of blatant Unhappy IWCitis, but...
I feel like RAW really lost a whole heckuva lot of steam this week.
The Punk stuff was still golden, and I am of course still interested in where it goes... but without the WWE Championship and Cena involved, it just loses a whole lot of steam.
Speaking of the WWE Title, it seems to be back to the status quo. New heel champ who cashed in the MitB vs angry face, Cena. Seen this a million times.
I also don't get why Cena was so angry. He wasn't even the dude Alberto cashed it in on. Punk and HHH both were like "Meh. That's Money in the Bank."
But Cena for some reason is outraged, even after Alberto beats Rey clean for the thousandth time.
Yeah. Basically, they could have milked Cena/Punk for even more and continued being red-hot.
This week was luke-warm at best.

like many of you i wanted more punk/nash/hhh answers but think raw did a great job of starting many new directions and if handled well could be really entertaining.
the cons are of course cena right back in the title picture and badly explained. again cena at the expense of mysterio gets in the mix, but thats just the world we live in cena is gonna always be in the hunt or wearing the belt
the pros. a slow burn with the mystery of cm punk stuff. who screwed him, who will he go after. could be good with punk becoming more over as he fights through Trip's stips and hopefully a rumble win at the end.
the divas didnt look half bad, and i never say that.
king and jr giving the inclination tag teams may be getting some love
getting vickie over to swagger is good.
only pet peeve about the show was hoping truth would keep no music and get jimmy hart guiding him out with the megaphone.ah well
I really don't get it. A couple of years ago, when someone won the MITB and cashed it in, Cena was okay with it since they had "earned it". But now all of a sudden he is mad at Alberto Del Rio for cashing in his MITB contract. WTF Cena?

I agree with this. It wouldn't hurt Cena as much as it would hurt someone like Bryan (only threw him out there because... well, you all know why) or any other potential "up-and-comer" that may win the case. A lower card wrestler or someone who never had the title (for instance, Del Rio had he still not gotten the win last night) would have that follow them around like "Boring" did with Lance Storm. Cena is already so over he doesn't need the win. It would also break the "guaranteed 100% win" streak everyone has had with the case, keep him out of the direct title picture, and possibly build some angle that will keep him busy with someone while the main event picture shifts to someone else for a bit. Besides, we already have Rock/Cena, and Cena's "prediction" that it's going to be a title match with him as the champion can still be done. That's what the Royal Rumble is for.
I only have a couple "Late to the Party" comment about tonight:
-I actually enjoyed commentary. Thouroughly. With Cole not going so fucking overboard with heeling it up, JR there to actually CALL the match, and everyone taking their shots at one another (as opposed to everyone bash Cole all the time... JR or King even agreed with Cole on some points leaving the odd man out to be the contrarian)
-Speaking of commentary, they pretty much confirmed the possiblity of strengthening the tag division. I agree the current champs need some sort of "umph" to them, or they'll be forgotten as soon as they lose the belts. As teams go, they're about as over as 'Lo Down. No nexus gear leaves them with no identity, no name leaves them mostly unidentifiable, their new music is pretty generic, and no mic time leaves them with no charisma. As King said, "its like the bland leading the bland". Hell, a step in the right direction would be to have them come out and confront King about that. Or...
-Vickie/Dolph/Thwagger. Swagger can use the boost of a mouthpiece-slash-heat machine. Also, this has the makings of an angle where Dolph eventually strikes out on his own (and possibly turns face, if done right), and Vickie takes Jack's adivce and hires multiple clients (or even out and out builds a stable)... which brings me back to the current WWE Tag Team Champions. Really, they're so not over, they're not even clearly defined heels. They're tweeners-by-apathy. Vickie could get them to be hated by association.

Also, R-Truth getting music was a terrible idea.
Actually, strike that. R-Truth getting music that resembled his old music, complete with "What's up" being heard, is a terrible idea.
They had worked so hard and the transformation was so complete that I had nearly forgotten about the R-Truth of old. No music, it was "Here comes R-Truth! That crazy guy!"
With the music my first thought was "Here comes R-Truth, the guy who used to sing and dance."
Even remixed as it was, it just doesn't fit him at all anymore and is just a reminder of what they should want us to forget. And what the R-Truth character himself wants us to forget.

