So, I've been thinking a lot about the backstage politics of WWE, TNA, indies, WCW, ECW, etc, and their differences, similarities, flaws, pluses, etc.

What do you think would make someone want to work for one company over the other based solely on the backstage politics, etc? For example, you have folks like Gail Kim, Kurt Angle, etc who say they'll never go back to WWE and then CM Punk, who essentially says he would never go back to TNA, each for their supposedly own unique reasons.

I'm curious to get others thoughts on this. Feel free to discuss in detail, include links/vids to shoots, etc if necessary. Also, feel free to discuss past issues, etc.

I think everybody wants to make as much money as possible whilst doing material that they're cool with doing. A person's passion for either side of that varies from wrestler to wrestler, but whatever company can meet the happiest medium for that wrestler usually ends up being the place they stay. Now, you can either gain that happy medium by being undeniably talented, or you can have friends in high places. A person's willingness to work the system then sets people apart, and the people who often get butt hurt are those who are talented that get passed up by people with friends.

That's my guess anyway.

I know that there will be certain people who bust their ass on a daily basis, and won't get the recognition they deserve. Then gripe about how things were once released. But, it's the nature of the beast. You will have most people that will just deal with it, do what they have to do to get paid for something they are passionate about. I'm sure there is a medium if you are willing to play ball.

Every person is built differently, and a lot of it has to do with who "likes" you and who doesn't.

In my personal life, I'm a music producer. When I first started out, I was an intern, getting coffee, answering phones, cleaning up after adults in a studio and got treated like utter shit throughout. I slowly came up and while I never kissed any ass, I was able to gain the respect of those who let the ball of shit roll downhill. Now I'm the CEO of my own production company and have people who work under me. You have some guys who would never get to this point because they "wont tolerate disrespect" and couldn't get through that phase.

It's all relative, I think. It works for some people, it doesn't for others. I used to hate politics when it worked against me. Now it works for me and I love it.
