Watching your Habs lose to the Rangers.

The Leafs game went about as well as I expected it lol

Oh, look. Gertner talked about the Habs losing. I now clearly have no idea which team he roots for whatsoever because he said something about the Habs losing.

Was super awesomer going to a game with WINNIPEG in town last night.

How cool is it to have them back.

I know its just the Thrasher, but it was kind of fun looking up and seeing Jets.

Now if we can only get the Whalers back.

 Bruins offense is crazy these last few games with 4 games in a row they score 5+ and even Edmonton being ranked #1 in defense couldn't stop them.

Seguin has 9 goals so far which is just 2 away from what he had all of last year.

I forget how much the NHL has changed in my lifetime.

I remember how excited as a kid I was for San Jose, Ottawa and Tampa - Like as a Kid I was like HOLY SHIT, NEW TEAMS AWESOME. Which is why for a period I was a huge Florida Marlins and Toronto Raptors fan.

I also remember how quickly that wore off, and Nashville, Atlanta, Minnesota and Columbus joining hte league can kiss my ass.

I miss the old Northeast Dvision. Hartford and Quebec :'(

Gertner
11-12-2011, 10:32 AM

The Bruins don't fuck around! Be prepared to get smashed from all angles when you play them. Old time hockey baby! I love it. I love how nobody wanted anything to do with Lucic after he hit Miller. Soft.

Still can't figure out how they lost to the Blues last tuesday. Oh wait! Yes I can. They have the worst power play in hockey.

In the seven games the Hawks have lost this year, they are 2-24 on the power play! Thats unreal.

Why would Lucic be suspended? Yeah, he shouldn't have charged Miller and he got penalized for it.

Because he intentially threw a hit to the head of a defenseless goalie. It was a goon move. Not the worst of all time, or even this year. But when you play that style, you shouldnt be surprised to get a game or two.

The fact that the sabres failed to answer the bell has really upset me. Granted I dont expect Vanek to fight, but Myers and Gaustad were on the ice and neither did a damn thing. Myers is young, and needs to man up.

Yeah I was surprised at Buffalo's lack of retaliation after that hit. I'm sure the game on the night before Thanksgiving will be a real physical one.

I heard this morning that Miller got a concussion from that hit. Hopefully he has speedy recovery.

The fact the Sabres did nothing basically proved they show no confidence to support Miller as their goalie which is strange considering about a year ago Miller was getting praised as a star in the NHL and the US due to his performance in the Winter Olympics.

I could see if the coach was trying to do what Philly did last year with all the pulling and changing of goalies but the biggest difference is Philly had crap for quality in the net while Buffalo has good quality.

weather vane

I think that they believe in their goalie... Miller is one of the best goalies in the world. I think it was just a lack of judgement on the part of the Sabres. Gaustad said it will not happen again.

Also Lucic did not hit him in the head and he let up... the NHL is becoming so pussified...

Hanso Amore
11-14-2011, 05:10 PM
No suspension for Lucic. Due to....wait for it...Lack of Intent.

You can tell me it wasnt a dirty hit and he shouldnt be suspended, but dont tell me there was a lack of intent. Lucic did EXACTLY what he wanted to do.

Shanahan either needs to be consistent or stop suspending players.

Miller now has his 2nd concussion this Calendar year. Who knows how this plays out.

Myers has been a fucking train wreck this season. Its like watching a baby Giraffe try to walk. He needs to sit down for a bit and get his head on straight.

I dont fault Vanek, Pomminville or Sekera for not throwing down, but Gaustad was ON the ice. Horton held him up...so fight Horton. DO something. That is your role on the team. He is the only big body that can throw fists, and he watched that all go down. Really not earning that A on his chest.

Since miller has had a rough few weeks, now the local Media insists that there was no retaliation has a message to Miller.

Meanwhile, Lindy refuses to talk to the Media as he is so pissed that no one did anything.

Going to be interesting in Montreal tonight, as well as the next Boston game.

Huh? Lucic saw Miller and he had no chance to get that puck. He made no effort to get out of the way. He should have been suspended. I can't believe the Sabers didn't make a run at Thomas. Great goalie performance between Price and Thomas but :D 9 in a row.

Bruins now #1 in the division and #2 in the East with the Sabres next.

Islanders are really horrible but Crosby getting that goal is going to be a huge motivational piece for the Penguins and himself for the next few games (or weeks). I still think Malkin is more valuable than Crosby for the Penguins overall due to the Penguins tend to be a lot more worse when Malkin struggles or is hurt than Crosby.

Recommendation: This is a devastating blow to the young blueliner, as he's been scrambling to recapture his rookie-season form for the second straight year. T.J. Brennan was recalled from Rochester to replace Myers on the roster. Myers will end up on IR in the coming days.

Kaleta has answered the bell WAY more the last year and a half or so. But tht isnt his game. He is a pest, riles guys up, backs down, and they take a penalty for chipping at him. Love it.

