View Full Version : So who's a relatively cheap "name"...

That I could get to come out for the club I work at. We're going to be showing Survivor Series and I wanna get a wrestler or two to come out. I've already got Tito Santana and Jake Roberts interested. Talked to Tito on the phone and Jake via his Facebook.

I'm thinking Sunny's depressed ass, maybe Road Warrior Animal, Koko B. Ware...

Obviously it would have to be someone not working for WWE or TNA and someone that people would give people incentive to come out for in the price range of about $3,000 (though significantly less would be stellar). So I turn to you for your opinions, TPWW. I'm trying not to work through agencies since it would cost more. I figured someone might have some leads though. It's worth a shot.

#1-norm-fan

If I booked Dennis Stamp, he would be booked. And if he is booked, he is no longer not booked. And if he is not not booked, then he's just plain old booked Dennis Stamp. Thus I could never book Dennis Stamp.

And I don't think Ricky Morton would draw for his asking price. I'm definitely leaning towards Tito Santana and possibly Jake Roberts. I feel like I can do better though.

She did the same thing with an event I went to last year. Her reason was that her boyfriend was sick. :-\

But why not try Tatanka?

He appeared at an event where I live about two months ago so he's probably cheap. You can also try Virgil as he also appeared at the same event.

They both appeared with Ted DiBiase but all "Million Dollar Man" jokes aside, I think DiBiase will actually cost a good amount of money, but you can always try I guess, but I think you'll have a better chance of getting Tatanka and Virgil.

Ted DiBiase might be too much. Also, since it's Survivor Series and he works for WWE I assume he'll be at the show. The guy i contacted about some wrestlers including Tito Santana also mentioned Virgil. And The New Age Outlaws. Oddly he didn't say they would be out of my price range. Hmm.

Barry Darsow and Ax probably wouldn't be good enough draws to warrant it. Not more so than Tito at least.

I never thought of checking local Indy feds and seeing who lives in Northern California. Not only would they be more likely to come out for less, it would save us money on airfare and a hotel. My original idea was to make a wrestling weekend and try to get Roddy Piper do stand-up on Saturday and "host" Survivor Series the next night. Sell tickets for both nights and such. But Saturday was already booked.

So I've narrowed it down to basically Sunny and Tito Santana (After Sunny's manager convinced me her no-shows were an isolated incident, the bookers knew about it and were friends of hers and she wasn't actually even being paid for the gig, just selling autographs.) OR Jake Roberts. I think Jake is a more mainstream name and I don't even know if Sunny or Tito would draw at all anymore. My years of wrestling nerd-ism has skewed my thoughts on the matter.

Now, I figure there's gonna be the typical wrestling fans who come just because it's Survivor Series. Rock and Cena should draw some attitude era fans and a little mainstream crowd. So I guess I need to draw in some kind of old school crowd. Basically I need to sell about 250-300 tickets to have it be successful. Hopefully I can get people from all around Northern California to come out and pay $15 to see the show and have a meet and greet of some sort afterwards.

So what do you guys think people would more likely to pay to see? "WWE Survivor Series: Hosted by Sunny and Tito Santana" or "WWE Survivor Series: Hosted by Jake 'The Snake' Roberts"?
