I actually hope it's Rock/Cena/Punk in a triple threat match, like WM20.
Another Rock/Cena match is going to have trouble when it comes to the build-up, unless one of the two plays heel.

Its a bit different Sting was never a good heel people couldn't buy him whereas Taker could be an excellent heel but he was cheered anyway.

2006-2007 Smackdown was the wrestling show while Raw was packed full of crappy John Cena promos. On Smackdown, they took the time to build new guys and give them decent mid-level pushes with the US and Tag titles.
Problem was, whenever a guy started to do really well on SD, they'd move him to Raw in the draft and NEVER fucking use him, then draft him back to SD the next year minus all of his heat (Kennedy / MVP).
Last summer was almost like a return to the good old days, with Ryback, Damien Sandow and Antonio Cesaro all having regular matches on Smackdown, as well as blending quite well into Raw matches as well.
How you can tell a Smackdown guy in the the supershow era... They work Raw AND Smackdown, because they're fucking hardcore that's why. Raw is still the promo-centric show, while Smackdown is where they fight on Friday nights. :D
Pretty much agree with all of this.
Smackdown is definitely a B show, but it allows talent that would not normallt get top billing a chance to be at the top of the show. On Raw, for instance, Del Rio would never get a face World Championship run - it's too risky to do that at the top of the flagship show. But on Smackdown, he learns to work as a face (and has honestly shocked me with how good he's been) and may someday cross over and become one of the legit top guys in the company.
I can see why some people would say to get rid of SD (and I for one do not watch a whole lot of SD anymore, I'm much more a casual fan who tunes in from December to April - Mania season), but I appreciate it for what it is and realize that the spot it holds to let talent develop in the WWE is very important.

Yep. I don't post here much, but read fairly regularly when I'm in-tune with the product. But coming back this time it seems like there are a few new, how should I put it, characters posting rather incoherent babble in the forums.
The Rock = Money. It's not fair that he's on top when Punk has worked for years to be the top guy. It's not fair that Punk carried the belt (and its credibility) for over a year while Rock made movies, then Rock comes back for the payday. Nope, it's not fair at all. But it makes more money to have Rock headline WrestleMania in front of 80,000-ish people in Giants Stadium. Because those tickets will sell.
Same argument can be said, replace "Rock" with "Cena", and you see why Cena is in the top spot instead of Punk. With the notable exception that Cena did not make movies, he just did some filler feuds with Team Johnny and a storyline with AJ Lee. Which was strange. But kind of led to another dimension of Dolph Ziggler, so it all worked out and Cena contributed (in some ass-backward way) to developing Ziggler. And I know I'm very late on this, but Ziggler is the goods - he was great at the Rumble.

I really didn't like Del Rio as a heel, but he is totally growing on me and I find myself rooting for him as a face. You pose a good argument.

Just to indulge you, and because this is probably the only decent post we'll ever see out of you. I'd say Taker is one of those guys that's just transcended the Heel/Face thing. Doesn't matter what he does or who he does it to Taker will always be cheered, the guy is just that damn good. Really though I think the only other guy who reached this point while he was in his prime was Steve Austin. Those two really blurred the lines of Heel/Face and kinda invented the "tweener" role.
That's why I say he's all-time number 1 not sorry ass HBK.

Ryback has been boring since he debuted. What's your point? Other boring talent includes Mark Henry, Brodus Clay, Tensai, John Cena, Captain Catchphrase, and The Shield.
And seriously, Punk is one of the better mic workers they've got (so sayeth a number of talent, including people outside the company -- including the man who coined the phrase "vanilla midget"), so it's not JUST the fact he can wrestle.
Really though, as mentioned this comes down to mainstream exposure/money for the WWE. They're a business. From employees to shareholders, there are people who expect the business to make them money. Their biggest event of the year is right around the corner... they want every penny they can wring out of the situation -- as it should be. So while I personally may hate the Goldbergs/Rybacks of the wrestling world, they have their place.
It's why I've usually been more of a fan of the midcard/upper midcard talent. They tend to put on much better shows, which I prefer. And while I know I'm not alone in that, I'm not an idiot -- I know damn well my preferences aren't everyone else's. (And really, it'd be boring if they were.)

I enjoyed it. I was thinking there would be a little more game hopping and there would be more "real" game characters showing up and having an actual role in the film. Maybe for the sequel?
They are planning a sequel around console/online gaming so that might be more enjoyable for some people.

Loved that the SF characters kept their voices, except for Gief since he had more important lines and required an 'actor' actor.
Seems ridiculous that Tron wasn't featured, though Tron is kinda complicated from a narrative standpoint. Since it's basically about a living videogame world itself it leads to some compelling narrative desicions. You would have to treat Tron as a fictional game in its universe's sense, thus making its inclusion an official crossover. Hmm...

