I could not help but draw parallels to his return in 2007, and it just seems that Jericho gets better and better at what he does. Do you think it could be possible that this latest run could be even greater than the Jericho we saw in the HBK feud in 2008?
And I absolutely loved how he goes from being ultra-babyface to slowly letting the facade slip and letting you know that he's mocking us. But even then, I don't expect him to suddenly snap and go to being suit-wearing Jericho. It's a different kind of heel Jericho, I feel. A Jericho that understands us, and is disgusted by us. A Jericho that knows how to make us happy and is willing to do it for the bottom dollar, but knows that he is better than that. We won't let him retire and spend time with his wife and kids -- but if we want "Y2J," he'll damn sure give us "Y2J."
I couldn't help but think of how The Rock re-affirmed his heel status and become the Corporate Champion in 1998. The hero so quickly became the villain, but was all the more effective in the heel role because of it. I'm also reminded of CM Punk earning fan support heading into his reign as ROH World Champion, and then being all "Dudes -- you remember I'm a dick, right?"
I hope that this incarnation of Jericho is something equally as memorable.
