It's the 1,000th RAW, so as a "shout out" to the HHH/Stephanie/Test wedding back in the day, Kane comes out as Bryan and AJ get married, and shows footage of himself riding alongside a passed out AJ, and getting married through a drive-thru window.

Make it happen, double-double-E.

How do people complain about guys beating people they're above still!? When has this NOT been a part of wrestling? Seriously. lol Back in the early 90's shows consisted ENTIRELY of matches like that. The MAIN EVENT of the first Raw was Taker vs. Damien Demento.

Building guys up by beating lower level guys and saving the bigger matches for PPV to give people a reason to pay for it is a really good strategy.

Kind of anti-climatic to actually announce when it gets cashed but then again next week is a special event.

Probably the best way for a case holder to actually lose if they have no real advantage but at the same time it guarantees Cena doesn't turn heel since the case provides the easiest way for the switch to happen.

A lot better RAW than last week.

They're keeping him on TV because he's a useful member of the roster and they feel they can make money with him. They wanna make him a star. Constantly winning matches in a dominant fashion is a good way to do that early on. Eventually he moves up to beating middle level guys with some lower level guys thrown in, see how that goes, main event ideally, etc. They're establishing his spot on the roster. The only problem people have is impatience because they need to see characters booked at super-speed.

Not gonna happen. Not with Cena trying to become the "Wilt Chamberlain" of Make-A-Wish, not to mention the millions (and millions) of dollars in revenue that would be lost in hat/shirt/wristband sales just to appease the IWC for about 3 months with a heel turn.

I somehow knew that would be the finish, although I expected him to announce he was cashing in at SS, but damnit. That had to be the best opportunity ever to turn Cena heel. A lot better RAW than last week.

It's like when RVD cashed in on Cena. Not "anti-climatic". Just using the case for a "big fight feel" match.

Cena vs Punk just being announced leads to the chance of a shitty finish just to stretch things out. Cena cashing in his one guaranteed title match makes it a PPV quality match.

Basically this.

IWC cant seem to grasp that it is not the focus of the WWE and wont be for quite some time

It's not so much that, it's the fact that the default answer "to cure SuperCena" is a heel turn.

He doesn't have to go heel to change up his character and be less boring, repetitive, and predictable. Hogan's turn was kind of "what else can we do with him?" He had been a heel, but that was before he was a household name, whereas Cena's BEEN heel before while in the spotlight... that's pretty much how he made a name for himself. His face turn came because he was the hot new thing that everyone got behind (much like Ziggler, people want him to turn face SOOO BAD).

Changing sides is way too much of a kneejerk reaction. Sometimes it makes sense, but other times, you don't have to turn someone face/heel to make them fresh. It's not him being a face that has run its course, it's the whole "overcoming the odds, even when it makes no sense to do so" thing.

Cena turning heel won't fix that. And THAT is what people need to grasp.

I understand that this is your opinion, and opinions aren't supposed to be right or wrong, but yours is simply wrong.

Sorry.

So, you're saying a character overhaul is IN NO WAY possible without a heel/face turn?

Are you also saying there is no chance whatsoever that if he were to "embrace the hate" (forgoing the boatloads of cash and surefire PR machine), he still wouldn't be taking 3 finishers to the bare floor and hopping up at "9" to beat the count back in the ring like he simply took a slap in the face?

He will already still have his "you can't wrestle" detractors, along with those who are burnt out on him always doing the same shit (X-Pac heat) and the blind haters who hate simply because disliking Cena is the cool thing to do. A heel turn won't change all that, nor will it automatically make him more compelling in and of itself.

Inversely, he changed up a bit in his feud with Punk (less jokes and "happy-go-lucky", more focus and aggresson, and full Boston accent in his promos), and that was a step in the right direction without depriving the 7 year old "Little Jimmys and Jennys" of their hero.