McCormick is out. Regehr was never a huge fighter but will go, but is old. Mike Weber is in for Myers, will throw down but is a bottom tier option.

Really it falls on Gaustad tonight. Corey Tropp is still up from the AHL and he has been itching to drop them lately. But I dont think that kid needs to step up to Lucic.

Something better happen tonight. Get it over quickly. Someone needs to either FIght Lucic or take a run at a Bruins player and move on.

Bad news? Boyes is out "for awhile" joining Ennis, Kaleta, Weber, McCormick and Myers in the Press Box.

Its looking like someone from the AHL is coming up to join TJ Brennan and Corey Tropp in the big leagues.

Of course, all the fans are calmmering for Kassian.

I can't wait to see Kassian. We had him here in Windsor for Junior. Bit of a maturity problem, but Buffalo has some good vet that could take him under their wing: namely Gaustad. Similiar player although Kassian's upside is higher of course.

Yeah, they seem to be outscoring their goaltending issues recently. After Reim's injury I got a bit scared for them, but they seem to be holding strong. Monster's had a few inspiring saves recently.

In other news, I trade for Voukun in the fantasy league and he gives up five goals. My other ace goaltender is Kari Lehtonen, who was injured tonight. And with Reimer still out, that leaves Brian Elliot. If Elliot weren't outplaying Halak, I'd be royally fucked.

From TSN.ca

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Washington Capitals have fired coach Bruce Boudreau, who won 200 games faster than any coach in modern NHL history but stumbled regularly in the playoffs despite a talented lineup featuring two-time league MVP Alex Ovechkin.

Boudreau was replaced by former Capitals captain Dale Hunter, who was scheduled to lead Monday's practice and make his debut behind the bench Tuesday night when Washington hosts the St. Louis Blues to begin a three-game homestand.

Hired four years ago, Boudreau went 201-88-40 in the regular season with the Capitals but just 17-20 in the playoffs. This season he tried a new approach, emphasizing accountability and the willingness to bench his star players -- team captain Ovechkin included -- as punishment for subpar performances.

The Capitals started 7-0 -- a franchise record for consecutive wins to begin a season -- but have since slumped badly. They have lost six of eight, including a 5-1 beatdown Saturday night to a Buffalo Sabres team missing nine regular players. Ovechkin has only one goal in the last eight games.

The 51-year-old Hunter played for the Capitals from 1987 to 1999, the last five seasons as team captain, and is one of four players to have his jersey (No. 32) retired by the franchise. He played 19 NHL seasons and is the only player in league history with 1,000 points and 3,000 penalty minutes. His career total of 3,563 penalty minutes ranks second all-time.

Hunter has coached the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League for 11 seasons, compiling a 451-189-23-24 record. He became the fastest coach in OHL history to reach 300 and 400 career wins. Dale's brother Mark Hunter - who is also the Knights co-owner - will assume the general manager and coaching duties in London as per a team release.

Boudreau turned around a moribund franchise when he was hired in 2007, leading the Capitals to the first of four consecutive Southeast Division titles and winning the league's coach of the year award in 2008. Nicknamed "Gabby," he bought an offensive philosophy that meshed well with Ovechkin and the team's other "young guns" such as Alexander Semin and Mike Green, but he was never able to get Washington beyond the second round of the playoffs.

Boudreau had the team adopt a more defensive mindset during a losing streak last season, but it failed to pay dividends in the spring. The Capitals were swept by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round of the post-season.

Boudreau's assistant coaches -- Dean Evason, Bob Woods and Blaine Forsythe -- will remain in their posts under Hunter.

Wowsa! Dale is a money coach. Although he always said he preferred working with the kids. I expect big things. Super surprised at this move though, we hadn't heard anything in town about this.

Every team in the NHL will play home-and-home; the Stanley Cup Playoffs will begin inside each conference, with the top four teams squaring off in divisional playoffs.

The four conference champions will advance to face each other for the right to play for the Stanley Cup. Commission Gary Bettman said that the final playoff format will be decided by the general managers in the spring.

Thoughts?

As a long time Pens fan, I love to see that they've reunited the Patrick Division (with the addition of Carolina).

But I would have loved to see Toronto back in the Norris Division with Detroit. At least they didn't cram the Jets into the same division with Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary.

One of Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal should have been moved into the new Patrick Division, screw rivalries, it's lame to cram all the Canadian teams into one division.

I'm curious to hear the future details of having four conferences instead of four divisions.

Will there be two new Conference Trophies? Will the Wales and Campbell Conference Trophies be discarded? Now is as good a time as ever to bring back the Prince of Wales Conference (C & D) as Adams and Patrick, and Clarence Campbell Conference (A & B) as Smythe and Norris Divisions.

Keep it to 2 actual Conferences, not 4.

Rumours are already flying about adding teams (Quebec, the Hammer, Markham) or Phoenix moving to the Wales Conference as the new Nordiques.