I enjoy a good fan theory. Story spoilers:
Okay, so I finally got to see Wreck-It Ralph, and loved it. It occurred to me that, while he is mentioned in the movie, Mario never makes an appearance, and here's why: Ralph is Mario.
First, let's state the obvious. Ralph wears a red shirt and overalls, and when he goes into his stump, it's in the same way Mario goes down pipes. Probably coincidences.
Going deeper : Fix-It Felix is most likely a reference to Donkey Kong (big guy climbs building and breaks things, small guy climbs up to stop him, big guy falls down at the end). However, it's important to note that Ralph's game is called Fix-It Felix Jr.. The reason for this is that there is only one game where Mario has appeared as the villain : Donkey Kong Jr. (the sequel to Donkey Kong). The creators of the movie made a point to append the Jr. to the name precisely for this reason.
Still not enough? Okay, look at Sugar Rush. Between the kart racing, item boxes, and food-themed world, it's obviously an homage to Mario Kart, meaning the Sugar Rush world is analogous to the Mushroom Kingdom. Ultimately, what does Ralph do in the movie?
He goes to Sugar Rush. He stops the evil king (who lives in a giant castle). He saves the princess.
(Also, while this may be a bit of a stretch, the aforementioned time that Mario is referenced is when the doorbell rings at the party and Felix says "I bet that's Mario!" He then opens the door, revealing Ralph.)
EDIT : Thanks to Liru for (indirectly) reminding me that Donkey Kong Jr. was released in 1982, 30 years ago. Fix-It Felix Jr. is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the movie.

While I do think Fix-It Felix Jr. is a nod to Donkey Kong and Mario I don't think Ralph is some version of Mario. His early designs make him at least inspired by Donkey Kong. So while I see connections in a allusion/homage sense, I don't think they're doing some thinly veiled movie about Mario.

And after watching this movie, I double down on how absurd it was including Ralph in Sonic Racing Transformed and not Venelopie, the character from a kart racing game. Sure Ralph is the star but come on!

The site that comes from is full of things like that. I don't think it's to be taken seriously. They wanted Mario in WIR but Nintendo asked for too much money or something. There is a chance he'll be in the sequel.
Did anyone else see the two princesses in Game Central Station? They looked like Daisy & Peach but they had green and blue dresses instead of yellow and pink.

Ralph was the first guy I chose in SASRT and I got him straight up to star level. Speaking of SASRT, the All-Star moves are all just awful. There is no variety. It's an endless boost move with a projectile. Wish they had them all be unique and cool like in the first game.
The only one who doesn't have a projectile seems to be Ralph and, maybe, Metal Sonic.

For the smarks who know more about the business, Streak vs Steak is a fantastic idea. But WWE doesn't play to the smarks, they play to the other 90%. And having a mainstream action star holding the belt and taking on their second most popular talent is a much easier sell to the casual fan.

The man is a semi-retired wrestler who is gonna run the company though. His ability to beat a fucking monster like Lesnar does not help anything. The logical progression of the story does not include him needing to get his win back. It doesn't help him to get his win back. He doesn't need the rub. This has to be a gimmick. Punk has been the only thing keeping WWE from being absolutely fucking abysmal for like 6 months. Of course ratings are going to go up when Rocky comes (twice a month) because he's a movie star. I still don't like the idea of putting your belt on a guy who hasn't cared about wrestling in like 10 solid years. Also, it isn't really even good for business either seeing as people are going to tune in whether Rock has the belt or not. It would be much smarter to push other guys with the title scene and showcase them for all the fans Rocky is bringing back in.

The Rock doesn't need the belt to draw. It doesn't make any sense to break a 400+ day title reign two months before Wrestlemania. Such a missed opportunity. Oh and about the video game:
During an interview with his friend Colt Cabana on the "Art of Wrestling" podcast released on October 24, 2012, CM Punk revealed that he was not WWE's choice to be on the cover of WWE '13 and that THQ had chosen him in spite of WWE's objection.[22] CM Punk described the situation as follows (transcribed from podcast):
The company [WWE] still has the guys that they want in the limelight that they want to kind of shove down people's throats. And I've obviously come to terms with the fact that I will never be that guy…They just kept throwing, you know, a certain somebody at them [THQ]. No, no, this is the guy that we want. Not Punk…not Punk.[22]
Paul Heyman, who was involved in the development of the game, corroborated CM Punk's account in an interview with New York Post:
I’ve known since day one WWE does not consider CM Punk to be the poster boy for this company so this decision was made by THQ against WWE’s wishes to put CM Punk on the cover.[23]
THQ went out of business later.

That was the actual reason for having a Kennel from Hell match IIRC.

That's him alright. We can see him, but who cares? Not thread worthy.

Excuse me? John "You Can't See Me" Cena has a moment where we CAN see him, but it's not thread worthy? I'd say it may be the most thread worthy thing to come out thus far in 2013.

Wow, good find, OP.
I'd say this is newsworthy. Threadworthy? I think so.

I love it when threads get philosophical, "what does it mean to be a thread?" "Is this worthy?"

What are you on about? Ready 2 Rumble was awesome.
And he was only an extra in the film, for those who don't believe me.
That it's him, google it, and go on wiki and type in Ready 2 Rumble he's listed on that as well..