It was probably already said in this thread, but isn't it pretty obvious that Del Rio is the one who somehow got that text sent? "Lay out the winner for me" isn't specific to just Punk.
decent raw; pretty disappointed by Nash. Was never a fan, and he didn't really hold up his end of the promo with Punk.
From PWInsider:
After Raw ended:
John Cena called for Alberto Del Rio to come to the ring and started to go to the back. CM Punk came out and forced Alberto into the ring. Cena and Punk hit their finishers on Alberto and grabbed the WWE Title. Ricardo tried to get it and they wouldn't let him have it. They then left the ring together with the title.

Yeah, this IS off-air, but REALLY? Cena and Punk working together? Guess they see Punk as a full-fledged face now.

Yeah, if Nash coming off flat on his end of the promo with Punk was intended, I'll accept it. But otherwise? Damn, that's kinda saddening. Got the same feeling I got with the whole Rock/Cena back-and-forth earlier this year. I was expecting a lot out of Rock and Cena pretty much verbally owned him. And I've despised post-2005 Cena to no end.
Guess these guys can't bring a 90s-style promo into 2011 for anything more than nostalgia, and Nash isn't immune.. even if he crashes servers.

Hope not, because it's TOO obvious. Not saying they need to swerve people for the sake of swerving people and make it someone 100% uninvolved out of the blue. That would be kind of a let down. It would be a let down in the "Rikishi drove the car" kind of way.
It wasn't directly what the instructions were, it was how it was worded. Who calls Nash "Big man" besides his friends? Yes, Of The River gained the most, but we're supposed to doubt the integrity of Triple Doofus right now. Also, we have a list of suspects in Hunter himself, Super Dave, the re-emerged Billion Dollar Princess, and any multitude of Kliq members up to and including HBK.
Del Rio simply buying off Nash would be one thing, he has the kayfabe money for it. But with that said, if a guy who flaunts his money can just buy a favor, why go through the trouble of "tricking" Nash into it?

HHH and Cena talked a little bit after his match ended and Cena just disappeared and then on Monday night they didn't talk. Usually any ref, wrestler or official, would restart the match right away or another official would come down to dispute it but it didn't happen. This leads me to believe that maybe HHH did know what was gonna happen and since Punk stuck it to him and Steph, he didn't want to reverse the decision and let the illusion be that Punk won so Nash could powerbomb the winner who happened to be Punk.

How was Nash flat at the end? he got his digs in, and taunted Punk back up the ramp.
I think he got over the fact that he thinks Punk is disrespectful and ungrateful.
He got his "shoot" digs in with Indyriffic, "youve main evented, what , twice in 5 years" and the Cook dig.

Exactly. I think teasing Del rio with the "winner" comment is a red herring.
This is either going to end with HHH being in on it, or Steph doing it behind his back to get at Punk for getting her Dad fired.
I would love it if Steph was behind it, leading to a Steph, Super Dave, Nash group (I liked someones Idea of the Miz v Punk) being group going at it with Punk and HHH (who is playing innocent and a face) with then HHH swerving Punk and going Heel.
This can play out over a few months with them then Holding Punk down and him winning the Rumble to face their corporate champ, Miz or Del Rio.
Along the way the KOW debut as Punks backup. They have been making alot of Indy references to Punk lately, who might say, fuck it, yeah, and here are the Indys to back me up.

This could be Vince too, really. Johnny Ace pulling Kevin Nash aside too. I mean, Hunter's 'in charge,' and we've seen what HHH's character does when he's in charge and in business for himself. McMahon-Helmsley was ridiculous and over the top when it came to heel antics. (not necessarily always in a bad way, he really got guys over even more)
He ain't doing that now. Of course, none of that has to make any sense. Just, if you think about it, Vince McMahon being behind all this might make the most sense, other than Stephanie being insulted, which doesn't have to contend against the Vince theory at all.

It's actually a plausible idea that Vince is behind this, especially considering John Lauranitis being involved. After all, it was Vince who got him involved in MITB in the first place. However I wouldn't see that angle ending with HHH vs Vince, as I could see HHH being in on it with Vince. This is looking like a return to the corporation imo. I think even The Rock will be revealed to be in on all this eventually.
Also, seriously, wtf happened to the anonymous GM? That is going to get tied up in all this as well.