Philly, NJ, and/or the NY teams would make more sense travel wise for the Northeast + Florida conference but supposedly Pitt had the biggest issues with realignment if it meant they lost out on their in-state rivalry with Philly.

People on ESPN's comment board wondered why the NHL didn't take advantage of the Boston-New York rivalry in sports but it never really developed as a rivalry in hockey unlike in baseball and football. Bruins have the Canadian teams as stronger historic rivals than the Rangers.

Fire everyone who is under Geoff Molson in the hierarchy. Pierre Gauthier, Jacques Martin, all the assistants, recruitment. We have to change the entire mentality here. This shit has been going on for too long.

The Habs have a habit of drafting good players, making them wait 2 to 3 years in the AHL in order "break them" I guess, and then they bring them back up. As soon as a new guy makes one little mistake, he gets scratched. How the fuck are they supposed to improve? They're very near to completely messing up Subban. They almost did it with Price, but thankfully the guy didn't give a shit. I'm convinced the Habs could have messed up Sydney Crosby if they had drafted him.

The technology to spot a concussion is so much more advanced and they are being discovered much easier. This just shows that COUNTLESS players competed with a concussion before and were fine. I am all for the players safety but I think this is a little too sensitive. I also say that because I am selfish and want to see the best players on the ice.

Sabres have called up their final 2 AHL Forwards under contract. They have no forwards under contact except 1 guy, kevin sundher in juniors.

So yeah, injuries are a problem.

BUT, we get Foligno vs Foligno in Ottawa tomorrow.

Can you at least call them French Habs fans? I want no association with those morons.

French Habs fans are terrible...... I fully support the move as Martin was nothing but an unispired troll...... They should have kept Muller.....

Yeah love the Winter Classic and easily the best thing done since the lockout years ago.

 Canadiens actually sent an apology to their fans about hiring a coach who doesn't speak French. They even hinted he could be fired at the end of the season due to only being an "interim" coach even though I think his contract is for 2 years.

Is Winnipeg still moving to a new division next season considering the traveling is pretty bad for them in terms of division games?

Droford
01-07-2012, 07:55 AM
Nope

Which is funny since one of the reasons why the players association would not sign off on realignment was because of travel concerns.

As realignment affects players’ terms and conditions of employment, the CBA requires the league to obtain the NHLPA’s consent before implementation,’’ Fehr said. “Over the last month, we have had several discussions with the league and extensive dialogue with players, most recently on an executive board conference call on Jan. 1. Two substantial player concerns emerged: whether the new structure would result in increased and more onerous travel; and the disparity in chances of making the playoffs between the smaller and larger divisions. “In order to evaluate the effect on travel of the proposed new structure, we requested a draft or sample 2012-13 schedule, showing travel per team. We were advised it was not possible for the league to do that. We also suggested reaching an agreement on scheduling conditions to somewhat alleviate player travel concerns . . . but the league did not want to enter into such a dialogue.’’

Vancouver showed why they are still at the tops on power plays considering all their goals today came from the PP and managed to get the Bruins to be hit with a lot of bad penalties.

Bruins still showed that Vancouver can't handle a physical team although Marchand and Lucic might be suspended a few games from all the fighting today.

How do you figure?

1) Canucks outhit the Bruins 24-17 in the game

2) The Canucks stood up to the Bruins in almost every single confrontation, and yet kept composed for the most part (while the Bruins succumbed to their emotions, took dumb penalties, and got slaughtered on special teams).

Long story short - your penis erects when you see other men and you have no idea what you are talking about here.

Having said that - the Bruins DID show that they are a superior team to Vancouver 5 on 5.

As much as I hate Detroit, the puck possession clinic that the Wings put on in the Second Period was un freaking believable.

This. I also dont understand why people say the canucks arent tough enough. The Sedins take a beating and still put the puck in the net. Same with all lines. They dont need an enforcer or anything they need the referrees to call the rules. Vancouver follows the Detroit school of building the team and you cant tell me Detroit is tough.

Crosby already out. No time table for return.
Letang already out. No time table for return.
Staal out 4-6 weeks.
James Neal broke foot out "weeks"
Craig Adams left practice with "Bad Leg Injury"

Not sure how many more sabres games I can stomach that are void of any effort or fire. Just lazy, uninspired hockey. Giving up soft goals left and right. No one can put the puck in the net.

One period into a Maple Leafs game, normally a big night, and I just want to turn it off.

Im sick of hearing about their injuries. Pitt is still ahead of them in the standings and they are missing their top players.

Neal isn't out, his "broken foot" turned out to be something he did years ago and just looked like a recent thing on the x-ray.

I am embarrassed to be a Habs fan at times due to the retards living in Quebec.

At least not until we stop starting a year with a 7.134 Million Cap Handicap.

If they resign Gomez for ANYTHING over 3.0 Million, I am going to fucking lose it.
